After the hospital results proved she wasn’t pregnant, the ever petulant Sami refuses to tell Rafe and proclaims to Lexie “I AM pregnant and I’m gonna prove it!” and runs home to take a dozen tests.
Will this wild child ever grow up?August 22, 2011 at 11:46 pm #26041PattiParticipantEverbody HATES her so much. Well, I don’t. I think she has grown up…..a lot. It should be obvious that the one man she has found who doesn’t judge her, but loves her, unconditionally, is always there for her, would be the one she would actually want to have a child with. I wish her well with the new writers. Well, I hope that if Ali reads these boards, she will know that Samantha Gene has at least ONE fan who loves her.
August 22, 2011 at 11:51 pm #26042powerpaw2ParticipantAnd it is behavior like that which makes me believe the LAST thing Sami needs is another child! I think Ali is an awesome actress and seems like a genuinely nice person in real life. Hopefully she can convince the new writers to let Sami grow up once and for all.
August 23, 2011 at 12:29 am #2604453tdogsParticipantHowever, that being said, if Louise S. (aka Vivy) thinks the writers treated her character like trash, then Ali, had better watch out! I know she is the "golden fair haired child" but look what the show did to Dee and Drake. They were "golden geese" on the show as well and we all saw how well they were treated. Happened to other actors (characters) on the show as well. Ali is not immune nor is she teflon.
Most fans are tired of the same ol’ Sami after watching her the last 15 years, she is rinse and repeat in her actions. Ali is a great acress, but even she has got to be very tired of her character. You can see how predictable this character is after watching her for two months (or less), that is why so many fans are starting to turn on her.
Corday and the writers (old and new) will not let her grow up. They like that kind of character, ahhhh note to writers here – Shami is 36 to 38 years old on the show please stop making her a Peter Pan that will never grow up to a mature and thoughtful woman.
August 23, 2011 at 3:12 am #26048kprstrsParticipantI really like Sami, and my niece thinks she’s the greatest thing since sliced bread!!! I do wish that she was not so ‘predictable’ in her re-actions. She has gotten SO much better and has grown up TONS, especially since the family left.
August 23, 2011 at 10:23 am #26049BonbonParticipantThat is just Sami. I’ve met people like her and don’t think they will ever change, nor will Sami. If she’s hasn’t matured by now, it’s unlikely she ever will. Yes, I like her just the way she is. I’m afraid if they change her character, I may now like her as much or lose interest in her.
Now, about her refusal to believe she wasn’t pregnant. It was almost like she was blaming Lexi for it. Why in the world would she get mad at Lexi because her test was negative. And she should have told Rafe right away. Why let him go on thinking he’s going to be a daddy?
August 23, 2011 at 12:24 pm #26052caseyParticipantis what I was refering to. And not tellng Rafe – these are what I mean by adolescent behavior that Sami should have shed a long time ago. How many times has she promised to trust Rafe and to be honest w/him – and ten seconds later breaks that.
I believe Sami can still be impulsive, heart on her sleeve Sami without cementing her in as a perpetual teen.August 23, 2011 at 1:22 pm #26059luckeyParticipantchange Sami too much. Her impulsiveness has always been her trademark personality. For me, it’s her tantrums and her lying that need to be outgrown.
August 23, 2011 at 7:15 pm #26066drea4713ParticipantI love the character, and Ali does a great job portraying her. I was actually watching the show today with her and Rafe and wondering how people could think she HASN’T grown up? Yes, she still says and does a lot of things out of impulse, but she doesn’t lie to get her way or to get out of things and she doesn’t manipulate the man she supposedly loves. She is much more mature than the Sami I remember watching back in the 90s, obsessed with Austin and blaming John Black for all her troubles! Wow, I don’t miss that Sami at all! I love who she’s become, I think a lot of people can identify with her.
August 24, 2011 at 12:11 am #26072dvalParticipantand personally I didn’t find her reaction all that unreasonable. I believe they call it denial when you are given news you don’t want to hear. I know many people who would immediately react the way Sami did, doubting, questioning. . And why not question Lexie initially..she is a DiMera after all. But it was all deflection to give herself time to deal with the facts. People do it all the time.
I disagree with people who think she is still the same old Sami. Same old Sami would have been Nicole pretending to be pregnant desperately trying to cling to a guy who she didn’t really trust to love her. But she finally came to grips with her situation and good for her.
August 24, 2011 at 3:16 am #26076justwonderingParticipantI took it to mean that Sami was very disappointed that she wasn’t pregnant. She could tell that Rafe was excited and felt that it was her fault that she had failed him by not being pregnant.. I also felt that she couldn’t bring herself to tell him cause she know how much he wanted it. This to me shows that she has matured cause she is putting Rafes’ hopes, dreams and feelings ahead of her own.
August 24, 2011 at 1:21 pm #26078luckeyParticipantus are tired of with Sami. Her basic reaction was certainly understandable…it’s just her yelling at Lexi that brought back the memories of immature Sami.
August 24, 2011 at 2:42 pm #26080dvalParticipantActually I think it was the body language that Sami used that brought back those memories of immature Sami. She crossed her arms and got all stiff backed. If she had seemed a little more dismayed, more dejected body language, like she was trying to convince herself that it wasn’t true, it might have come across differently. But I thought overall she handled it well and rather like an adult, LOL.
