I am so sick of this stupid storyline. I really need to quit watching, but I’m sure I won’t. I quess I’m addicted.
Carly’s obsession with Melanie is pathetic. If she was so in love with her "daughter" and wanted to keep her, why did she wait all those years to look for her. As bull headed as she is now, I’m sure she could have gotten away from Lawrence much sooner. She claims Lawrence went "crazy" and said he was going to have Melanie killed. I don’t think Lawrence would have waited 18 years to do it because he was so vindictive when Melanie was born(if Carly was telling the truth. ) I think Carly is a liar, murderer, burglar(I still can’t get over her breaking in to Bo’s house when she got to Salem.) She can’t be trusted and Bo is so STUPID.
I know Vivian is evil, but I think Carly is just as evil. She’s also played the sympathy card to the fullest. If she had any common sense, she would have handled the whole situation with Melanie differently.
February 20, 2010 at 6:16 am #10667GoodyParticipantShadow, I agree with a lot of your points. For the life of me, I don’t understand waiting 18 or 19 years to look for her. Carly seems to have done everythlng wrong, and Bo has enabled her. I have no sympathy for Carly.

February 20, 2010 at 12:17 pm #10669BonbonParticipantis that she was okay without her being in her life until Lawrence’s "illness" made him go crazy and he told Carly he was going to kill her "bastard spawn." So that was when she felt she had to find her and "protect" her. That makes sense to me but I agree with a lot of the other stupid, stupid, stupid things she’s done. But then, if she had acted like a normal person, would we even be watching?
February 20, 2010 at 1:40 pm #10672PattiParticipantand even less for Bo. I’m almost to the point of hoping that Hope does move on with her life. Bo is weak and when his marriage began to crumble, he immediately accepted Carly back into his life; hell, into his bed. I am so disappointed in Bo Brady, even more-so than Carly and/or Hope. As for Carly’s irrational behavior, let’s face it, what she feels for Melanie is not love…it’s guilt. How can you love someone who has not been in your life for at least 18 years, even if that person is your child. She didn’t even know what she looked like until she found her in Salem, and hadn’t bothered to find out before then. All she had to go on was a baby picture. Please….I’m not buying her "I’ve loved you since the day you were born" routine. Plain and simple, she feels guilty for the way Melanie had to grow up; and, frankly, she should. She’s been a coward and a horrible mother; and, well, let’s face it, Mel would have been better off without her, that’s for sure. After all, Vivian’s real disdain was for Carly, not Melanie; that is until she found out Mel was Carly’s daughter. Of course, 3 months from now they’ll all be sharing a Mother’s Day brunch together, telling each other how happy they are to be in each other’s lives. Grrrrrrrr!
February 20, 2010 at 2:11 pm #10676caseyParticipantLike Carly – the gutsy, determined, “strong” woman that keeps being pounded into our heads – couldn’t find a way in 18 years to get away from Lawrence?
And she keeps telling Bo how she needs to stay away from his family – but is easily convinced otherwise. What is she even doing in a relationship w/ a married man – with anyone – when her daughter is supposedly job 1 in a life threatening situation?
And Bo, I just can’t figure how and why Days has let him degrade to this point. He is the wimpiest, sorry excuse for anyone’s hero at the moment. He acts like he could care less about Hope. Through all their history of separations, his character was never portrayed at such a pathetic level.February 20, 2010 at 2:23 pm #10679justwonderingParticipantI think that it is the same for Sami—SYdney was Nicole’s child. Yet when Sami found out that Sydney was her she kept going on about "I want my little girl back" SHe really didn’t know her either!!!
February 20, 2010 at 4:02 pm #10683ChelluvParticipantthank you! i was wondering if anyone else thought the same thing i did
February 20, 2010 at 6:04 pm #10689shadowParticipantYou all do a great job of expressing your thoughts and feelings. It’s good to know that others feel the way I do about Carly and Bo.
February 20, 2010 at 9:41 pm #10692BonbonParticipantsome of these shows that have been on lately where they find a long-lost child who was given up at birth. In every single case, when they met, they instantly hugged and cried, all the while professing their love for each other. So, I believe there must be something there biologically between a parent and child even when there has been no contact for many, many years.
In fact, one case actually made me think of Carly and Melanie. The girl had gotten pregnant and wanted to keep the baby but her mother would not let her come home unless she gave it up for adoption. For the next 45 years she always wondered about that child. When she was found and they eventually met for the first time, it was so VERY loving and touching.

February 22, 2010 at 11:27 pm #10741Ms. JakeParticipantI was under the impression that Lawrence’s mental condition started slowly and got worse.and they had a few good years together. And just about the time Carly had the affair(guessing their relationship was pretty bad by then) Lawrence was treating her horribly, and by the time she was ready to deliver, he was a monster! Instead of killing her baby right there and then, he gave her away, and the baby would live as long as she would not inquire, mention or say anything about the child. He then kept Carly prisoner under lock & key all these years…..That’s why, when she had the chance…and was alone with him, attacked him to set herself free. Vivian also hated Carly even more, and vowed to kill this child that Lawrence didn’t get around to.
February 23, 2010 at 12:07 am #1074653tdogsParticipantburied Carly alive – I’d say you are right on on your summation that Viv absolutely hates Carly. It musta killed Viv when Lawrence took Carly away "to live happily ever after". I’ll bet Vivian egged Lawrence on many a time to devil Carly – there must be some gene in that family than goes bad after awhile given Lawrence and Vivy’s personality traits. I’d like to see how Carly and Lawrence’s son turned out, (think Carly mentioned that they were not close).
February 23, 2010 at 1:08 am #10749DeeLanParticipantNickalous was closest to Aunt Viv.
