I know this show is not about dancing; it’s about popularity. I know there have been some shocking eliminations in past seasons, but last night was just unbelievable. Now I’m no fan of Elizabeth Berkely but she absolutely deserves to still be there over Bill Engvall. And she just got all 10’s for one of her dances.
His dances were a joke but the judges keep overscoring him. 7’s??? Really? Especially for that 2nd dance when the girls just danced around him and he was stomping around. He didn’t peform the dance but the judges go ga-ga over his comical routines and are harder on everybody else for making the tiniest mistake. Nothing against him; he’s a real likeable guy, but come on, why is he still there going into the semi-finals???? He should have been so embarrassed but it’s not his fault the judges inflate his scores and people keep voting for him.
When will I ever learn that the show is a popularity contest.
November 12, 2013 at 9:59 pm #41664DCola522ParticipantI was shocked too, but yes, this show has always been more about the viewer voting than the talent of the contestants. The ones with the biggest fan bases have always done better on this show… this season is no exception. I do agree though, that the judges tend to nitpick with certain contestants but not others… because they are "entertaining".
November 13, 2013 at 1:24 am #41671BonbonParticipantIt should have been Bill (did you notice Shana was crying already before they announced it and the shocked look on her face when it wasn’t Bill?) or Jack Osborne. Elizabeth was exceedingly better than both of them. I think her career took a very bad hit when she made Showgirls and she dosn’t have a lot of fans. Too bad.
We shouldn’t be discussing this until Patti gets back because I know she’ll definitely have comments on this one..
November 13, 2013 at 2:17 pm #41681MKParticipantToo bad Bill didn’t bow out gracefully but I’m sure that wouldn’t have been allowed. I know it’s not his fault he’s still in but he should have done the right thing. I know some people like him because he’s entertaining and they thought he was improving week to week but I didn’t see any improvement. He just doesn’t have what it takes. He has no rhythm or natural dance ability so no matter how many lessons he has, he just won’t do any better. And, why did he and his partner look upset when they got 7’s? They should have been ecstatic ’cause they sure didn’t deserve 7’s; maybe 5’s.
I have many more comments but for now, I’ll leave it at that.
November 13, 2013 at 6:17 pm #41687MKParticipantCouple more things:
I loved Leah and Tony’s routine (and the other guy) doing the impersonation of the judges. That was hysterical! and so much fun!
I’m rooting for Corbin and Karina. Love their dancing and I usually love her choreography. Amber’s really good, too.
November 13, 2013 at 8:17 pm #41691goodolddaysParticipantI LOVED Leah and Tony’s trio dance impersonating the judges – very clever and funny! I also like Corbin. I don’t care for Amber.
November 13, 2013 at 11:28 pm #41692PattiParticipantI’m back Bon. Surgery went well, but you were so right about the pain. I don’t know where to go today just to keep my sanity on track. Thank God for drugs! LOL!
I still can’t get over Elizabeth being sent home instead of
Bill. That young woman was FABULOUS!!! Only thing I could fathom was people don’t or won’t warm up to Val. He seems somewhat cold and impatient at times, to me anyway.November 14, 2013 at 3:37 am #41702shadowParticipantI do agree that Elizabeth was a good dancer, but she had the strangest look out of her eyes. I just knew Bill was going to go. It was a surprise.
Val has given me a creepy feeling ever since he came on DWTS. He can’t seem to keep his hands off of his partners.
November 14, 2013 at 4:55 am #41704PattiParticipantand Val appeared to be somewhat full of himself most of the time, whether it was in rehearsal or on the dance floor and even in interviews. Maybe he was afraid Elizabeth was outshining him. lol. His brother Macs did the same thing, at times, but I liked him so much more than Val.
November 18, 2013 at 7:59 pm #41721MKParticipantWell, another night of "Dancing" tonight. Can’t wait to see how the judges judge Bill tonight after last week’s fiasco of an elimination. I’m sure they realize that their inflated scores were part of the reason he’s still here and Elizabeth is not (and I’m not even a fan of hers). He is not improving week to week, has no dance ability, and he just needs to leave.
We’ll see if the judges get tough on him or still say things like "great entertainment" and "well done" so here’s your 7’s! Then to Karina and Corbin say "I think you were a centimeter out of step with your parter–what happened there?" LOL!
November 19, 2013 at 2:23 pm #41729MKParticipantI was right. Bill was overscored yet again. Poor Leah and Tony; they deserved to be there instead of Bill. It’s funny because Carrie Ann said she was going to be extra picky but it was obvious, especially in Bill’s first dance, that she wasn’t with him. I didn’t like Maks as a judge. At one point, he even said something like "who cares about the technical things"–words to that effect. So which is it? Judge some on dance ability and technicality or judge others based on just entertainment factor. I guess the show doesn’t know what it supposed to be. It’s too inconsistent in the judging. If somebody signs up for the show, regardless of dance ability or past experience, they should be judged like everybody else.
I still enjoy watching Amber and Corbin (and even Jack has grown on me a lot!) and I hope Corbin wins. Karina is my favorite pro as well. I love her choreography and her enthusiasm. Though Bill probably has a great shot at winning the whole enchilada. Then the show would be completely and totally laughable (more than it is now) and would prove beyond any doubt that it’s not about dance at all. Future contestants would just have to show up and be cute and funny.
That’s my little rant for the day!
November 19, 2013 at 2:45 pm #41735BonbonParticipantAs much as I like bill, he should have been gone long ago.
And I am surprised at what good dancers came right out of the gate. We even talked about them getting such high scores the first couple of weeks, yet, there really aren’t any outstanding dancers this late in the game.
It’s sad but i really can’t come up with a favorite. I guess Corbin is the best dancer but I just don’t feel that strongly towards him.
November 19, 2013 at 4:07 pm #41737PattiParticipantso I don’t care that she’s gone. She could not take criticism AT ALL and gave off a bad vibe for me; like she didn’t deserve it. And Tony sure looked p.o.’d to me, no matter how much he tried not to look it. I’m so rooting for Amber to win it. That young lady is amazing.
