"The people who matter won’t judget you?!?" Why not Daniel? B/c she’s a Horton? B/c he’s big bad EJ Dimera?!? I’m sorry – you accused Austin of that BS and now you bed an engaged man. You’re a whore Abby – you should be judged!!! There was no emotion behind your indiscretion with EJ – it was all lust. Not to mention you befriended Sami and spent time with her kids.
So when I hear someone tell Abby she isn’t being judged I have to ask…. why?!? All that does is make me root harder for Sami (which I do already anyway.)
August 23, 2014 at 6:31 am #45053BonbonParticipantAbby did not befriend Sami and her family. Sami finagled that “relationship” much to Abby’s discomfort at each and every turn.
And what’s wrong with lust as a motive? It certainly wasn’t “love.” Of course it was lust. Isn’t that what instigates most affairs?
I’m not saying Abby was blameless by any means but, when push comes to shove, anybody that knows the both of them is obviously going to blame EJ for seducing the young and innocent Abigail.
August 23, 2014 at 2:16 pm #45061TFlo1018ParticipantHehe…. I think Sami EVENTUALLY orchestrated that "friendship" but Abby certainly could have said no. She didn’t b/c she felt guilty b/c she knew what she did (was doing) was wrong.
But when i talk about lust as a motive it makes it more inexcusable b/c it is NOT love. Case in point – when Marlena bedded John behind Roman’s back it was LOVE!!! Marlena LOVED John especially b/c she thought he was Roman. You almost felt for Marlena – and could argue that what she did was UNDERSTANDABLE! Wrong – but you were able to see it how she saw it. She loved two men at once.
Abby’s motive was pure lust – you cannot justify lust. I mean you can’t justify cheating as a whole – but at least with Doc’s situation you can sorta wrap your head round it.
August 23, 2014 at 2:23 pm #45062justwonderingParticipantOk, so according to you Abby instigated the affair? EJ went to the Horton cabin to "convince" Abigail not to talk to HOpe.
Did it happen again, yes. Several times. I don’t remember Ej saying, "no,no Abigal, I am engaged, this is wrong". THat shower scene was BOTH of them.
You feel that Abigail pursued EJ. However, it is EJ who continue to seek her out, to tell her she is a beautiful, that she did nothing wrong, etc. Even now, he continues to inquire how she is, so I would say he is vested in her. Went he went to see Will, he was very critical of will naming Abigail!
Finally, it is a logical conclusion that most people would blame the worldy, sophisticated EJ instead of the much younger, inexperienced Abigail. Like it or not, that makes the most sense.
August 23, 2014 at 2:38 pm #45063TFlo1018ParticipantWhere in my post did I say Abby pursued EJ?!? Let’s not mince words here…
What I DID say was that Abby is a whore and she should be judged for BEDDING an engaged man. This is a pattern for her – and she continues to get a pass for it. Why?!? Why does she get a pass?
EJ is/was wrong – 100%!!! But my point of the post was about Abby…. Why shouldn’t she be judged? If this was ANYONE else they would have been looked down on, talked about and ridiculed. She accused Austin of something that did NOT exist… She bedded an engaged man – and yes, she did go after him at some point.
I’m not saying EJ is inncocent here – but when you think about the "free pass" sweet little Abby is getting all it does it help me to justify Sami’s rage. If the town treated Abby the way anyone else would be treated if they did what she did then I can see us saying "Sami’s over reacting."
August 24, 2014 at 12:31 am #45066loritrollParticipantTFlo – I totally agree with everything you’re saying. It’s driving me absolutely CRAZY every time she gets a free pass. She DID pursue him. I’m absolutely not letting EJ off the hook here, but she was equally to blame and no one seems to want to hold her accountable for the terrible, terrible, destructive decisions she made. I wouldn’t have as much of a problem with her, probably, if she was actually being held accountable by the people around her. But, this "O Woe is Abigal" thing isn’t giving me any reason to want to feel sorry for her.
August 24, 2014 at 1:21 am #45067bradysgmaParticipantI think that the free pass and not being judged is about family and close friends. It hadn’t gotten out in public until the story that Will wrote. By the way, the way Will described EJ’s par amour, it would have been easy for many to figure out who that was.
August 24, 2014 at 2:29 am #45070justwonderingParticipantYou said that Abigail "bedded an engaged man". That statement led me to believe that you meant that she pursued him. That is because last time I checked it takes two to stray!! So the great and powerful EJ just couldn’t resist her charms – give me a break. So if Abigail is a "whore", what is EJ— a cad?
Yes she has a pattern, she is attracted to older, unavailable men. Some might say that she is looking for someone to replace her father. It has been an emotional year for Abigail and her entire family. That might also help her get some sympathy from family and friends. As for Salemites in general, I am sure that they will be talking about her, much like the reporters who are not giving her a "free Pass".
I don’t expect you to agree with me, but I am explaining what conclusion I think most people would reach. Like it or not, EJ has a bit of a reputation, after all he married Sami in 2007, then Nicole in 2009, then went back to Sami. then Nicole, then falls for Taylor before reuniting with Sami. So most people would think he is a womanizer and give Abigail the benefit of the doubt.
August 24, 2014 at 3:15 am #45071dvalParticipantYou think that the phrase “bedded an engaged man” means she pursued him? All it means is what it says…she went to bed with an engaged man. This is a fact, not a supposition. And Yes, EJ is a cad, and Abigail, well maybe not exactly a whore but she certainly is on the prey for otherwise entangled older men. Sex kitten, maybe would be a better phrase? Any way you look at it she certainly does not deserve the free ride she is getting from almost everyone in Salem, her mother included. I still have yet to hear Mommy dearest Jen have any kind of discussion about the wrong Abby did in this. Nope, just “I love and respect my daughter no matter how many married/engaged men she tries to get away from their significant other”, well, or words to that effect. And as for EJ still pursuing Abigail, well hello, she jumped to the immediate conclusion that he still “wanted” her when he came to see her after the wedding arrest debacle. Neither one is blameless in this little escapade but it seems everyone wants Abby to be the put-upon little girl who couldn’t be expected to know how to say No to big bad wolf EJ when the truth is completely the opposite. She wanted him as much as he wanted her, End of story. She is no saint and neither is he but she expects to be treated like someone who just, I don’t know, burned her finger in the fireplace because she is too young to know better than to play with fire? No free pass from me no matter how many times she tells her mother she knows she was wrong. Tough, you played now you got pay as the saying goes.
August 24, 2014 at 6:09 am #45073BonbonParticipantthe writers have done their jobs here because they have everybody taking up different sides. How boring would it be if everybody agreed that Abby was the innocent little girl who fell prey to the big bad wolf? Heck, this whole thread would be blank! :o)
August 24, 2014 at 2:44 pm #45077TFlo1018ParticipantTotes agree
And yes – the last time I checked "bedded" means SLEPT with – NOT pursued!!!
Yes – E.J. is a cad and YES – he has a pattern…. SAMI!!! All the women you listed have one thing in common – he always goes back to Sami!!! It’s always been Sami – it always will be Sami. Is their relatiionship destructive? Sure!!! But at least they didn’t "fall in love" bumping into each other Horton Town Square!!! Sorry – I rather watch and witness their i love you/i hate you/i love you any day over "oops – I didn’t see where I was going and now i love you" story that we have gotten with so many other Salem "couples."
So yes to summarize…. EJ is a cad… Abby is a WHORE (I do like Sex Kitten btw – but she’s like a lil whore in the making hah) – and she does NOT deserve a pass. And that daddy card – GMAB!!! She’s not lusting after these men b/c she’s missing Jack – she’s lusting after them b/c…. well, she’s a whore
August 24, 2014 at 7:52 pm #45078PattiParticipantI don’t think anyone is looking for an argument amongst ourselves here; it’s just we all like who we like, and we can’t help that. Some take it as argumentative; I take it as they have their POV and I have mine.
August 24, 2014 at 8:00 pm #45076PattiParticipantwhen it came to stalking E.J., so let’s share the blame here! She could have just as easily stopped it in its tracks the first time, but instead she chose to make the first move on him and actually started undressing him first; she stopped him from leaving afterward, even though he did try (who’s going to walk away after that fine young offer of tail); she followed him to the club’s shower, partially undressed, and walked in on him; who’s idea was that one? She followed him to the office, lied to the secretary to get herself in, and propositioned him again, this time actually offering to be his mistress while concealing their affair from Sami, and tried go get him to have sex with her, where he had to embarrass her to get her away from him; and the prize winning one regarding fault is split right down the middle when they attempted to go at it again in the hospital supply closet, when proper ‘Miss Perfect’ Abbey committed what I would call emotional rape, because she actually said to E.J., “you know what you have to do to shut me up.” And it would have happened again, but they were interrupted. So tell me again how Abigail is so not, at least half of, the aggressor here!!! Actually, the one I need here to stop pacifying Abigail and trying to convince her that she is not to blame for any of their affair is E.J.
August 24, 2014 at 8:20 pm #45079caseyParticipantOn top of what you lay out here Patti, another problem I have with Miss “taken advantage of” is her verbal exchanges with EJ. She is hardly some put upon naive girl, but rather has shown herself to be bold and assertive and not backing down from her behavior in the cabin to afterwards in confronting the big bad intimidating EJ Dimera.
All of Salem just seems to assume EJ held her in some kind of emotional bondage.
I say Abs and EJ are equally to blame. All these opinions make for great reading and discussion.August 24, 2014 at 8:47 pm #45080TFlo1018ParticipantLOL and Patti – you said "tail." HAD ME ROLLING!!! HA HA HA
