Can anyone recommend a good book on tape (cd) ?? My mom and I are going to NC next weekend, so we like to listen to books on tape. it makes the 9 hours go by faster! Thanks!
October 24, 2010 at 4:14 pm #1732053tdogsParticipantread than breath I think. I picked a few off my shelves to recommend but without knowing what she likes to read it makes it a bit more difficult. And tell Mom the CD’s at her local library are free!
Historical romance: you can’t get much better than Diana Gabaldon – start out with "Outlander" and Mom will be hooked on the other 11 or 12 books of hers. Warning though, these are long books, but you never want them to end. She had a unique take on the story twist and they have all been NY Times best sellers. Kathleen Woodiewiess is great too.
Political /Fiction Novels – any from : Joel C. Rosenburg, or Vince Flynn, John Girsham or Brad Thor’s books – all NY Times best sellers.
Political Non-Fiction any from: Michelle Malkin, Mark Levin, Laura Ingrham, Dick Morris, David Limbaugh, (all NY Times best sellers)

October 24, 2010 at 6:32 pm #17322NoraParticipantWe both dont like to read. I try to read, I like Tess Gerritsen, She has that new series on TNT, Rissoli and Isles, she has a series on those guys. We listened to a book on the way to Maryland a few years ago about a quilting circle, I thought it would be boring, but it was actually pretty good. I’ll take a look at those books you guys recommened, they all sound good. she likes CSI, and mainly watches shows on tbs, so if that gives you an idea of what she likes to watch. Thanks again guys!
October 24, 2010 at 7:09 pm #1732353tdogsParticipantbook I can think of along those lines and the Rossoli and Isles type thing is Lis Wiehl’s "Face of Betrayal" – a suspense/murder/who-dun-it book that came out last year.
October 24, 2010 at 7:54 pm #17324SWParticipanteven though they are a series, she only comes out with one a year, you don’t need to read them in order. I think they are the best. Lots of action, suspense, mystery, and a little psychic stuff too. I can’t wait for each new one but it takes a while for them to come out. Check the local library as the early books have been out for several years now.

October 25, 2010 at 11:47 am #17331BonbonParticipantSomebody here put me on to this TV show and I’ve really enjoyed it. And, my book club has selected one of them (Ice Cold) as one of our books this year. It’ll be interesting reading one of the books now that I can picture the characters.
October 25, 2010 at 6:42 pm #17339NoraParticipantThat would be me Bonbon! LOL I recommended it when it first came out on tv. you should read the series from the beginning. it’s more interesting. Harvest is the first one in the series. There are 13 counting ICE COLD. I have that one but havent started reading it, I have the one before it too but am only a 3rd through it. I need to force myself to sit down and read sometimes, even though I love these books, it’s stil hard for me to sit dwn and read. (Id rather watch tv!) LOL. I’m glad you like it though!

October 30, 2010 at 1:14 pm #17488SWParticipantI love her books. I think it is quite similar to Risolli and Isles with a male/female main character combo.
October 30, 2010 at 3:50 pm #1749553tdogsParticipantthat would be fun! "Virtual" wine and snacks…tonight we will be having a red merlot along with braised beef cabbage rolls, with chocolate cake for dessert after our discussion of the New York Times and Amazon’s hot new best seller "……."
