Monday Night glee for us both Patti! Annihilation for the Bills over the really terrible Jets and though a bit tougher for your Ravs, (what happened to the Saints this season?) both teams victorious.
Your division is just wild and no one can predict who will prevail. I’m hoping my Bills can help you out Sunday with a win over the surprising Browns. It’s gonna be a struggle though on a short week.
But for now I’m just celebrating a big win.November 25, 2014 at 3:22 pm #46007PattiParticipantalthough I do think the Bills would have beaten the Jets if the Bills had been ‘blindfolded’. Sad as the Jets looked, they are still a professional football team …. a horrible one, but a pro NFL team nontheless. I think everyone has come to realize that the Bills are a markedly improved team this season and they’re showing the league as well as the fans that the they are a threat this year, and I am honestly happy for them, and even moreso for their their fans. I know what a fanatic I am for the Ravens, but the Buffalo fans haven’t had this much to root for in quite a while.
As for the Ravens/Saints game, I am so proud of the Ravens performance against a very good team having a very bad year. The Saints are a team to be respected, and although I believe we truly are the better team this season, Drew Brees and Joe Flacco are two Superbowl MVP champions, and I found myself holding my breath more than once in that fourth quarter. BUT, we prevailed. I love Joe Cool, as we like to call him here in Charm City, but my game ball would go to Justin Forsett last night. This young man is to the Ravens what Sammy Watkins is to the Bills.
And yes, by all means, good luck with Cleveland next week, and I’m hoping for the Bills to bring home the win. Still can’t get over the race to the playoffs this season, especially for our division. All tied up again after this week, with only a half game separating first place from last. What a season!!!
December 1, 2014 at 1:56 pm #46041caseyParticipantAnother notch in the victory column for the Bills. Once again their superb defense carried the day and although playoff hopes hanging by a thread they are still in the hunt at 7-5. But a killer schedule upcoming where the Bills have to play Green Bay, Denver and old nemisis New England. Have to be realistic.
Patti, that must have been such a letdown for Ravs to lose after leading by ten. Such a heartbreaker! But their schedule is still favorable and this one will come down to the wire I think.December 1, 2014 at 9:53 pm #46042PattiParticipantI still haven’t recovered from our Ravens losing it in the 4th quarter, especially when we were ahead the entire game and allowed the Chargers to score 21 points in the 4th quarter and we had about 30 seconds to go all the way down the field. But, in all fairness, it was our game to lose. That 4th quarter was pitiful on our part. The defense was pathetic, not being able to stop them from making 9 out of 11 third downs, and our receivers dropped way too many balls. I really felt worse for Flacco, because when you can put up 33 points on the board and lose by one point, it tells me we are in serious trouble this season, even though we are still in the hunt. I’m not giving up, but my hopes of attaining another playoff are dwindling at best. Hey, congrats to the Bills though. Their defense looked like ours USED to!!! The Bills made a spectacular comeback and deserved the win. Our records are even now, so we’ll see how that goes, but if I had to put money on it, I think I’d take the Bills. LOL!!!
December 8, 2014 at 2:18 pm #46074PattiParticipantawesome win yesterday beating the Miami Dolphins 28-13, keeping us still in the hunt. Casey, that was a tough loss the Bills took yesterday at the hands of the Broncos, but they’re a tough team to beat by most standards. Wishing the best for both our teams, and still keeping the faith for making the playoffs, when everything starts all over again.
December 8, 2014 at 5:30 pm #46075caseyParticipantand beating the Bills’ rival Miami to boot. No one really expected Buffalo to have a chance at Broncos where they never lose at home but they sure had their chances. 11 penaltes and three turnovers will not get you a win. The Bills need a better QB, as their defense is capable of lining up with anyone. It only gets worse the next two weeks against “murderer’s row” Green Bay and New England.
Nice to know Cincy lost which helps you too. Pittsburgh is hard to figure – they can go from blowout to blowing up!December 9, 2014 at 12:29 am #46080PattiParticipantbetween questioning the refereeing and how they dole out the penalties, the rule changes regarding what players can and cannot do, how they hit a defenseless receiver, where and how they’re hit, i.e., helmut to helmut, and everything inbetween that constitutes contributing to a loss, sometimes it’s just not fun to watch a game, especially if your team’s in contention for a playoff spot. LOL!
December 14, 2014 at 11:11 pm #46126caseyParticipantWhoa baby, Bills knock off Aaron Rodgers and the Pack! No one gave them a chance but if anyone is playing better defense than the Bills who is? AR had only been picked off 3X all season until today when our 3rd string safety (appropriately named Rambo) intercepted him twice.
Still in the playoff hunt, though this offense needs a QB who can score in the redzone. Definitely their weakness.
And your Ravs Patti, winning too. Ain’t it grand!December 15, 2014 at 2:04 pm #46131PattiParticipantand a very special congratulations to your Bills for that spectacular win against Aaron Rogers and the Packers. Right now I’m excited for our Ravens as well, since we have the best schedule looking at the last two games of the regular season. Then, I have to come back down to earth and realize it’s "any given Sunday," but for now I’m extremely happy. Our defense was outstanding as well yesterday. No one thought for a minute that the Ravens would get that kind of game from the Jags. They are up and coming when it comes to a young and promising team for the future. I’m just glad we showed how strong our defense was yesterday, sacking Blake Bortels eight times, and our special teams looked great, even though injuries aren’t helping us any right now. All I can say is that no one better count out the Bills or the Ravens this season, that’s for sure, so continued good luck to us both. I LOVE DECEMBER FOOTBALL!!!
December 22, 2014 at 2:17 pm #46174caseyParticipantI can and cannot believe it. Bills lose to a 2-12 team and end playoff hopes. When they got help (ironically from your Ravs Patti) and had everything to play for. Where do I begin – awful O line, mediocre QB, and these bonehead coaches continuing to play a 3 tightend set to power running when they could not run the ball all year!! Plus 2 defense stars out for this game.
I do feel hopeful for next year IF they wise up and make changes. But right now this sucks.
I know you’re not feeling great either Patti with Flacco not exactly looking good yesterday. But at least you still have next week.December 23, 2014 at 2:54 am #46178PattiParticipantagainst Houston, so I have no expectations of them pulling out a win over Cleveland coupled with a loss tonight by the Bengals to Denver, and right now the Bengals are beating Denver 20-7; then a Ravens win and a loss next week for either the Bengals or Pittsburgh when they face one another in their final game of the season. This stupid tie the Bengals have certainly didn’t help either one of us, either casey. All I know is the Ravens are not a strong enough team this season to carry my hopes beyond any mathematical possibilities. Too bad for both of us and our teams!!
December 28, 2014 at 11:23 pm #46201caseyParticipantCongrats to you and the Ravs. In the playoffs! I know Baltimore hasn’t exactly been playing their best game lately but anything can happen in the post season.
As for the Bills, even if they had won last week, ironically the Ravs would have beat them out for the last spot. But they did win in NE which they have not done since 2000 and did shut down Brady for the first half in which he played. And the Bills posted their first winning season in a decade.
With some tweaking and if they can keep their defense together, who knows, next year may be the playoffs.
Meanwhile, I’ll be rooting for your guys Patti!December 29, 2014 at 2:46 pm #46202PattiParticipantbut, as you and I well know, now it all goes back to zero, but the Ravens need to get started earlier. These fourth quarter wins are causing me to lose my fingernails. LOL! I love that we’re playing the Steelers….so apropo for our greatest rival ever. Just wish it was in M&T Bank Stadium rather than Heinz Field. Oh well, may the best team win. The Bills are no doubt THE spectacular team of the future. They had something to prove this season, and they certainly pulled it off. I have a feeling you’re going to be very happy with them next year. Meanwhile, I’ll be rooting like crazy for the Ravens on Saturday. Thanks casey, and Happy New Year!
January 4, 2015 at 3:03 pm #46239PattiParticipantthey better NOT EVER count us out!!! Ravens beat Pittsburgh 30-17 AT Heinz Field, IN Pittsburgh, and Charm City is going wild today. Don’t know how long this fan’s head will remain in the clouds, but right now it will be up there for a while.
Ravens have been physically beaten up in games this season, but in most cases they come back and win, and that’s exactly what we did last night in the opening game of the playoffs. With a weak secondary, the loss of some superstar players, and more than 20 players on the injured reserve list facing one of the toughest schedules in the NFL, the Ravens prove time and time again that they can hang with the big dogs, "take a lickin, and keep on tickin" …. so if my purple pride seems a little out of control today, especially after beating Big Ben and the Steelers last night, it’s well deserved, at least here in Baltimore. Now we move onto Foxborough to play the Patriots next week. Maybe I’ll have regained my breath and some fingernails by then …. GOOOOOO RAVENS!!!!
January 4, 2015 at 5:40 pm #46240caseyParticipantPatti, your Ravs just seem to come to life during the playoffs. Now granted the Steelers were without their star RB but as you point out Baltimore is the wallking wounded. I think a big mistake by Tomlin was allowing Ben to return right after the concussion protocal. The backup QB had something going on and well could have scored a TD and then wouldn’t things have gotten interesting!
Now the Ravs must go to NE where the Pats rarely lose. I would love nothing better than for your guys to knock off the Bills’ longtime rival.
Speakng of Buffalo, talk about end of season happenings! Out of nowhere QB Orton retires, and then Coach Marone. He had a clause in his contract where he had a three day window to abandon ship with $4 million to be given him for doing nothing!! Who on earth negotiated that bonehead out? It’s not like Marone was some hotshot coach when he signed on two years ago. I cannot believe the Bills brass agreed to that! And Marone showed his lack of class by saying nothing when he left. Good riddance – it was not Marone’s brilliant coaching that got the Bills on the winning end, but all defense which he had nothing to do with. Another newcomer in a revolving Bills coaching door. Please, just get us a capable QB and someone who is a bit more aggressive in offense approach. -
