I just don’t understand this storyline. Chad can take care of Thomas! Why all this handwringing about custody? Jennifer is an addict, she cannot care for the baby. Why do Lucas and Adrianne have to have custody? Just have them watch the baby while Chad does whatever it is he is doing that renders him incapable of being a father! I just don’t get it. The writers are stretching this premise very thin.

Sami, Hope, Jennifer, Kayla, etc. But suddenly when it happens to a man, he’s not capable of taking care of his own child? It’s very frustrating and insulting to watch. Not to mention Lucas and Adrianne are starting their lives out together, plus they have grown children. Taking on a baby (that they’ve never spent ANY time with!) may not be their top priority. And what happened to Mary, she was always the one that watched the kids in the mansion, Chad can’t track her down to help him out?
I was wondering where Thomas was when Chad ran into Jennifer today, though.
September 3, 2016 at 12:38 pm #52118caseyParticipantbecause we see no evidence of neglect here. In fact, we’re always seeing Chad holding Thomas, talking to him, etc. Yes, Chad is emotional – who wouldn’t be? But like was said, fathers who lose wives do not crumble and give up their kids. Days is telling us he can’t care for his child, but not showing us.
September 3, 2016 at 2:33 pm #52126BonbonParticipantJenn’s mourning. Hasn’t she gone a little over the top? I can see taking out the baby pictures and crying over them but she’s acting like she’s going to melt into a puddle and disappear.
September 3, 2016 at 3:27 pm #52129caseyParticipantis before this Jennifer hardly paid any attention to Abby and had no clue what was going on in her life.
September 3, 2016 at 4:22 pm #52131dvalParticipantthe most is Jennifer’s constant implications that Chad didn’t take good care of her "baby girl". Abby was no baby, she was a grown woman and maybe Jenn’s belief that she needed someone to always "take care of her" played a big part in Abby’s issues. Chad was right on the other day when he reminded Jennifer that Abigail was always afraid she would become like her grandmother. If she has to hold someone responsible then it should be her family for passing on this predisposition, if that is what it is, to mental illness. Abigail never had to pay the price for anything, even when she set up Austin and almost caused him to lose his job and marriage. And when Chad said that Marlena suggested putting Abigail into the facility and Jenn said Marlena didn’t know what was best for her "little" girl I almost spit out my lunch laughing.
Jenn you are looking to blame everyone for your daughter’s issues and refusing to accept that it was just something latent in her and maybe, just maybe, you missed the early warning signs.
September 7, 2016 at 6:14 pm #52146bradysgmaParticipanttoday, so Ciara wasn’t the only one helping out with Thomas. I don’t see how it would take 4 people to care for 1 infant.
September 8, 2016 at 5:07 pm #52151justwonderingParticipantI really hate it when she always says, " my baby girl"!!!I get it she is devastated because no one should have to bury a child, but I don’t think the answer is to go after your child’s husband and try to take away his child. Especially wheb you, Jennifer are depressed and a recovering drug addict!!
Chad’ s has enough resources to get the help he needs to care for his child!! He has a butler, cook, maid and nanny. I think that is enough!! Sami, Hope and Kayla did it all by themselves!!
I think Jenn would be laughed out of court!
September 9, 2016 at 2:56 pm #52158mommytutuParticipantwe can even say Jenn is a recovering addict. What has she done that shows she’s in recovery? I wouldn’t trust her with a goldfish, much less a baby.

September 10, 2016 at 12:40 pm #52165caseyParticipantwas certainly the queen of that phrase!
September 10, 2016 at 2:01 pm #52166PattiParticipantthey refuse to let their children grow up. The way parenthood is portrayed on soaps is far from realistic in the real world, IMO.
September 10, 2016 at 2:44 pm #52171majencoParticipantThis whole custody storyline is a contrived flop. Give the baby back to Chad. Everyone here needs to grow up. There are plenty of single dads out there. Plus if Chad is mentally healthy enough to run a huge company than he’s able to take care of a baby in a mansion full of servants.
