It looked like Ian poured a lot of whatever (cocaine?) in Brady’s health drink.  Most drugs have a very bitter taste to them, so you would think Brady would taste something funny if it’s something he has been drinking on a regular basis.

This is Days and the writers are not a very logical group of people. If its cocaine, wouldn’t it also have a somewhat numbing effect? I’ve never used it mind you, but don’t the police always put it on their tongue to test for cocaine on the TV shows?

I’ve never tried it either but I believe they taste it because it has somewhat of a sweet and distinctive taste.  Same with heroin.

But, it was stupid anyway.  Of course he’d taste something in his drink.  Ian’s obviously not trying to kill Brady but just have him make a fool of himself.  I don’t know what he intends to accomplish with that.  I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I don’t know how many times I tried putting their medicine in juice or milk, and they still could taste it and wouldn’t drink it.  Same with the elderly.  I take care of my elderly aunt, who is 88, and on her last visit to her doctor in April she had a slight bladder infection.  Although the medicine smelled like cherries, she would fight it every time she had to drink it, no matter what I put it in to disguise the taste.  So, no, this is completely unbelievable that Brady would not have realized that his drink had a different taste and put 2 and 2 together.  Oh, well, it’s like mommytutu said, we are over-thinking the illogical minds of the writers.

I’m not sure if that’s the reason cops put it on their tongue but I do know cocaine is a topical anesthetic.  We use to use it in liquid form when we before we did bronchoscopies to numb the nose and throat.  It was a green liquid in a little tiny brown glass bottle about 1 inch high and 1/2 inch in diameter.  I remember it required 2 people to dispose of the excess, one to dump it down the sink and the other to watch, then they both had to document that it was done.
