Congrats on your twins. hope things are going well and they are thriving. I had twin boys and know how much time they take, especailly since I has 3 other young ones. Relax, do what you can and love them every single day cause they grow upn way to fast. My boys are now 27 and both got married in 2010.
I also agree that we need to give newbees a chance cause it takes awhile for them to make the part their own. I really like Dario and will miss him. Taylor—not so much. We need to be positive about the show and be happy it is still on the air!!!!

I think the problem on Days is that they bring in young actors and put them in the forefront immediately and then dump the "old timers." That’s what I don’t like. But some of the younger characters have grown on me. I really like Chad. Can’t say I liked him in the Mia storyline, but I like him a lot now, and I think his story is developing. New Abby is growing on me. Didn’t like her too much at first, but she and Chad have chemistry so that’s a . I like Will. I like the guy that was always hanging out with Kinsey, I can’t remember his name. Sadly, I don’t see many young likeable females. I wish they would develop Gabby more if she’s going to be on the show. She seems too whiney for me. Maybe her character will blossom.

I do not care for "newer" characters that are "dumped" in our laps and we are suppose to know their history and even care about them.
I disliked Mel intensely when she first came on board, however once they gave her a history she was watchable…for awhile…then she reverted and became an even more whiney, "snively" little girl just as she was growing as a character and once again I didn’t care as much for her.
As far as Taylor, it’s the actress, (of whom I’m sure is wonderful), but all I see is Ava. And throwing first Taylor at EJ with that repeated scene (how many times did they show that? I lost count!) on the pier made me ill with motion sickness.
Chad was given a story history (a not good story with Mia), but we slowly knew his history, about his mom and Kate, finding out Stefano was his father, (and now we care that Chad may becoming a chip off the old block)…which I hope John rescues him from the DeMera clan before it is too late.
"T" is the kid that hung around Kinsey, and he is a great little actor, I would watch him if they gave him a story line. He was one of the few teens in the summer teen SL’s I would stop FF’ding for.

We finally got a company that could staff us every night and therefore have been able to get sleep and get time in the evening with just one baby. During the day it is still really hectic with trying to work and take care of the babies, but we are slowly getting through it. We are hoping we can finally convince our insurance company to pay for 24 hour nursing for our son, because at some point our managers are not going to be so flexible and then we are screwed.
I have had some more time to myself because DH and I are doing a split duty thing that has been good. It allows me to get a little me time to come out and post here or catch up on days. Not much time a day, but just enough to get refreshed, so I don’t loose my mind as I was before.
June 20, 2011 at 3:18 pm #24671IzzyBParticipantDon’t get me wrong, I love the old characters too. But I think they have had SLs too. Maggie and Victor are a perfect example of a SL going on while characters like Dario are being introduced. A new character has to be somewhat thrown in our face. They cant have a background SL developed without them being on the air. So I think that is why you see new characters on the screen a lot at first so their SL can be developed and we know more about them.
I don’t know, I guess I think we just need to be more patient to allow a character to develop before asking them to be thrown off the show. We can’t have everything we want, because a lot of what we ask for conflicts with stuff we don’t want. i.e. not wanting "cousins" to kiss, but no new characters not in the core family to be center stage.
June 20, 2011 at 4:04 pm #24672mommytutuParticipantUnless they just can’t act. Dario’s acting is getting better, but he’s still pretty stiff for me. One of the reasons I like Chad is because he never took center stage as soon as he appeared. He had his thing with Mia and then he was background. They just recently started using his character more and I really like the way he’s developed.
Taylor is a perfect example of a character over done. No matter who the actress is portraying the character, I have seen Taylor every freakin’ day and frankly I’m sick of her. The pier scene drove me up a wall with it’s million flashbacks. The saving grace moment was when they changed actresses. I was finally spared that scene. However, I have not been spared the character and I really don’t like her. They could have been so much more subtle. That’s all I’m saying. If you don’t throw them in my face everyday for a majority of the show, I’m more likely to want to watch that character get more airtime because I have slowly developed a relationship with them instead of being forced to develop a relationship with them.
June 20, 2011 at 4:20 pm #24676IzzyBParticipantI think they should not be on screen every day like Taylor, but maybe 2 days a week at the beginning. I also don’t think they should be as backburner as Chad was for so long. What is the point of spending money and paying a a new actor to be that backburner for so long. Also, as a new actor, even if they were not paid for their backburner time, why would they stick around and not find a new job. I think there needs to be a middle ground between how slow Chad’s backstory was built and how fast Taylor was built. Because I also don’t like Taylor. Like I said, maybe 1 to 2 days a week would be good.
