What a mess down the east coast trying to get power back, get gasoline, etc. Living in western NY and having gone through some major longterm storms I know what it’s like to be without heat and essentials for days on end.
Thoughts and prayers with those affected.

which was the worst hurricane I have experienced here in Florida, but at least it wasn’t cold when we were without power.  In fact, it wasn’t really hot either, it was October 28th so we didn’t swelter w/o A/C either.

The same can be said of Katrina.  Although it was pretty hot there, that’s better than freezing.  I feel so bad for those people.  It just goes to show you, when they say "get out" you should get out.  And the sad thing is, most of those people probably don’t have hurricane insurance.

That makes me wonder…  Apparently there’s going to be a telethon coming up and I just want to know how that money gets to the people that actually need it.  I’m always hesitant to donate to those for that reason although I did give to the Red Cross for Katrina.

To answer your question, yes, we got some effects here but I can hardly say anything compared to what they got up north.  All I had was a mess from the wind.  It was such a huge storm it affected so many people.  I’d say everybody on the entire east coast was affected somewhat.

We were extremely fortunate for the most part here in Massachusetts.  There were some towns without power until today but overall, things were not nearly as bad as predicted.  We had about a four hour window of very strong winds (which initially was supposed to be a 24 hour plus high wind event); that is when a lot of us lost power for a very short time and schools/work were called off Monday and some Tuesday but thank God we were spared the worst of it.  But my heart goes out to everyone affected in those hard-hit areas of NY and NJ and wherever else.
