Okay now she has gone off the deep end. Maybe she’s taking the same sleeping pills Hope was or something. Getting on Stephanie about telling the truth and only worrying about herself getting caught? Not the Caroline Brady I know. At this point she might as well go after Victor and get busy, she has clearly tossed her ethics out the window in the name of "family" just like Vic.
December 9, 2010 at 3:15 pm #18835bluebonnetParticipantthis sudden change in Caroline’s personality is getting on my nerves. I’ll forgive it if they have a good explanation, such as a medical reason, but if not, then this personality switch is just silly.
December 9, 2010 at 3:33 pm #18836PattiParticipantI wonder if Caroline has some potentially life threatening illness, something like a brain tumor, that is causing her personality to change so dramatically. I’m not buying she has turned into this shrew-like woman simply because she is jealous of Victor and Maggie, or hates that Parker is a Kiarakis, or any such nonsense, but a debilitating illness such as a brain tumor (not suggesting that’s what it is, as there are many others) would, in fact, make a person suddenly do all sorts of things they normally would not due. And there is something on the spoilers board that could prove this to be the case.
December 9, 2010 at 4:11 pm #18843BonbonParticipantI would write her to be in the beginning of Alzheimer’s or some other kind of dementia. It’s certainly reasonable for a woman her age and could be stretched out for the remainder of her time on Days. For me, it would explain a lot about her recent actions (reasonably) and lend a treasure chest of stories of how it progresses, the hardships placed on her family, and a realistic (ha, yeah, I know, you can’t combine realistic and Days in the same sentence) approach to a real-life occurance faced by many, many families these days.
They could incorporate the need to take over the running of the pub, the necessity of 24/7 care (eventually, not immediately), the frequent doctor’s visits, and how it affects each one of her family. Has this ever been done on a soap before? If they can tackle autism, certainly they can tackle this.
Please, PTB, if you are reading this, please consider it. I’ve several friends who have gone through this and it can be very gut-wrenching and, oh, so sad.
December 9, 2010 at 5:30 pm #18854justwonderingParticipantThis may sound unacceptable, but could it be that a lifetime of "doing the right thing" and getting nothing but more sorrow and tragedy has made Caroline realize that sometimes people must do the wrong thing in order for it to be right? She always regretted letting Victor know about Bo and it did cause a strain on her marriage. Knowing how Philip threw away his son, she decided to make things right by giving Parker a loving family. I am not saying it is right, merely a desperate woman paying for her own past sins. She was trying to make the best a bad situation. She has no control over Sami so she tried to do right by Parker. Just a theory.
December 9, 2010 at 7:21 pm #18858DeeLanParticipantI agree. I’ve said from the beginning when Caroline started acting strange that it could be Alzheimers. I had an uncle with Alzheimers and I saw first hand what it did to the family. He was a man who was always laughing and I mean boisturous laughs that would rattle the walls. Before he was diagnosed he started getting angry at little things and would blow up at the drop of a hat. He got very tight with his money and was always counting what was in his wallet and looking at his checkbook. He also went through their savings and my aunt had no idea where the money went. After he was diagnosed he started forgetting people and would often get dressed to go to work even though he’d been retired for years. He’d have violent outbursts if he was over stimulated and the family was getting so embarassed and impatient when he’d keep repeating the same phrase or question over and over. They had to put locks up high on the doors because he’d run out of the house naked. They finally had to put him in a VA home that could watch him 24/7 so he wouldn’t hurt himself.

I see Caroline, even being a total reversal in character, just trying to set things right as she said.
