Now that it seems apparent that Bo will accompany his mother to treatment, I wonder about Peggy McCay. If PR was not leaving would she still be running the pub? This way will she remain on the show or not? In other words I hope her tenure was not cut short because of Peter’s leaving.

very creative up their sleeves, I’m afraid we may be seeing the end of Caroline.  Although, from the way Kayla has described this "treatment center" they shouldn’t be gone THAT long.  And, personally, I can’t see Caroline leaving the pub like that for just anyone to run.  Maybe one of her kids, but it’s out of the question for Kayla, and Bo will be with her.  Forget Roman and I don’t expect to see Frankie or Kim returning.

They sure are keeping this one under wraps.  Peter only has one more week.  Sounds like he will go out with a whimper instead of a bang like Lexie did.

I’m also liking the family rallying around Caroline and would hope that most children would do the same thing for their mother or father.  You raise your children and, when the time comes for the roles to be reversed, it’s nice to see that Caroline’s children are now ready to switch places.  I’ve been caring for and living with an elderly relative with advanced dementia, and watching how swiftly the disease overcame her beautiful mind gave me a wake-up call, to say the least.  We just never know what will happen to us, but if something like this should happen to me, I would hope ….. no, I would know ….. that my children would be just as concerned, loving and caring as Bo has been with Caroline.  I think Caroline’s fear is the same as mine …. that if and when the time comes that life as we know it no longer exists, but we are still alive, I always pray to God that I never become a burden to children or to any of my loved ones, and I think that’s why Caroline is fighting them so hard.  When she referred to the next holiday as the 4th of July, I actually got a lump in my throat thinking to myself, Dear Lord, please don’t let this happen to me.

Although my doctor assures me that the dimentia patient doesn’t really suffer as they don’t know what’s happening.  I hope he’s right.  It’s just such a burden on the care giver, as I’m sure you know.

I have had no dimentia in my family at all and I understand it tends to run in families so I hope I will avoid it.  On the other hand, practically every relative I had died of cancer.  However, since I’ve already had it, maybe I’ll miss that bullet too.

I just fear a lingering and painful death.  My sister had colon/lung/liver cancer and lingered for months.  I think to this day my nephew gave her an overdose of morphine at the end because he called all of us and told us we should all come and see her and she died the next day.  Not that I blame him at all.  If I get in the position, I hope someone would do it for me.

Both Melanie and Lexie CHOSE to leave DOOL, and they both had extensive storylines. Jack was let go and had nothing. Bo didn’t really have a choice–who can accept a 45% pay cut in thee days? So after being "forced out", he doesn’t even get a final great story? That is just wrong!!

this dementia SL because A)Peggy M is doing a great job, B) It’s a condition that in some way most of us have ties to, and C) Days is only scratching the surface here. Not to mention I’ve more interest in this SL than most on this show.

is that period where you still have some memory but are aware of your mind going. That to me would be agonizing. I know how frustrating it is just when I can’t recall names at times.
I always think of that letter Ronald Reagan wrote when he knew his ultimate fate. So touching and heartbreaking.

colon/lung/liver cancer.  She fought the good fight for 4 1/2 years and died at the age of 57.

My sister died at 56!  I don’t remember exactly how long she went from her first diagnosis until she died but it was also several years.

Because she had colon cancer, I now have to have a colonoscopy every two years instead of five.  I guess once a family member has had it, you are more likely to get it.  My father died of pancreatic cancer and it’s the same thing there but there’s no tests for that one.

he died (not the cause of his death) and he caught it so early that he never had to have any chemo or radiation.  One of my sisters has irrital bowel syndrome and another has Crohns disease, so I have a colonoscopy every three years.  I had no idea our lives took such a similar path.

Peggy has not said anything about retiring.  Unless they are writing her out without her knowledge she is not leaving.
