Days doing a ‘gay’ storyline and they had possible characters: Carly, Rafe (Yuck! I don’t want this one at all!!) and Chad/Will. Carly was mentioned as she was in a gay storyline before and she’s doing a gay websoap. The Chad/Will one was made because they have "more chemistry together than with the females they have been put with." Hmmm. Not sure I’m interested in that type of storyline though.
March 23, 2011 at 11:10 pm #22044majencoParticipantThe Will thing has been brought up before. I don’t have any problem with it. As for Carly, I just don’s see her suddenly being gay.
March 24, 2011 at 12:30 pm #22052BonbonParticipantOr, at least, openly admitting one is gay. I had a friend years ago that divorced her DH after 18 years of marriage and started "seeing" another woman. They are still together 28 years later. Although I believe you are homosexual from birth, apparently she had been repressing it all those years and finally decided to come out and be herself. She said she really didn’t realize it until she was in her 20s, married and with three kids. She just wasn’t happy with life in general.
I have absolutely nothing against homosexuality nor do I mind having it portrayed on Days but I just don’t want it to involve a character already on. If they want to do a gay storyline, please, please, please, bring in new characters to do so.
When I saw Carly in her net soap as a gay woman, I really didn’t like it because I already knew her as Carly and it just didn’t seem right.
March 24, 2011 at 12:41 pm #22055PattiParticipantbut that’s just my own personal feelings and has nothing to do with how others feel. I have seen a few done in the past, and just do not enjoy watching two people of the same sex making hot and heavy love on daytime television. I am not prejudice, nor do I care if they do it. It just would not be my preference. Sorry if that offends anyone, but it is, after all, JMO. If they do it, it should be with someone new, not people who are already on the show and who we have seen in heterosexual relationships. I just would not buy Carly or Will. Hopefully it won’t be Rafe, but unless his memories return, I could see it being him, which would really upset me, but it wouldn’t be out of the realm of believability.
March 24, 2011 at 1:34 pm #22057bluebonnetParticipantI found this article on the CNN website about this possible storyline. And, by the way, who is Eddie Campbell in the picture?

March 24, 2011 at 2:37 pm #22060BonbonParticipantsince Tamara Braun is coming to Days and she has already played a lesbian, I’m thinking it’ll be her and she’ll try to hit on Carly, Jen, or Chloe. None of this is very appealing to me. (But at least she’d leave EJ alone to continue on with Nicole.)
I’m wondering which is more important to TPTB, being so-called "hip" with a same-sex pairing or making/keeping their viewers happy. I guess we’ll find out.
March 24, 2011 at 4:01 pm #22062justwonderingParticipantI don’t why there is this trend thst every show must have a gay atoryline . I especially don’t like the idea of an established character all of whom have been sexually active suddenly realize they are gay. It just seems very far fetched. After all Carly is Melanie’s mother. Chad had a daughter. Rafe–wow that would really get to Sami!!!
Unless they go with Daniel, after allhe seems to move from girl to girl and is never happy for long with his present conquest. Surfer boy now that would be ironic.
Or maybe Dario?
March 24, 2011 at 6:19 pm #22063kprstrsParticipantIf they do start a gay story line, I will NEVER watch this show again. If someone wants to have that kind of a relationship, they can keep it out of my face. I don’t watch ANY show that portrays this kind of story.
March 24, 2011 at 7:05 pm #22064luckeyParticipantthis season they came on very, very strong with two girls having a relationship and two of the boys. The scenes have been very intense with a lot of sexual interaction and a very heavy kiss between the two boys. I know my opinion is probably very different from the high school age kids nowadays, but it really has turned me off the show. If it becomes a regular scene that I have to watch, I’ll pass on the show.
With regard to "Days", I just don’t think it’s necessary. It could become a big factor in how many viewers stay with the show depending on how they write it.
March 24, 2011 at 7:11 pm #22065luckeyParticipantsee that name listed in that link.
March 24, 2011 at 7:16 pm #22066bluebonnetParticipantWhen I first copied the link, there was a picture of three DOL cast members and a man named Eddie Campbell. When I went back to the link, there was a different picture that went with the article, so the picture that had Eddie in it was gone! This man sort of looked like the actor who plays Nathan, but I know his name isn’t Eddie Campbell, so I’m not sure who this man was. Maybe he was a fan.
March 24, 2011 at 7:55 pm #22067NoraParticipantNot sure how I’d feel about this storyline. To quote seinfeld, "Not that there’s anything wrong with that" I dont think I’d by it from a character on the show already. from someone new like Dario that we have no back story for then maybe.
March 24, 2011 at 7:58 pm #2206953tdogsParticipantthe Day for me too.
March 24, 2011 at 8:50 pm #22076DeeLanParticipantHaving had a brother who was gay my only problem with TV is they do the stereotypical gay/lesbian and cram it down your throat. If it was done tastefully and not in the Will & Grace mold I’d be OK with it.
March 24, 2011 at 11:09 pm #22085GoldenDaysFanParticipantIf that is the direction they want to go, then they can find a fan to replace me. I will not watch any more.
