waking this a.m. knowing we are the AFC North Division Champs …. Again… with a 42-21 victory over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football. Gosh, so many records broken by Lamar Jackson as well as certain members of the team. Our City is rockin’ and there’s still 2 more games to be played before the playoffs. Lamar surely deserves to be MVP, even if no one else believes it; however, they might have a hard time convincing most football fans of that, especially after the Ravens easily handed the Jets another impressive defeat. So I’ll simply say "CONGRATULATIONS TO A SPECTACULAR TEAM WHO SHOWED OUR FANS AN EQUALLY SPECTACULAR SEASON"!!!
December 13, 2019 at 8:09 pm #56680dvalParticipantI have to say if you hadn’t beaten us so handily ast night THEN I would be questioning the MVP!
Congratulations to you and to your future hall of fame QB.
December 13, 2019 at 8:42 pm #56681powerpaw2ParticipantNice to have someone join our trio.
Patti, Lamar definitely has my vote for MVP. He can do it all.
December 13, 2019 at 9:36 pm #56683PattiParticipantpowerpaws 2, casey and I have been holding down the "women who love football fort" for quite some time now. It’s great to find another football sister. Please join our weekly talks from now on. Love that you love the Jets. Each of us has our own favorites, and we speak our minds on their successes and failures, and have a great time discussing our hopes and dreams for our favorite teams. Whether they perform well or horrible, we love them and when they do well they get our praise, but when they do not perform, we are sometimes more critical than the coaches and the media. So, by all means, join us and we’ll follow the Jets like we follow one another’s teams throughout their season, whether it’s good or not so good. They are "our" team, and when they deserve our praise, we love putting them on a pedestal; however, when they are not giving it their best, we may comment in the negative; but, the one thing we do NOT do is throw the baby out with the bathwater. They are still our team. Looking forward to hearing from you whenever you want to jump in.
December 14, 2019 at 2:59 pm #56685caseyParticipantjoin the FB discussion. I know how rocky things are with the Jets but you’ve had a tumultuous ride this year with all the changes. You’ve got a date with my Bills last game – boy I sure hope our playoff hopes don’t turn on that game!
Patti, will the Ravs rest a lot of their starters now? I definitely would!December 14, 2019 at 4:08 pm #56686PattiParticipantthe place where we watched the game with the Jets were literally SCREAMING at the TV when it was determined (I would imagine at Lamar’s request) that Lamar continue into the 4th quarter. I mean, not that the Jets D would ‘intentionally’ try to hurt Lamar with some kind of improper tackle, but why take a chance that ANYTHING could happen that would sideline him, even if it were an accidental move that he, himself, could make, like a twisted ankle or some other move, like one of our own guys falling on him the wrong way just trying to protect him. And believe me, they were all ready, willing and able to do just that…protect him! I have to think that it was just because Lamar Jackson is, simply stated, a very humble kid who wasn’t trying to gain more accolades or records, I’m sure. HE JUST LOVES THE GAME! I mean, it wasn’t like R.G.III isn’t an experienced QB who was in danger of losing a 21-point lead. But, thankfully, Lamar agreed to coming out of the game. Anyway, now all we have to worry about is getting one more win in order to get the home field advantage for the playoffs, which hopefully we will do. Anyway, I am a Catholic who prays a lot, so a little "Divine Intervention" perhaps???? I’d like to think so. Hey, maybe the Pope was watching the game, wearing our jersey after-all!!!! LOLOL!!!!
December 15, 2019 at 12:28 am #56687powerpaw2ParticipantHow many times have we seen another player roll onto someone’s ankle or leg during an innocent play? I don’t want him to get injured as he’s improved overall since last year and he’s so much fun to watch.
December 15, 2019 at 2:10 am #56688dvalParticipantIm not as knowledgeable but very much enjoy the game. The Jets need some stability to set the ship right and Darnold having mono (egads) at the beginning of the season certainly didn’t help us out. But all Jets fan are familiar with the phrase "wait till next year", LOL. I hope come next season I can be in the discussion with a more wining Jets team.
My son went to University of Maryland College Park so I feel I can be an honorary Ravens fan without anyone here giving me too much grief.
December 15, 2019 at 2:13 am #56689dvalParticipanton the moment and what Jets team decides to show up on that date. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Darnold improves a lot between this yeear and next, he seems to show moments of great talent. But I certainly don’t want us to be anyone’s spoiler. But Im not too worried for you!
December 15, 2019 at 3:24 pm #56690caseyParticipantIf the Bills and Ravens meet down the line, I think God may have a bit of conflict for His graces!!
December 15, 2019 at 8:27 pm #56691powerpaw2ParticipantIt’s just nice to meet gals who love football. One of our local radio stations carries a show called "Helmets and Heels" that is hosted by 3 ladies.
I’ve been rooting for Green Bay since Starr was QB. I moved to Jacksonville in 2014 so the Jags are my hometown team.
December 16, 2019 at 3:24 pm #56696caseyParticipantA nail biter but the Bills are in the playoffs! Our D really showed its stuff against what was ranked Number 1 Pittsburgh overall and leading the league in turnovers. And the Bills got 5! So cool to see Josh Allen taking a stadium lap high fiving the many Bills fans with their “terrible red” towels! So nice to be able to relax for a couple weeks. Looks right now like Houston is opponent. I’m just so proud of how the Bills brass turned around a wretched team in short order.
Powerpaw, you even had something to cheer for on the Jags!
And wow, with their loss the 49rs went from 1 seed to 5 seed!December 16, 2019 at 3:41 pm #56698PattiParticipantIt was a nail biter, but an interesting one that kept me on the edge of my seat more than once throughout the game. Josh Allen has convinced me that he has no place to go but up. He’s just what is needed in a QB; a big, strong powerful body with legs to match, and a throwing arm with accuracy that will only get better with each game. They will be a threat for quite some time as this young man becomes more and more of a ‘leader’! Great game!
Also, hats off to the Pack for their win over the Bears, and a nice surprise, Powerpaws, and let’s throw some kudos to the Jags for a win over the Raiders. Looks like we all had a good day yesterday, especiall the Ravens, because we got a well deserved REST!
December 17, 2019 at 2:46 pm #56704dvalParticipantI was thinking of you when I was checking the scores on Sunday!
