Here I was thinking that since the show was on for only one hour last night, that there would be very limited commercial breaks. Boy was I wrong. I didn’t know that they would continue the dancing tonight at 8:00. They did two dances last night in a half hour. That’s ridiculous. Two or so minute dances with scores and it takes half an hour. It’s probably always that way but I guess I was more aware of it last night.
Kirstie scored better than Kelly. I was glad that Kelly didn’t do that well since I don’t like her at all. I loved that Emmitt picked "Copacabana"! I love that song and it was surprising for him to pick. I thought the team dance was awesome. They almost got a perfect score. I was surpised Carrie Ann didn’t give a 10.
Will they have an elimination tonight? I don’t see how as there are still couples that have to dance tonight as well as the other team dance. Maybe they’ll have a show tomorrow as well?
October 23, 2012 at 3:48 pm #36079luckeyParticipantregarding how are they going to do an elimination tonight.
That team dance is going to be hard to beat. It looked like Carrie Ann was a bit embarassed that she was the only one that didn’t give a score of 10. She also took a pretty intense tumble off of her chair during the show! I thought she really smacked her head, but she seemed to be okay.
I did notice that Kelly was not as sober-faced this week as she was last week. I don’t know if she watched herself on a replay and saw how depressed she looked or if someone told her to lighten up.
Maks hit the nail on the head when he told Kirstie that there isn’t anyone else around them that isn’t a great dancer now that Bristol is gone. She did better last night, but I still think she’s the one on the bubble to go.
October 23, 2012 at 4:40 pm #36083BonbonParticipantthat you have to vote two nights this week. I don’t know if that means they will tally all the votes by the end of the show tonight or what. I guess we’ll have to see.
I don’t think Gilles’ team has a chance in hell of beating the other one (Shawn’s?). He made some poor choices for his team. But maybe if they do something slow and really concentrate on technique rather than tricks and athleticism they might have a chance. I hope so.
I thought Melissa took an awful chance by having them numb her neck just so she could dance. A herniated disk in the neck is nothing to fool around with. I can’t believe the doctors would let her dance, especially with all the neck gyrations she did and the human jump rope. It makes me wonder if her injury was as serious as they made it out to be. Sometimes these reality shows make me wonder…
October 23, 2012 at 5:35 pm #36086MKParticipantI just don’t get why these people think winning a mirror ball trophy (or any prize for that matter) is worth more than their health. Is it really worth the risk of potentially harming yourself even further? Or permanently? Just doesn’t make any sense to me. Melissa is a new mother and is it worth continuing with such a serious injury? Unless, like you say, bonbon, that it was not as serious as they made it out to be.
And I guess I just don’t understand why they have to incorporate all these risky moves and acrobatics. It isn’t really dancing anyway and I don’t think I would do them for the sake of a winning a dance contest.
October 23, 2012 at 5:39 pm #36087MKParticipantI also thought that Carrie Ann’s head hit the floor hard but when I watched the replay, her hand was holding onto the podium as she fell, thus breaking the fall somewhat.
And who knows if Kirstie will go home this week. I kept saying that about Bristol every week and she stayed until last week. It’s really hard to predict.
October 23, 2012 at 6:42 pm #36092BonbonParticipanttook that fall very graciously. That had to be extremely embarassing but I thought she handled it well by laughing at hersel like she didf. And it was funny how, when Gilles ran to her rescue (what a guy!!!), Bruno feigned a dramatic fall on top of the desk. At least Gilles gave him a kiss. :o)
I sure hope Gilles wins. He is such a nice person (at least what we see of him as opposed to what we’ve seen from some of the other "stars") and certainly puts emotions into his dances. I like Pita too but what in the heck did she do to her hair. OMG!
If Kristie doesn’t go home tonight, this show is definitely fixed. I was kind of surprised at her answer to Maks when he said everybody that was left were good dancers and she said, "But they are not entertainers." Very telling. You do have to hand it to her though, for a 60+ year old woman, and for her size (a 4? yeah, sure!) she has done pretty well. But, like we said about Bristol, it’s about dancing ability, not popularity.
October 23, 2012 at 7:49 pm #36095PattiParticipantthan Kelly. I’m not saying I like Kelly Monoco, although I love her on General Hospital; but, she’s certainly a better dancer than Kirstie.
October 24, 2012 at 8:22 am #36097BonbonParticipantwhile I was watching the show that they said there would be no elimination last night which is why they had the double elimination two weeks ago. It was a good show last night and I think everybody is doing amazingly well.
I didn’t think Gilles’ team could top Shawn’s but I laughed my head off at them. They weren’t technically as good but I thought the entertainment factor was way off the chart. That was hilarious and I was smiling throughout the whole thing. And when Gilles and Pita ended up in towels I almost jumped up off the couch. I wonder who choreographed it…Maks probably.
October 24, 2012 at 12:58 pm #36098goodolddaysParticipantI thought the Titanic dance with Derek and Shawn was beautiful and breathtaking. Loved the imagery from the movie and the ending was really creative!
October 24, 2012 at 2:09 pm #36101BonbonParticipantthat actually brought a tear to my eye at the end. Very well done. Man, there are certainly some very talented dancers this time. It’s kind of like Celebrity Apprentice, now that they’ve done shows with "celebrities," I don’t want to watch the regulars anymore. But, with DWTS, they have to have regulars before they can get Allstars.
October 24, 2012 at 2:12 pm #36102MKParticipantI didn’t like Gilles’ team dance. It was not a good team dance. Everybody was all over the place doing their own thing. And I’m no prude and I love off-color humor, but I think it bordered on vulgar when Gilles opened up Pita’s legs and looked at her crotch twice. Derek’s team was much better technically and I enjoyed it much better.
I haven’t been enjoying Gilles’ attitude much this year and I’ve always loved him. He is a fantastic dancer but I think his ego has become very much inflated. I thought Shawn and Derek’s Titanic dance was beautiful and emotional and I’m not a big fan of the Rumba. The ending gave me goose bumps.
I’m soooo happy Sabrina is in first place!!
October 24, 2012 at 4:24 pm #36105BonbonParticipantIn fact, I though he’s been rather humble. Just goes to show ya, I guess…different strokes. I suppose that’s what fame does to people. But then I didn’t see the egotist in Maks for a while either.
Remember David Jansen (The Fugitive)? I always thought he was such a hunk until someone told me he had big ears. I had never noticed them (actually Clark Gable’s either) before and it totally ruined him for me. I hope I don’t start looking for bad things with Gilles now.
October 24, 2012 at 4:34 pm #36106PattiParticipantthat was probably my favorite dance of all time on DWTS. It was magnificantly choreographed, and Derek coached her with the true professional he is so that she could relax and do the routine showing a side of her she is not used to. She seems to be quite shy, but she handled last night beautifully. They could not have appeared more convincing for me that they were deeply in love, and that ending with Derek fading into the fog, which really did appear like icy water, was absolutely amazing. I wouldn’t be surprised if she won it all this year.
I agree with MK that Gilles is coming off a bit too egotistical this season. Don’t know why … he certainly doesn’t have to …. but he appears somewhat resentful when he is criticized on any level and appears not to like it when they don’t praise him enough.
Again, my poor Maks. He may have taken over the choreography from Gilles with their team dance, but when Kirstie bent over, her butt in the air, and attempted to shake, rattle and roll, it was a bit more than I would have liked to see of her. I don’t know how he did those two cartwheel lifts with her. He must be strong as an ox.
Melissa is a beautiful dancer, but sometimes I think she tries to do too much. Same goes for Sabrina for me. Sometimes they just try and do too much too fast and mess up slightly, but yet very, very good. People don’t like Kelly on a personal level, but I do. She is so pretty and petite, and her dancing ability is just lovely to me. Emmett is Emmett …. a huge man, yet light as a feather on his feet.
All in all, great all-star season, and picking the winner will probably come down to personal favorite rather than best dancer, but who can choose from this group (minus Kirstie) …. they’re all fabulous.
