I found it strange that the bishop asked it he could officate at Sami/EJ’s wedding. Given that Sami has been mariied multiple times, i am not sure HOW she could get married in the Catholic church.
July 23, 2013 at 10:03 pm #40544PattiParticipantall of Sami’s marriages were annulled:
Rafe Hernandez (Married: Nov 24, 2010; Divorced March 2012)
E.J. DiMera (Ceremony was started on Aug 20, 2010 but never finished)
E.J. DiMera (Married: Nov 9, 2007; annulled: May 27, 2008)
Lucas Roberts (annulled)
Brandon Walker (annulled)

July 24, 2013 at 2:15 am #40561lynnekarenParticipanthow do you know all that? lol
I thought if you consummated a marriage you could not get an annulment?
July 24, 2013 at 2:50 am #40565PattiParticipantbut if you check the sites that discuss her marriages (I took mine from SON), all with the exception of Rafe’s were annulled. I’m not up with the rules of the Church today; but, from what I always understood, it is very difficult to get an annulment, and takes a very long time to boot. Sami hasn’t lived long enough to have received all of the annulments she’s had. Plus, some of those marriages were twice to the same man. This will be her third to E.J., if and when it does happen.

Also, keep in mind that if she wasn’t married in the church, she wasn’t married so would need no annulment. Besides, like someone else said, this is a soap and acciracy doesn’t count for mich. Like ciffing Sami’s hands in front of her. They would never do that, it is always in the vack.

He was married before but the marriage was not in the church even though he is catholic. So he had to go thru some stuff to get permission to be married in the church but was able to. So its not beyond believable to be able to do get married in the church.

What they are talking about here, I’m sure, is that Sami has been married at St. Luke’s before, but those marriages have been annulled. Her last wedding in St. Luke’s, I believe, was when Will shot E.J., and Lucas took the blame and served the time (I vividly remember it, because Sami wore a black wedding gown because E.J. was forcing her to marry him). There also was a time, at least when I was young, that you had to be Catholic to be married on God’s altar in the Catholic church, but not any longer. It used to be a non-Catholic, regardless of whether it was bride or groom, could not get married on God’s altar, and had to be married at the railing, where Communion is received. Things have sure changed a lot.
That reminds me, Sami’s last marriage to Rafe was performed in the park, but I can’t for the life of me remember who married them. Was it Father Matt? Was it a religious ceremony? I can’t remember that one, so maybe she can get married in the Church.
