My doctor says limiting salt can help.  Sometimes it sounds like there’s a large pack of birds chattering just outside my window.  And sometimes it’s like a jet plane is flying around my head.  And then other times it’s clicking.  The one I hate the worst is the high-pitched whine, much like they use in the audio tests (that one’s going on right now).  Oh, the evils of old age.

You young whippersnappers, enjoy what you got while you’ve still got it…whatever it is.  :o)

Don has tinitis caused frm Meniere’s diseaase.  He has to have background sounds at all times or it drives him crazy.  Usually it’s the TV on low or the radio all night long.

goes on in my head endlessly, and I guess one never gets used to it, but at least I’ve learned to live with it.  And DeeLan, I find that the low background noise is the only thing that allows me to fall asleep at night, so I, too, keep the radio on low at bedtime.  I’m taking the tip on the salt reduction, too, Bonbon, since I am a known saltaholic.  I have switched to Morton’s Lite Salt, though, since going without salt would be a fate worse than the tinnitus for me.

Minier’s Disease also but I think that’s kind of a catch-all diagnosis when they don’t have a specific cause for it.  It runs in my family as my brother, sister, sister’s daughter and my oldest son all had/have it.  My brother even had his stapes removed and an artificial one (a thin wire) put it but it didn’t help.

My ENT doctor told me hearing aids would help but when I tried them all they did was make the other sounds louder.  Background noise unfortunately doesn’t help me although I do turn the TV on to go to sleep.  I’ve basically made myself ignore it.  It works a lot of the time but not all by far.  Very annoying at the least and I’ve found out many, many people suffer from it.

Don has meniers disease also and it manifested itself the same as my dads.  He’d get severe vertigo to the point of falling down accompanied by nausea.  They both took antivert for that but Don had a shunt put in behind one of his ears to drain the fluid and now gets occasional light headedness but no vertigo.

I’m watchin idol right now, they are picking the top 24. I don’t know half the names yet, but I think one of my top favs from his first audition is that One Asian boy, I can’t spell his name, but he was in the group with the cowboy dude who thought he was awesome, well he didnt make top 24 but the Asian kid did, he’s my fav so far. I really like Jessica Sanchez too, she’s 16. One of the younger ones but she’s awesome.

I also like Jessica, and did that young black kid, the first one to audition, get  his results yet or is he coming up tomorrow?  I like him a lot as well.  I don’t remember hearing half of these kids who are trying to make the top 24.  Guess I wasn’t paying that much attention, but there does seem to be some exceptional talent this season.

Which is where I guess, they get saying "getting on my last nerve" is when the kids turn up those sub-woofers thumpers in their car on the highest setting and drive down the street.  Rattles the rearview mirror in my car when I’m in front of them, and I have to turn up the t.v. when in my house (and I live on a very quiet street) they drive by.  Irritating.  When I was young we used to blast the radio but we had a radio or 8-track (never mind explaining to the youngsters about that)…not this mega-noise intrusion you can here from six-blocks away like they do now.

if you can hear your car radio/stereo/whatever you have, more than 25 feet from the car.  Not that that stops them very much.  But at least they CAN be ticketed if some irate cop should come along.

Although, speaking of cops…the Sun-Sentinel just did an exposé of cops speeding while off duty (they get to take their squad cars home with them here).  It is epidemic and they don’t even get a basic slap on the wrist for it.  One woman cop stopped another cop who was late for his second job going 120 MPH and she was blasted by the other cops for doing it.  I say she should get a medal and HE should be fired.  He didn’t even get a suspension.

I hope this opens some eyes and something is done about it.  It’s horrible.  I don’t drive that much but I still see it happening frequently.
