Okay people, there have been lots of complaints about us not discussing the plot lately. I think that’s the result of some crappy writing. How about a comparative trip down memory lane? Please answer the following questions…
1. Who is your all time favorite character and who is your current favorite?
2. All time favorite couple and current favorite?
3. All time favorite villain and currant favorite?
4. All time favorite storyline and current?
5. Least favorite storyline and current?

1. Who is your all time favorite character and who is your current favorite? Sami and Sami. I started watching around the time Carly was buried alive but Sami hooked me on the show. I was a teen when she started and I really related to the whole teen scene her, Jamie, Lucas, Austin and Carrie brought to the show. I love how Sami has developed (and not developed) into an adult and that while she’s not a vixen/villainess anymore she’s still got a lot of bad in her and they kept her character true to her core without writing her into a corner.
2. All time favorite couple and current favorite? All time? Bo and Hope – enough said!!! Current? Sami and E.J. I have been rooting for them for the longest!!!
3. All time favorite villain and currant favorite? All time favorite would probably be Stefano but that’s more b/c of the arc’s and stories his character has brought to the show and how WITHOUT him a lot of these characters wouldn’t be who they are NOW without his interference in their lives. There’s no one else on the show who has touched everyone in Salem as he has and has had a direct effect on who they are. Love him or hate him you gotta list him as the favorite of all time. Current? Do we really have any right now that are worth of the term villian? Sami is still bad (see above) and Kate is sorta like a cartoon… I don’t know that I have any current favorites b/c I’m not sure we have any right now. No one is wrecking havoc on the town since Kristen left.
4. All time favorite storyline and current? Current favorite is the situation with Nick but ONLY because it puts Sami and Kate on the same team and it’s hysterical. All time favorite storyline? Hmm…. It’s a 4 way tie for me so I can’t choose…. (a) Marlena possessed – I know a lot of you hate it BUT it roped a lot of storylines in together AND it did wonders for the ratings at a time when the show DESPERATELY needed the boost (b) Is Gina Hope? Kristian was amazing in that storyline and it lasted long BUT kept it interesting (c) Sami’s reign of terror on Carrie… Ali was superb as the bad teen turned adult. All those years of Wills paternity, seducing Austin (well raping Austin), torturing Carrie. EPIC!!! and (d) Carly buried Alive. Unique (for its time) and was amazingly done. As you can all tell I prefer JER’s writing and tenure over anyone elses thus far.
5. Least favorite storyline and current? That awful garden storyline with Austin and Greta. TERRIBLE!!! Current least favorite? Hmm… As great of a job as Greg and Ari are doing with it I am not at all interested in this Priest storyline. I like Eric as a Priest and Greg’s portrayl of him is captivating but lets wrap it up already.
6. Funniest character? Oh Vivian by far – she was evil and funny all at the same time. I prefer that type of funny over the old school Eugene/Caliople funny.
7. Favorite set? Favorite set of all time had to be Brady’s fish market. MAINLY b/c it brings back memories of me being little and watching it with my Mom.
I totally agree with you about Stefano and the Marlena possession storyline! I loved the campiness of it. Stefano always makes the story more interesting even if it’s less believable.

2) all-time fav couple: John and Marlena current fav: few choices here with these musical chairs couples but Vic and Mag
3) all-time fav villain: Stef current fav: none
4) all-time fav SL: Marlena possession current fav: tough decision in weak category but Fr Eric
5) all-time least fav SL: tie btween alien twins and Garden of Eden current least fav: another tossup with so many choices: Ann out to destroy Jenn (if you can call that a storyline)
6) funniest character: Viv

1. Who is your all time favorite character and who is your current favorite?
My current favorite is Sonny, he’s fun cute and caring. My all time favorite used to be Jennifer. I started watching when she was in high school dating Frankie and I related to her character and thought she was absolutely beautiful (that’s not the part I related to!). In her latest incarnation her once smart and vibrant character has been reduced to a wimpy whiner who refuses to discipline her son or wear weather appropriate attire.
2. All time favorite couple and current favorite?
All time favorite couple for me is Patch and Kayla. Best story ever. So in love. So many adventures. Of course they have ruined this couple. As if Steve and Kayla would ever break up over Steve being himself! Bah!
Current favorite…Will and Sonny. The most fleshed out fully realized couple on this show in recent history. We’ll see how long it lasts.
3. All time favorite villain and currant favorite?
Stefano for both. Gotta be. He has messed with pretty much everyone and keeps Salem mysteries humming along. I will give Ernesto Tuscano an honorable mention.
4. All time favorite storyline and current?
My favorite storyline was when Kayla lost her voice. The whole story with Benji. When she started speaking at her wedding I lost it. I also loved the Marlena posession storyline. I found it funny and still interesting. Zack’s death was one of the most heartbreaking stories I can remember on a soap since Megan died on One Life To Live. Currently most storylines leave me bored. I kind of want to see what happens with Rafe and Jordan. I know Nick isn’t dead so I guess those two are ok. I am moderately interested in Brady’s drug addiction for now. I’m at least glad they didn’t just cure him instantly.
5. Least favorite storyline and current?
Hands down worst of all time the Gemini twins! Awful!
Current least favorite…anything with Jennifer! So sad to hate her now.
6. Funniest character?
Calliope (Sp)? Loved her funky style.
Currently….Victor, best one liners ever!
7. Favorite set?
I loved the loft that pretty much everyone lived in at one time or another. I also loved Bo and Hope’s house.
Current favorite set…there are so few. I guess the Brady Pub out of pure nostalgia.
what you bring up really starkly contrasts with how pathetic the current Days SLs have become. The older plots had so much more staying power with more heart and depth and investment. So much is just fluff and dummness and no progression. The only couple I care about succeeding is Sonny and Will. I find the entertainment value on Days severely lacking.
