Boy, things are really tightening up now. Still loving Hines Ward, but everybody was exceptional last night, IMO. I did have to agree with Carrie Ann though. Last night Hines did not look as confident as he has been looking from week to week. Maybe because it’s coming down to the wire now. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but there was something lacking in his performance last night. I felt so sorry for Karina when she fell, but to tell you the truth, as soon as I saw Ralph’s coat, I immediately thought to myself, ‘now, this is an accident waiting to happen.’ Kirsty and Maks were terrific, but I’m seeing her regress in the way she acts with Maks. It’s like she’s trying to be shy and coy, two things which she is NOT. Sorry, just can’t grab onto Kendra. The woman and her fake boobs are really a detraction from the rest of the cast, and she should go. Please give Louie a better partner next year. I just love this guy. Romeo just keeps getting better and better, and he could be a dark horse here if the others don’t pay closer attention to his improvement, as well as his popularity. Chris Jericho is a little too full of himself for me, but I can’t help but like him. He still appears to be a little stiff in his dancing, but I do like him a lot. Just love Mark and Casey, but this girl can’t catch break from these judges. Nasty turn of Mark’s ankle. I didn’t even notice it until they showed it back in slow motion. OUCH! That looked like it could have been much, much worse. Long results show tonight. Pia Toscono, who is now dating Mark Ballas, will be on the results show tonight. Sorry, but have to hope Kendra finally gets the axe tonight.
April 26, 2011 at 2:02 pm #23153BonbonParticipantI hope she goes. I just plain don’t like her. But after that, boy, it’s anyone’s guess. I thought they were all very good last night.
As to Ralph’s coat, I’ve often wondered how they avoid disasters with so many of those costumes. It seems like many of them really are an accident waiting to happen. I was pretty surprised at Katrina’s comments though about she didn’t know where she was. Certainly in her career she’s had many of those kinds of falls. I think she was just trying to build Ralph up. But, you’ve got to hand to him anyway, he kept his cool and didn’t let it affect him.
I think Chelsea (not Casey, Patti) is probably the best technical dancer of the bunch but I give Mark credit for that. I think he’s certainly one of the best teachers of the pros, although Chelsea (Romeo’s pro, not Mark’s partner) is certainly doing a good job this year too. Either that or Romeo is just a natural born dancer.
Pretty much agree with you on all your other assessments. I wouldn’t want to put any money on who’s going home tonight, it could be almost anybody. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kirstie and Maks go, in spite of their good scores last night. She doesn’t seem to have too much of a fan base and I don’t think Maks can carry her much longer.
I am so disappointed with the musical selections on this show. I don’t see where any of those songs, with the exception of Walking On Sunshine, would be called a "guilty pleasure." And again, they selected a 4/4 time song for a 3/4 time waltz. What in the heck were they thinking? That’s got to be terribly difficult to do. And again, terrible song for the paso…TERRIBLE! At least the musicians and singers are exceptional. Those singers do a fabulous job of sounding like the original artist. They are very talented.
April 26, 2011 at 2:21 pm #23156MKParticipantI only saw two dances last night, Kendra’s and Ralph’s. I’m looking forward to seeing the rest tonight. I also hope Kendra is gone tonight. Everything about her is so fake, from her boobs to her laugh. Her smile is so forced, it looks almost as if she’s constipated. I love Ralph. He is doing well and he just seems like a great guy. Too bad about Karina’s fall but I don’t think it will affect the votes.
I also saw the video "package" (and quite a package it was if you know what I mean) of Bruno in Elton John’s music video years ago. I think they even blurred part of his red speedo in that picture of him. I thought that was very funny. I could have sworn, and I’ll have to watch it a few times since I recorded it, that after they showed clips of that video, that Bruno said to Tom something about his package. I could be wrong. Maybe it’s because I kept thinking of the word package! I’ll have to check it out again tonight.
I read that Chris Jericho danced a tango to a Journey song? There are so many beautiful tango songs. As I’ve ranted before, they need to play songs that fit the flavor of the dance. In my opinion, it can totally affect how the dance is portrayed and received by the audience. It’s not just the steps involved in dancing, it’s also the feeling you get from it and if the music doesn’t fit the dance, the dance doesn’t fully work even if it was performed flawlessly. For me, anyway.
April 26, 2011 at 3:00 pm #23158PattiParticipantto that poor girl? Guess she just looks like a "Casey" to me. I think you’re right about Kirsty, too. She does look good for 60, but I don’t think her and Maks will make it too much further. I notice he’s not ‘dipping’ her or trying any fancy lifts, too; more like last night’s ending with her just sitting on his knee. He’s as braun as they come, but Kirsty seems to be too much for even Maks to handle lifting or dipping her.
April 26, 2011 at 7:04 pm #23162BonbonParticipantThose are my sentiments exactly. I think it not only affects the way the audience sees it but also the judges, maybe subliminaly, but nevertheless, the right music sets the mood.
I love the choreography, the costumes, the hair, make-up, and everything else about the show but the music selections seriously needs improvement.
April 27, 2011 at 12:13 am #23159luckeyParticipantThe others that did weren’t any better than his performance. Kirstie may be the one to go tonight; although, I’d rather see Kendra leave. I think Kendra may have a stronger fan base that may keep her on. I, too, wondered about those long tails on Ralph’s coat being a problem somewhere along the line. I watched their mishap a couple of times having recorded the show last night and it looked to me like Karina really was confused and unsure of where they were in the dance. Ralph did save the day. If you watch it again knowing what to look for, I think you’ll see she really was out of sink getting back to business. I’m not a Chelsea fan; although, she does have a talent for dancing. Last night’s was good; but, I wouldn’t have scored her that high. Romeo is getting better every week and did well last night too; but, I didn’t see any 10’s in anyone’s performance. The wrestler, Chris, has a knack for dancing; but, has a huge ego that takes a bit away from my liking him. So, I hope Kendra goes home tonight.
When I watched the show again, the response from Bruno to Tom after seeing that tape of him sounded and looked like he said, "You bitch", while laughing. He really seemed somewhat embarassed; but, his outlandish personality covered it to some degree. Watching it a couple of times gives you the chance to really see his reaction and hear what he said. That’s what it looked like and sounded like to me.
