Ciara is no more than just “ok” for me, and I’m having a hard time truly feeling the horror and despair of her Chase experience. It seems quite a superficial portrayal – the don’t touch me stuff you expect, acting out on her birthday. But I don’t want her to simply say “when will I get over this,” but show me the pain. It’s kind of just ho hum for me; I’m hardly riveted.
March 21, 2016 at 10:52 pm #51209PattiParticipantshe’s been in the role long enough to at least realize that she’s just not pulling it off; that her emotional conflicts are just not doing it, Sorry, but I’m beginning to think the only reason Vivian Jovanni is still in the role of Ciara Brady is because she looks so much like she could be Bo ad Hope’s daughter. I knew her role through this rape sl was going to be too meaty for her, and she has proved my point, to me at least.
March 22, 2016 at 1:35 pm #51213mommytutuParticipantI agree, she hasn’t pulled this off. I just don’t see the real angst. I feel badly for the character, but the actress isn’t cutting it.
March 22, 2016 at 2:53 pm #51217BonbonParticipantI don’t think she is as bad as most make her out to be. I believe that is just her demeanor IRL. I don’t have a problem with her.
However, I DO have another problem with the stupid writers. They discussed how hard it would be for her to go through a trial. Hello? He admitted to the crime and pled guilty. There will be no trial unless he should decide to recant his plea and there hasn’t been even a hint of him doing that. So my question to these hacks is, why a trial? All there would be is a sentencing hearing which she doesn’t have to be there for.

My daughter saw Ciera and turned to me and said, "that girl can’t act." I don’t think it’s just those of us on the board. It’s pretty evident that she just isn’t cutting it.
March 23, 2016 at 12:46 pm #51235JohnnyboyParticipantThen I guess we can call all the casting directors on the show idiots. They are the ones who choose her, so unless she was the only actor up for the role, she impressed them enough for the part.
How often do posters on this site comment how badly someone’s acting is and months from that point commend the
person for a terrific job.
While she is not Emmy worthy, she is doing okay and is acting like a teen with angst would. Now if she should be
recast then we would know the powers that be realized they made a wrong choice on the actress, but for now, let’s just enjoy the show….
There are others on the show, veterans for that matter who still are stilted in their delivery and mannerisms. (no names please)March 23, 2016 at 3:50 pm #51239PattiParticipantor perhaps I should say a Vivian Jovanni fan, and that’s fine; you’re entitled to feel that way, but I don’t see the need to criticize those on this site who are not, and this site is kind compared to other sites with DOOL message boards.
March 23, 2016 at 4:52 pm #51240bluebonnetParticipantsaid about some of the veterans. While I’m not a huge fan of the actress playing Ciera, I do think she is doing as well as some of the current actors on the show, as well as many of the actors when they first started.
March 23, 2016 at 7:55 pm #51241dvalParticipantBut I wouldn’t call the casting directors idiots, exactly. I think she got the part because of how much she looks like she could really be a Bo/Hope offspring.
And as far as criticism goes, she is in a field where criticism is the norm. And we all don’t have to like every actor or actress on the show or in movies or on the stage. There are plenty of people considered fine actors/actresses that I just do not care for.
