I think this was the best show ever, music-wise, in the history of the show.  I absolutely loved the selections they made to play, loved the full orchestra, the classical violinist and soprano.  Now, I have to admit that I am a classical music afficianado but it was so good to hear some really great music.  In spite of the difficulty of dancing to classical music, I wish they’d use some more often.

BUT…in many of the dances, I thought the selection of the song to the dance was way off base.  There are so many paso doble pieces that could be played when they dance the paso doble, I don’t know why they don’t use them.  I mean, come on, playing a Viking song (In the Hall of the Mountain King) for a Spanish dance?  Ridiculous.  And the song they picked from Carmen was the worst possible of all the beautiful (and appropriate) music from that opera they could have used.

I though Chelsea and Mark were superior, in the choreography, the costumes, and the execution.  I would have given them straight 10s.  Cheryl and Ralph were also great…brought tears to my eyes.

Yes, last night was the best show ever.  It’s going to be tough picking one couple to go tonight…VERY tough.

was outstanding.  I don’t know anything about classical music, but love listening to it.  Maybe because of that lack of knowledge, I didn’t get the Mark and Chelsea dance at all.  It was great choreography for sure; but, it lost me in the interpretation.  My favorite is still Hines who I thought performed superbly.  Ralph gives a completely different presentation with his body and is also a fabulous performer.  The wrestler has really surprised me with his ability too.  I think the one to go home tonight is Kendra.  She really was afraid to loosen up and let Louie bring her through the dance.  We’ll see what happens tonight.  Overall, the songs, orchestra and performances were a thoroughly beautiful evening of entertainment!

I happen to be one who loves classical music, as well as opera.  First off, I don’t know which impressed me more; the 46 piece orchestra, David Garrett or Katherine Jenkins.  All 3 were absolutely amazing to me.  Garrett’s opening rendition with the orchestra of Beethovan’s Fifth sent chills right through me, and Katherine Jenkins was truly exquisite.  I could just as well have watched and listened without the dancing; BUT for me it was a question of could these pros work hard enough with this year’s contestants to pull off the dances without doing an injustice to the pure musical genius behind them.  The answer is …… some of them could.  I don’t like Kendra Wilkinson at all and hope she goes home tonight.  Her sticking her finger down her throat was about as ignorant as her interpretation of the Viennese waltz.  Then, to make matters worse, she compares it to the Mafia and Al Capone, and says she is the ‘godmother of the Viennese waltz.  Really?  She should most definitely be the one to go home, IMO.

My favorites were: 1) Hines Ward’s paso doble (I hope he takes it all); 2) Chelsea Kane (perfect depiction of Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter); and 3) Ralph Macchio’s ever-so-graceful waltz.  They really did look like Romeo and Juliet out there.

Poor Kirsty and Maks.  They’re beginning to look like they are expected to have some kind of mishap each week.  I hope they get through.  Chris Jericho is a bit cocky, but he and Cheryl were very good this week.  Poor Sugar Ray tried to hide the fact that he was totally out of his element, and clowned it up a bit too much.  Petra was good, but Dmitry can make anyone look good.  What a cuteie, and a terrific teacher/dancer.  As for Romeo, he’s just a little too hip-hop/rock and roll for this type of interpretive dance, but a dollbaby anyway.  GO HOME KENDRA!

stick her finger in her mouth that way.  What an ass.  I wonder how she’d feel if someone did that at the mention of Playboy magazine, which I could easily do in all good conscience.

People that put down classical music have never really "listened" to it.  There has to be something said about music that has lasted hundreds of years.  You can’t say that about any of the Top 20, or rap, or any pop music.  Of course there’s a lot of it that doesn’t appeal to everybody, you just have to find the stuff that YOU like…and there’s certainly plenty to choose from.  God bless Disney for his original

Fantasia film.  It got thousands of kids to appreciate classical music.

I am trying to introduce my granddaughter to classical music as her parents aren’t really into it.  I bought her 20 of the more popular songs for her IPod and she seems to be really appreciating it.  She’s also taking piano lessons from one of the old school teachers who still assign classical songs for lessons.  I hope she will stay with it.  Classical music has brought me a lot of comfort and entertainment in my years.

Lucky, Chelsea and Mark danced to a song from the Harry Potter movies.  They were dressed as wizards.  Although that wasn’t actually what I’d call a classic, IMO, anything written by John Williams will be one, if it isn’t already.  That man is pure genius.  It was one of the few songs I thought was appropriate for the dance and Mark’s interpretation of it was very well done.

story they were interpreting with their performance.  Mark is a very creative choreographer.  I understand Len is very strict in the relationship between the dance and the music; but, I think he sometimes forgets that the entertainment factor in this competition is important too.  If these were all professionals in a competition, his harsh comments would be more acceptable.  Then again, it’s fun to watch the three judges interact with each other and their varying opinions.

speaks to you.  As a kid, I don’t remember really liking it but as I aged, it became more interesting/enjoyable. I found the same with some jazz music.  There are other types of music that I really don’t like (opera and rap) and probably never will.  My grandparents loved opera and played it all the time but I never got it and didn’t want to be around it.

regardless of how comedic his performance appeared, it was still better than Kendra’s, who looked like Louie was dragging her around the floor.  I do applaud him for bringing her comments to light in the form of his disappointment in her.  She looked like she took it to heart, though; but, we’ll see next week, I would imagine, when the theme is American patriotism.  I liked the little skit with Lieutenant Len, but my favorite part of the entertainment last night was not Jennifer Hudson (although I do like her), but the ballet performers.  What amazing strength and athleticism those dancers showed.  Oh well, I guess I’m grateful that they didn’t eliminate Casey and Mark or Kirstie and Maks at any rate.

in Kendra.  He’s a very serious artist and I couldn’t imagine him letting her attitude go without comment.  The professionals have a tough job and for her to have spoken in such a dismissive manner was an insult to Louie.  It surprised me that they actually let the viewers see his response.  She should have been the one to go last night.  I would guess that her husband’s sports connections and her Playboy associates kept her from going home.  That’s too bad because Sugar Ray danced better and had a much better attitude.

Swan Lake has always been one of my favorites and I never cease to cry when the Black Swan dies, even last night I got tears.  I have seen the girl from the SF Ballet (the White Swan) dance in The Nutcracker and Blue Suede Shoes (when I lived in CA), and, you’re right, those dancers are every bit as athletic as most football players or other sportsmen.  And they not only have the alethetisicm but the grace and beauty also.

And God Bless Louie for bringing Kendra to task for her tastless remark.  I liked her in the beginning but she has destroyed every bit of what I felt about her.  I hope she goes home next, fervently hope she goes home!

Did you mean Chelsea, not Casey?  I think Chelsea and Mark were just a red herring.  I can’t believe they were in the bottom three…no way!

She and Mark are waaaayyyyy too good to ever be in the bottom three.  Sometimes I think Len is a little rough on Mark.  His continued discouragement of Mark’s renditions of these dances just goes to show how much he disapproves of any changes to what he calls 300 year old dances.  I think Mark is a wonderful dancer …. one of the show’s best, in fact.  By the way, did you notice how he leapt into mid-air from a floor "push-up" position at the instant Chelsea pointed at him, as if she were waving her magic wand, levitating him.  It was synchronization at its best.  I just love those two.

That was an incredible physical feat.  I think he is by far the best choreographer, even though Maks does a lot of the "extra" choreography for the show.  Maybe now that they have this new troupe, one of them will be doing more of it.

I sure would love to take lessons from one of those guys.  Would that be fantastic, or what?  Of course, I’m way to old for that now.  Boo-hoo.
