May 20, 2010 at 1:44 pm #13022BonbonParticipantI don’t know why I always seem to get wrapped up in shows that only last one season.
May 20, 2010 at 6:17 pm #1302753tdogsParticipantI really thought that both Mercy and Truama the more adult shows with some good writing would get picked up…heard last night on the radio that a writer/producer said that more people like drama and situation comedies like "Desperate Housewives", "Grey’s Anatomy", etc. – these kinds of shows are being picked up for fall and the reality shows are going by the wayside…I know a good story line keeps me coming back to watch week after week. Remember the show "M*A*S*H*? That had comedy/drama and everything all rolled into one and was well written – which is why it was on for 11 years. Another reason that why I’ve stuck by "Day’s" even when they don’t have a good story line I guess.
May 20, 2010 at 6:31 pm #13028BonbonParticipantbut they seem to have gone overboard on them lately once they discovered how cheap they are to produce.
What I absolutely CANNOT abide are situation comedies that use a laugh track. That irritates me so much. I just don’t understand why they have to use them. If something is funny, it’s funny. If it’s not, people laughing in the background are not going to make it funny. I don’t know why it rubs me the wrong way so badly but I will NOT watch any show with a laugh track because I find them horribly pathetic.

May 21, 2010 at 12:42 am #13038DeeLanParticipantWasn’t CBS also the network that had Jericho and they canceled that after the first season but the fans protested and they brought it back. The problem is, they have split seasons or show a few new episodes then have a month or more of reruns. When they start with new episodes again the viewers they had have already found something else to watch during that time slot. Why can’t they go back to the entire season of 22-26 episodes THEN take the summer off with reruns rather than all the breaks and reruns being constantly shown.
Primetime TV gives you an added respect for daytime actors/actresses. They film a new show every day, not a new show once a week for 4-5 episodes then get a month or more off.

May 21, 2010 at 2:43 am #13043annieoParticipantDon’t forget The Middle which is right before Modern Family. I tried watching Cougar Town but just didn’t care for it. The one actress who used to be on Drew Carey and later on Scrubs is on there. She must have had plastic surgery on her nose or lips because I can’t get past how bad she looks. The little bit I watched seemed to be mainly about an older woman going after the younger guys for sex. Maybe it’s improved since, but I lost interest. The Middle, on the other hand, and Modern Family can be downright hilarious. Love the kids in The Middle. I never like the father in Modern Family when he played Ed Bundy but think he’s great in this show.
May 23, 2010 at 6:02 pm #13092GrockieParticipanttry Cougar Town. It is mis-named. It’s actually very funny. The Middle I watch, but not a great fan.
I do want more more more comedies w/o the laugh track!!!!
