September 21, 2010 at 1:50 am #16437NoraParticipantR U watching DWTS BonBon?? I absoutely LOVED Florence Henderson and Jennifer Grey!! LOVED THEM!!!!
September 21, 2010 at 11:36 am #16439BonbonParticipantIt is one of my favorite shows.
I hope Margaret Cho goes first. She was HORRIBLE! So was Michael Bolton. I read that he’s been a real diva and nobody likes him much.
But I was disappointed in the scores they gave The Hoff. I thought he did much better than they said. As Len said of another dancer, it’s also about the entertainment value and he was certainly entertaining. I love the way he can laugh at himself.
And as widely predicted, it looks like Jennifer is going to be the front runner, and maybe Brandy too. Florence did much better than I expected. At least she brought some dignity to the show and wasn’t a buffoon like Cloris Leachman was. And she’s 76! Holy cow!
But one thing I was VERY disappointed in was the music. I thought the selections were awful. There wasn’t one single song that I enjoyed. I don’t want to see someone doing the Vienese Waltz to some obscure boy band song. Same with the passo roble. They always want to have them do it to a popular song where I think it should stay traditional and be in the Flamenco vein. Oh, well, I’m only one person.
September 21, 2010 at 12:12 pm #16440caseyParticipantDespite her claims of being 50 and away from dancing. She had early training and that never really goes away. I do agree the judges were a bit harsh on Hoff and I thought his scores should have been a shade higher.
I missed Bristol – how did she do?September 21, 2010 at 1:05 pm #16445luckeyParticipantreally drawn to any one star. Having said that, I was absolutely loving Kyle Massey with Lacy! I have no idea who he is or what he’s famous for, but his performance last night was great! I liked the first star from "The Hills" (can’t remember her name), Jennifer and Florence. I agree with others that the Hoff was graded much harder than the others. Bristol looked totally shell-shocked, but got through it pretty well. I sort of figured that there was something else under her conservative suit when they introduced the performers. Rick Fox and Cheryl are very mismatched due to their difference in height (JMHO). I wonder how they pick the partners. I think Margaret Cho and Michael Bolton have to go. It looked like Margaret was trying to cover her inability with humor and I think she should let herself go and give it her best shot. She may be surprised at how well she does. Her partner, Louie, can’t be very happy about her wanting to be silly during the performance because he’s always been so serious with his partners. Michael looked and sounded like he did not want to be there, which makes me wonder why he even signed up in the first place. I heard the same that Bonbon did that he’s the one most difficult to get along with and has had the most personal requests. And then there’s "The Situation". His attitude has to go! I know it’s part of his celebrity persona, but I loved how Len didn’t let him get away with it. When he said, "You’ve got the guns, but you don’t have the ammunition" I applauded Len! Then Bruno even alluded to that fact that if he kept the attitude, he won’t make it. Even Carrie Ann told him his 80’s dancing is outdated. So, it should be interesting to see who goes home tonight.
September 21, 2010 at 1:11 pm #16446PattiParticipantand thought everyone did a fairly good to great job for their first performance, except for Margaret Cho, who started out okay but I had to agree with the judges that there is no place for comedy in the Viennese Waltz. Len was throwing some zingers last night. He can be just as funny as he is harsh at times, and I loved his response to "The Situation" (Uggggh). This guy seems to be more full of hisself than any of the stars and Len quickly shut him down with: "And you’ve got the guns but not the ammunition." I don’t expect Bristol Palin to go too far, but it was nice to see her come out from behind her mother’s shadow. I hope she improves, but she just doesn’t seem to have the nerve to do the moves required to make you shine on this show. I’ll be watching to see if she improves. Absolutely love Brandy and hope she goes all the way to the top, which I predict she will. She’s got the whole package, IMO, not to mention my year-to-year hottie, Maks, on her arm. Go Brandy!
September 21, 2010 at 2:16 pm #16449NoraParticipantI agree, the hoff wasnt very good but he was entertaining! unlike michael bolton, who i think should go before David, they both stunk, but david was more entertaining. Palin girl was awful, i think she should go and let the situation stay, she had more practice time and she wasnt any better than he was.
September 21, 2010 at 4:45 pm #16450maxineParticipantMy fav are Jennifer and Brandy I thought they both did great.
