I have been very pleased with the writing of the tribute for Alice. I loved the flashbacks also. I do think the entire show today should have been about Alice however.
I certainly didn’t need to hear Sami for the thousandeth time say that she was living at the mansion because of her children. I’m not excited about her and Rafe either. He’s supposedly a smart man, why can’t he leave Sami alone. (I know he thinks he loves her?)
That outfit that Stephanie had on was very TACKY, especially for a funeral.
Jennifer is such a beautiful girl and she has such a sweet spirit. I wish she could stay on for a while.
Kim sure is hateful. Time has not been her friend. I like Shane, but I don’t look forward to watching Kim.
I loved the comment about Kate’s jewelry being from Goodwill.

and Kate and Sami being civil to each other was nice.

I was afraid it’d be all flashbacks but it was just the right amount. Forget a three-hankie show, it was a whole bath towel one. The tears started when Lucas took Tom’s picture and looked around the house, as if for the last time. It was as if the door was closing on an era which we’ll never see again. And it just went on from there. Everyone did such a fabulous job. Jen and Hope seemed to be especially affected by losing their Gran.
I didn’t mind the entire show not being devoted strictly to the tribute. I think that would have been too much to bear. This way, it gave us a moment to ‘recuperate’ and dry our eyes.
Good job, everbody, good job! And thank you.

Shane and Rafe on the plane talked about it and about Sami and Kim. Kate was civil to Sami and even asked about the funeral and how Lucas and Will were holding up. For the first time there was no backbiting, arguing (except when Kim ran away from Shane) It was wonderfully done.
June 26, 2010 at 2:09 pm #13995GrockieParticipantis that some people call her Gran and others Gram. ???
June 26, 2010 at 2:39 pm #13997mommytutuParticipantI thought this was a mediocre tribute to a wonderful woman. If it hadn’t been for Jennifer and Hope speaking, I wouldn’t have shed a tear. The two of them made me cry. Nathan speaking at all was lame–we never had a scene w/him and Alice, so why have him speak. I also wish we could have had a bonafide funeral, that was just a scene at the grave site. I wanted more flashbacks, they could have let the whole show be about Alice, but instead I had to deal with the silliness of Sami rushing back because Johnny (or Gianni or Giovanni, whatever his name is) wasn’t feeling well. The conversation w/ Rafe and Shane was good, but they could have done that all yesterday.
I agree that Kim is bitter, and without getting into too much trouble, her acting is a bit off, so I can’t buy into her anger. Her reaction to Shane was stilted and weird!
Stephanie’s outfit–hideous! She looked like winter from the knees down and pregnant in the summer on top. UGLY! However, did anyone notice how she looked more like Melissa’s daughter than Kayla’s. That was a little odd.
On a positive note, Ciera’s tear running down her face pulled at my heart strings.
June 26, 2010 at 3:40 pm #13999BonbonParticipantrunning away like that, for me, was vintage Kim. It really brought back the old memories.
June 26, 2010 at 3:44 pm #14000DeeLanParticipantI also thought it was touching when they were placing the roses on the casket. When it was Caroline’s turn she kissed her rose and mouthed "Good-bye Alice" Don’t know if that was in the script or not but it is something a dear friend would do.
