It’s always great to have the support of another woman who loves football the way I do. Yes, the Steelers were without Le’veon Bell, but our defense was so strong yesterday, I’m not sure it would have mattered that much, seeing as how our defense limited Big Ben and his potent passing attack, caused two interceptions and a couple of turnovers as well. I will agree, our performance was the kind of game the Ravens have come to expect in the postseason; just hope we can keep it going next week. I realize that the Pats are the No. 1 seed, especially at home; but, I also remember we beat them in their house in previous playoff games …. twice!!!
As for the Bills, they did take a double hit, losing a head coach and a quarterback at the end of their season, so no doubt they will be heavily recruiting during their off-season. Lots of coaches to choose from or at least interview from what I’ve read, although they may decide to wait for the draft to pick up a really good quarterback. If there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s the impression they have made in the league this season. So good luck to them in their search for not only a great coach, but a great quarterback as well.

January 11, 2015 at 1:37 pm #46288PattiParticipantI couldn’t be more proud of the Baltimore Ravens. How many other teams make it to the playoffs 6 times in 7 years? That was one fabulous, explosive game, even though we finished 5 points short of a win. We had the chance, but it just didn’t work out in our favor. I could list a dozen or more reasons behind what I believe went wrong, but I’m not going to do that. Both teams played great; both QB’s looked terrific; the offense and defense on both teams were evenly matched, AFAIC, and I think it was just a matter of our timing running out at the end of the game. I’m proud of the Ravens, but can’t say one negative word against the Patriots or the way they played the game. They came to win and they did. They had a terrific season and deserved to be there. Whether or not they go any further, well I guess we’ll see. Now, I can sit back, relax, and enjoy the playoffs, along with the rest of the fans who don’t have a horse in the race. Although I doubt we’ll see a more exciting game than we did last night between the Ravens and the Pats. Good luck to all teams still in it; but, if I had to pick one to root for, it would be the Colts, and that even surprises me, because I don’t think the Irsays deserve it, but the team and Andrew Luck do, IMO. Anyway, so long 2014/15 season from this Ravens fan. Charm City couldn’t be more proud of our Ravens, Coach Harbaugh and his fabulous coaching staff led by Gary Kubiak (OC) and Dean Pees (DC) and their staff; as well as our truly fabulous owner, Steve Bisciotti, and of course, the greatest GM in the NFL, … Ozzie Newsome! See you all next season!!!
January 11, 2015 at 2:19 pm #46289caseyParticipantI agree Patti, you guys have nothing to hang your head over. But even when the Ravs were up two tds I still had the feeling Brady and Co would pull it out. But wow Flacco with those 4 Tds so impressive. I think if you didn’t have those defensive injuries might have been a different outcome.
NE being at home is a big advantage and looking forward to the Colts/Broncos. If the Colts win it will be all Luck because otherwise I don’t think they are strong enough in other areas. Denver is oh so tough at home so it will be a hard assignment for Indy.
Meanwhile as I sit here it seems Rex Ryan will be our new Bills coach. After years of no name inferior coaches, new management (and deep ockets) decided to go for a bigee. Whether it will be a good fit we will see next season.January 11, 2015 at 2:55 pm #46290dvalParticipantI believe Rex is a better coach than management and ownership let him show. I wish him luck in Buffalo where it appears he is going.
And Patti…I just don’t like Bellichek or Brady no matter how good they are…especially Bellichek LOL. just seems like a very unpleasant person.
January 11, 2015 at 3:15 pm #46291PattiParticipantdefense than he’s been used to having with the Jets, so I think there will be a good working relationship in that respect. As a matter of fact, that should be a done deal today, so I say good luck to your team, casey. I know I’m expecting to see great things from the Bills in the 2015/16 season.
I don’t have any fond feelings for either Tom Brady or Bill Belichik either, dval. They’re both way too whiney for pros; but, hey, they got the job done.
January 19, 2015 at 3:14 am #46339dvalParticipantBellyache and Pretty Boy are back to the Superbowl. I guess I have to start my novena so Wilson and the Seahawks will have a prayer to win, LOL.
January 19, 2015 at 1:16 pm #46340PattiParticipantI really thought they were going to win; as for the Patriotss, I honestly thought they would do exactly what they did and crush the Colts, but I did expect a little better performance from Luck and the Colts. Instead, they looked pathetic and completely out of their league, which they were, IMO. Luck may be a very good QB, but he certainly didn’t prove that to me yesterday. Well, since I have no horse in this race, and since I really don’t care who wins it (LOL), I’ll just predict a SB win for the Patriots win this season.
January 19, 2015 at 2:08 pm #46342caseyParticipantHow many goats to go around in this choke job. First off that absolutely irredeemable taunting penalty that took away a probable TD. Then the coach for wimping out on those field goals instead of going for it at least once.
Then, the worst was that Packer sliding on his interception when he should have gotten up and run which he had room to do. My gosh, a team that has 5 interceptions should always win.
Have nothing but respect for that gamer Rogers. That 12 yard run on one leg was heroic. Too bad his teammates let him down. Wanted GB to win but have to hand it to the Hawks – they hung in there and made it work.
As for Brady and Co, hard to believe people were talking “”washed up” at the start of the season. They looked like a juggernaut yesterday. But Luck just doesn’t have the D to help him in big games.January 19, 2015 at 2:24 pm #46344dvalParticipantAll those three pointers, they should have gotten seven at least once, or gone for it at least once.
And I think the “washed up” talk was just the impetus Brady needed to get the game back on.January 19, 2015 at 5:20 pm #46348PattiParticipantRavens Offensive Coordinator is Denver bound as the Bronco’s new "head coach". Too bad for us; he was a great OC, but I expected it as soon as they announced tht Gary’s close friend, John Elway, wanted to offer him the position after they fired Fox. I hate to see him go, but at least we have time to do a good search for his replacement. Kubiak’s roots are in Denver so it’s no surprise. I just wish he didn’t make that remark that he had no intention of leaving the Ravens when he was being propositioned by other teams. Of course, that was before he learned Denver fired Fox and wanted to offer him the head coaching job, but good OC’s are not a rarity. Hope we pick up a good one, but knowing Ozzie Newsome’s history, I’m sure we’ll be satisfied with his replacement. Question is, will Joe Flacco, who seemed to really get on well with Kubiak? Joe knows the Ravens so well, I’m a little surprised they don’t allow him to call his own plays anyway, but we’ll see how this works out for us in the long run.
