Just wondering if you think the judges this year are being more snarky than in past years. Sometimes they just act plain mean, esp. when they really put down the contestants by laughing at them – it just seems harsher than in the past. It also drives me crazy that Michaels Kors wears nothing but a black t-shirt and coat. I really enjoy the show but it seems putting it to a hour and half has left a lot of room for comments from the judges I’d rather not hear. They’re also seems to be lots of tension between the contestants themselves. I can’t even come up with a clear winner in my mind yet and they are down to the final contestants. Seems like before several would really stand out.

These contestants are such talents and their fashion creations in just a single day – especially those made from some of the most outlandish materials – are mind-blowing. And of course, the social/competitive dynamic among these characters fascinating to watch.
The judges do seem to have gotten a bit carried away with comments this season.
As for the winner, I agree, from week to week no one person has broken from the pack. It will make fashion week all the more interesting.October 16, 2010 at 12:12 pm #17036BonbonParticipantAfter the last episode I’m convinced it’s going to be Mondo. My thoughts before was that it would be between he and Andy but now I’m pretty sure it’ll be him. Everybody named him first as the one they thought should go to Fashion Week with them and the judges all seem to like him.
I was really surprised that Gretchin didn’t go (which I was really hoping for as I think she’s lost it). Although it WAS time for April to depart. I wasn’t aware that all her creations have been in black. Not too smart.
This is my first year watching so I don’t know what Fashion Week involves but I’m looking forward to it. I just drool when they go into Mood. OMG, how I’d love to have a store like that near me. I’d have a houseful of fabric.
October 16, 2010 at 12:54 pm #17038caseyParticipantHe’s a trailblazer, fashion-quirky but fun and I love to see what he comes up with. I liked Gretchen’s early outfits but she went downhill lately. How she came up with that last oh so ordinary and boring separates I cannot fathom. Still, she might come up with a good collection, as no doubt she is talented. Andy would be my second choice. I think it could be between Gretchen and Michael as to who doesn’t make the final three.
October 16, 2010 at 4:10 pm #17049annieoParticipantI like Mondo as well. He sure has had a lot of angst in his life! I was ready for Gretchen to leave weeks ago – it always seemed like she was poking her nose in and giving her suggestions to the other designers instead of focusing on her own stuff. As for April, she never seemed to smile – Heidi even commented about it. It was like she was terrified or just a gloomy person – hence the black clothes perhaps? It’s been interesting following Michael C. because the first contestants really despised him – especially Ivy! I thought many of his designs were very lovely but was actually surprised the judges just "loved, loved, loved" his last dress. I thought it was lovely, but thought they’d come down on it hard as "taking the easy way out." I often think because we really can’t see the stitching up close, it’s sometimes hard to judge and sometimes when things on screen look good, they must not close up. I also thought Christian Siriano as a judge was interesting because being on the receiving end of the judges’ comments as an earlier contestant he also gave at least one positive comments to most of the garments even though he really didn’t like them. I think he was feeling their pain.
October 16, 2010 at 5:51 pm #17057BonbonParticipantshe accused Michael C. of cheating. That was dispicable and the way she talked to him, I thought, was really cruel. I lost any respect I’d had for her.
And I’m glad everybody (well, most everybody, I don’t think Gretchen likes him at all) turned around on their feelings for Michael C. I couldn’t understand why they didn’t like him. It’s kind of like Survivor, many times we don’t really know what’s going on when the camera isn’t rolling. The producers edit everything to make it look the way THEY want it and not always the way it really is.
October 22, 2010 at 12:47 pm #17279caseyParticipantThis was the most disappointed I’ve been w/ the fashions on PR. Gretchen for me, was dullsville – both style, fabric and colors – looked like something out of the plains depression days!
I hope Mondo wins.October 22, 2010 at 7:00 pm #17290BonbonParticipantDon’t you think he was rather overly dramatic when he was sent home? Good grief, you’d think his mother, father, best friend, and dog had all died.
I think Mondo pretty much has it in the bag. He’s the only one who has consistently gotten good remarks from the judges. I don’t think he’s ever been in the bottom three, has he? And I don’t want Gretchen to win just because I don’t like her. I’d be okay with Andy though but really think Mondo should win.
October 22, 2010 at 10:46 pm #17299annieoParticipantI just spent 5 minutes typing a reply and my screen erased it – it must have timed itself out! I felt bad for Michael C. but he did really go over the top with the sobbing. I hope Gretchen doesn’t win either – that underwear she showed Tim was really awful. I’m not sure I liked any of the clothing as well as it past seasons. Maybe when they’re on the actual runway they’ll look better. I thought the dress Mondo made with the large "bubbles" was pretty crazy. One would have to be pencil thin to wear it. – no bulges – leaves me out! Again, I think the judges were pretty cruel. Some of Michael Kors’ designs to me are butt ugly but he’s still pretty judgemental. Can’t wait to see next week’s show!
October 24, 2010 at 3:49 pm #17319caseyParticipantof Gretchen’s was fashionable? I wouldn’t be caught dead with that awful thing on!
As for Mike C. I can only guess his parents were really resistent to both their son’s orientation and direction. For him to be that terrified of having to tell them he didn’t make fashion week – I mean, come on, getting Final Four of PR – pretty impressive! -
