If J. R. Martinez doesn’t win this season, I will be so disappointed. This young man is the whole package.
It’s time for Carson to go. Even Chaz Bono is better than he is now. Yes, he’s funny; yes, he’s entertaining, but this is a ballroom dance competition, not a comedy hour.
I’m really disappointed in Hope. She’s beginning to bug me the way she appears to be defying everything Maks tells her. Who’s the pro here, Hope?
David Arquette is improving more and more, but I don’t see him winning it.
Derek and Rikki Lake slipped up last night, IMO. That performance was probably the weakest I’ve seen from them.
Nancy is another one who thinks she knows more than the pro. She’s not improving, either.
Say what you will about the Kardashians, but Rob is gaining ground. Cheryl is keeping him grounded and he does seem to be following her lead, unlike some of the other stars with their pros are concerned.
Chaz is gaining, if nothing else, much more confidence in himself, but I’m afraid it’s false hope, because in all probability most of his votes are coming from fans of Cher, which is fine; but, I don’t think it will be enough to keep him in it much longer.
Finally, I wish one night …. just one night …. they would have the music fit the dance. The challenge of the dance is hard enough on these stars without having to think about matching the dance to the song. The only song that really fit the dance last night was J.R.’s and Karina’s samba. The rest were ridiculous.
October 18, 2011 at 4:25 pm #27723MKParticipantI agree about the music, Patti. I was looking forward to the whole 80’s theme last night mostly for the costumes since I was a teenager during that time, but I knew that the music would most likely not fit the dances. And I was right. This has been a complaint of mine practically since the beginning of the show. Even if a dance is technically perfect and has a lot of emotional expression along with it, there’s no way it will look as great as it could be if the music isn’t right for it. The music must fit the flavor of the dance to make me feel the dance or else the dance feels empty to me.
And I also love JR. He has natural rhythm and can express the emotions of the dance which makes me really get into his dancing. Dancing to the song they danced to last night, "Conga", really did fit the flavor of the dance. I always loved that song.
October 18, 2011 at 5:22 pm #27726BonbonParticipantI just don’t understand why they have to use the music that is so not suited to the dances. MK, you’re so right about how much better the dance appears when there is good music.
I conked out right after the first dance last night so have to watch it before I see tonight’s show. I won’t be home tonight anyway so I can just watch them all tomorrow.
Patti, I don’t agree with you about Carson going. I would much rather watch his poor dancing and great entertainment than see Nancy’s or Chaz’ awkward performances. And you can see he’s putting everything he’s got into it. He’s very much like Bristol Paylin and Kate Goslin, they just all have two left feet. My DH was like that. No matter how I tried to teach him to dance (and I consider myself an above average dancer), he just couldn’t get it. He was painful to watch. Bless him, though, at least he got out there and tried.
October 18, 2011 at 9:43 pm #27731caseyParticipantof the couples last night. I agree about Hope and Nancy – I don’t know Hope, but Nancy obviously is a knowitall. But these gals don’t know squat about dancing, so I wish they’d put a sock in it and be a bit humble.
Chaz suprised me, as he actually danced some. So I think he’ll be safe. Rob too, not bad.October 19, 2011 at 12:49 pm #27741PattiParticipantCarson is gone, and although he was always entertaining with his comments to the judges and to the audience, it was time for him to go. His routines, as well as his costumes, were outrageous, but they were practically the same every week, and the poor guy just looked like a chicken on stilts out there ever week to me, right down to the neck popping. There’s only so much these pros can do with these stars, and regardless of how funny and entertaining they are, or how much they want to be saved, if the talent is not there, it just ain’s gonna’ happen, and for every bad dancer that is allowed to remain once it gets to this level, then one good one is probably going to be sent home, and I just feel so bad when that happens.
October 19, 2011 at 4:46 pm #27755luckeyParticipantafter the first show was Khloe Kardashian’s big mouth. Ever since she shouted out at Len the first night, she’s been quiet. I’m not a fan of that family, but Rob is really improving quite well. Since Chynna is gone, I’ve moved my voting to JR. I like Ricki too, but I think JR is better.
October 19, 2011 at 11:44 pm #27771BonoSugaRayParticipantI’m glad that JR, Ricki, and my home girl Nancy Grace are still in it! I was sooo hoping that Chaz Bono (no relation) would be eliminated last night (heck, Chaz should’ve been eliminated in week two!), but, alas, my guy Carson was! BOOOOO! Am I the only one who thinks Chaz’s performances are the worst of ’em all?! Oh my goodness! I can barely stand to see Chaz "scribble scrabble" across the dance floor. Carson is such an entertaining guy! He brought glitz and glamour to the dance floor! And his costumes were awesome! …I thought Nancy Grace was uber good this past Monday (but then again, she always is)! ROCK ON, NANCY! Hopefully, she – along with JR (who is totally the best of ’em all), and Ricki (the second best dancer of the entire bunch) – make it to the final three!
October 20, 2011 at 12:16 pm #27794BonbonParticipantHas David fallen off the wagon? He was so manic both Monday and Tuesday nights, I’m really worried. I can imagine that with all the stress this show puts on the dancers that it would be very tempting for him to do so. I sure hope not. He’s my favorite this season and I was so happy he was getting his life back together again. I also noticed that Courtney’s eyes were red like she had been crying. Please, please, please, let me be wrong.
As for the eliminations, yes, I know it was time for Carson to go but I still think Nancy and Chaz are worse dancers, they are both very wooden and not enjoyable to watch at all. At least Carson added some pizzaz to his dances and he was much more entertaining.
I really hate to see Maks and Hope in jeopardy so often. They do NOT deserve that. I wonder if Maks’ mouth is getting to the viewers.
October 20, 2011 at 2:37 pm #27809MKParticipantAs I think Brooke had said, it would have been great to see Carson make it to next week which is Broadway week. It certainly would have been entertaining!
JR for me all the way!
