If Carly’s trying to get on Melanie’s good side, she certainly is going about it all wrong. What a perfect opportunity today to have shown her some compassion when she was talking about her life growing up. Instead, Carly sits there and stares at her. Carly, you need to enrol in Remedial Basic Relationships, 101.
January 20, 2010 at 12:22 am #980253tdogsParticipantjust come out and tell Melanie instead of sitting there with that strange look on her face every time? She came all this way to Salem, got a job, had an affair with Bo and yet the reason she say’s that she went to Salem in the first place is because of Mel, yet she will not tell her the truth? Come on woman!
January 20, 2010 at 12:28 am #9803GoodyParticipantApparantly Carly can only relate to men. I don’t remember her having a conversation with any other female except to fight and bicker. Anyway, who wants to talk to someone who constantly zones out and acts crazy. Sorry, but Carly is not gaining any points with me. She seems to cause trouble everywhere she shows up. Go get her Vivian!!

January 20, 2010 at 3:11 am #9806Ms. JakeParticipantTelling someone this kind of news is a big deal and has to be dealt with gently and not rushed. Right now they are not on the best terms….frankly, I think it’s ridicules how Melanie is treating Carly, but that aside…I think Carly is trying to get to know her and build a relationship first, before blurting out she’s her mother. And I thought I saw Carly holding back tears when she heard what Melanie was telling her about her pimp father…Carly has to be careful how she acts and what she says because Vivian is waiting and watching everything Carly does.
January 20, 2010 at 4:52 am #9810shadowParticipantCarly is pathetic. I am so sick of her hysteria. She sure can’t blame Vivian for her stupid phobia today. This whole sl is so ridiculous. When did she suddenly know that Melanie is the one that’s her daughter. Carly doesn’t know how to interact with people, especially Melanie. I don’t blame Melanie for her reaction every time she’s around her. I think Melanie would be better off if she never finds out Carly is her real mother.
Maggie was GREAT today when she confronted Kate.
January 20, 2010 at 1:44 pm #9820PattiParticipantboth Carly and Melanie are being portrayed as ridiculous, to say the least. When I saw those flashbacks yesterday of what Lawrence did to Carly when she was giving birth, it made my blood run cold. No wonder she stabbed the *astard. My only question to her now would be…what took you so long? As for Melanie, she has been wearing this invisible shield for so long, she doesn’t know how to act any other way. Sometimes her actions grate on my nerves so bad, all I can think is: when are they going to get rid of this character; other times, like yesterday, I realize how broken she truly is inside and everything on the outside is masked with everything from downright rudeness to jealousy, from jealousy to manipulative, and the list goes on and on. I think when she does love, she truly loves hard because she has never known how to in her young life, such as how she feels toward Maggie, Brady, Max, and at times, Mia. Will Phillip be the one to finally bring her out of her insecure shell….not on your life, but for now she sees him as some sort of powerful salvation. I hope she turns out okay with Carly being her mom one day, but it will be interesting to watch her metamorphosis from now till then.
January 20, 2010 at 3:05 pm #9823mbwParticipantAlthough it will be hard to take, Carly isn’t being fair to Melanie by withholding the truth. The longer she takes to tell Melanie, the more difficult it will be for Melanie to come to terms with the fact that Carly is her bio mother.
No one likes feeling as though others have been operating with information that they are being kept from.
At this point, it’s coming across that Carly is protecting herself more trying to protect Melanie. Carly can’t face the rejection.
January 20, 2010 at 6:07 pm #9831BonbonParticipant…the purpose of not telling Melanie that she is her mother. How is that protecting her? What’s Mel going to do when she finds out, go running to Vivian and say, "Guess who I am?" Again, poor, poor writing. (I think I’m going to store this phrase for easy access in the future. It seems I’m using it more and more all the time.)
January 20, 2010 at 8:30 pm #9835IzzyBParticipantCarly is scared of how Mel will react. I think it is to protect Carly, not Mel. I think someone else said this and I agree with them.
January 20, 2010 at 11:43 pm #984553tdogsParticipantMel’s reaction, that’s why she came to Salem in the first place. Yes, she may want to ease into the explanation, but with what Carly is doing now, she’s prolonging her agony of Mel’s dislike of her (which is a bit contrived since the begining of those two’s interactions if ya ask me). Mel at this point is going to explode at Carly when she hears the news anyway – but if Carly doesn’t freeze up like a deer in a headlight like she has been doing with all her scenes with Mel – Carly should just go ahead and "rip off the bandage". Mel will pout and be angry for awhile, but underneath I think she’s a scared little girl still and would welcome a real mother.
Now that the horror of what Lawerence did to Carly is out with some details (after today’s show), I would think that Carly has the worst of it behind her and she should do what she came to town to do! If that means telling Melanie, knocking Vivian on the head so be it. As it looks, I think Hope is going to get more involved with Viv, and end up doing something stupid against Carly now. (And also fall into Justin’s bed).
January 21, 2010 at 2:14 am #9849IzzyBParticipantI think Hope is going to get close to Vivian to find out the truth. I think in the end Hope is going to save the day and Bo and Carly are going to wonder why they didn’t tell her from the beginning. Hope and Bo will get back together and Justin and Carly will have their sad club together while Justin helps Carly and Mel get along as mother/daughter.
BTW, I did not realize it because we are here, but there is a large group of fans who would rather see Bo and Carly together. So I think this drawn out SL is to make that crowd happy for a little.
January 21, 2010 at 2:59 pm #9856PattiParticipantafter Melanie lights into her about staying out of her life, calling her names like "the husband killer" or, lately, "murderess", and Carly just squints her eyes and tears up, I want to slap her on the back and scream, "SPIT IT OUT, WOMAN!" I mean, isn’t that what you came here for…to find your kid. Well, you found her, damn it; did quite a lot of damage along the way, but it’s time to let the cat out of the bag. I’m sorry, but I’m back on the Hope bandwagon right about now, although her and Justin have about as much chemistry as Stephanie and any man she hasn’t already sucked the life out of. Okay, don’t throw things at me…y’all know I never liked Stephanie.
January 21, 2010 at 3:10 pm #9859IzzyBParticipantI can’t be on Hope or Bo’s side because both of them are being stupid. Hope kisses Justin and doesn’t expect that to get back to Bo? Bo then lies to Phillip again expecting that to not get back to Hope? They are both playing games for their own agendas without thinking of how it will hurt the other one. Until the two of them sit down and talk everything out, instead of lying to each other, their relationship will not work. Until they both admit their true feelings and not just being upset over the hurt, their relationship will not work. So as far as I am concerned they both need to do stuff and are both to blame for their issues. Oh yeah, they also both need to stop playing the blame game and start looking at their own mistakes.
I won’t throw anything at you for the comment about Stephanie. I kind of agree. She had chemistry with Max, but that eventually went away. I thought she had chemistry with Phillip. but that moved way to quickly and she then got on her high horse that she has no right being on. I have never felt she had chemistry for Nathan and she does not deserve him since she played games at the beginning and she still is. She knows Nathan and Mel belong together, but she will do anything to push Mel towards Phillip and to get Nathan to push away Mel. Nathan deserves more than the games she is playing.
January 22, 2010 at 4:37 am #9888macrrParticipant…"although her and Justin have about as much chemistry as Stephanie and any man she hasn’t already sucked the life out of". Very funny, and I totally agree!!
