It looks like this season has some winners and some losers. There were a couple of them that are going to have to improve very fast or they’ll be out of there. And there’re a couple of surprisingly good ones. The Robinson girl for one. It’s going to be very interesting just what her dad is going to let her do/wear but she sure could “shake that thing!” Like Julianne said, she’s got that something natural that you just can’t teach.
And what a surprise from Tommy Chong. Although his dance wasn’t terribly technical, he sure did pull it off well. I don’t think he’ll go much further though. And how nice to see Cheech and Chong together again.
You know, I feel sorry for Peta and Tony. They always seem to get such duds as partners. You never see that happen with Derek or Mark. I sure wish they would tell us how they select the pairs, if it’s just random or intentional. I can’t help but think they pair them to what will produce the best viewing. Duh!
September 16, 2014 at 12:41 pm #45249caseyParticipantwas the fighter Randy. From the profile he looked so clumsy. But he was surprisingly light-footed and I very much enjoyed his dance. I was a bit disappointed with judge Julianne. She didn’t add much.
September 16, 2014 at 2:46 pm #45258PattiParticipantare going to be anywhere near the caliber of last season’s. Hell, I don’t even know who half of these people are. Looks like my cutie Maks decided to hang up his dancing shoes. Boo!!
September 16, 2014 at 2:50 pm #45259PattiParticipantand I agree, she is not enjoyable as a judge; she needs to stick to dancing and acting…something she’s great at.
September 16, 2014 at 2:51 pm #45260MKParticipantThis show is less and less about ballroom each season. The music as usual, doesn’t fit most dances. It’s just so gimmicky now. With that said, I still take it for what it is and enjoy watching (I usually switch around to different shows though). I think it’s a really enjoyable cast this season with the exception of that really tall athletic looking woman. She did a cha cha and said she really messed up (I didn’t see the actual dance but saw the judges’ comments). I know she was probably frustrated with herself but most times during the show, when the camera panned to her, she had a puss face on.
Who the heck is Derek paired with? A YouTube sensation? Guess they ran out of people to put on the show. I didn’t care much for her but it was only the first show.
I saw Alfonso Ribeiro’s dance and was blown away. Like one of the judges said, he just has a natural dancing ability. I thought they all did okay. I liked Lea Thompson’s dance. I thought the race car driver has a great personality and was very funny. I hope Betsey Johnson doesn’t go home first. I didn’t think she was that bad and she has a really upbeat, positive personality. I’d rather see puss face go home first (don’t know her name or what she does).
September 16, 2014 at 2:52 pm #45261MKParticipantAnd what was with Julianne’s dress? Could her boobs stick out any more? Very tasteless.
September 16, 2014 at 9:51 pm #45269dvalParticipantthey didn’t match. The hair said prude, the dress said come on baby, LOL.
I think she is there to stay. I read that Len is not going to be on every week. He wants to take some time off. he and Bruno also judge the British version of the show, I believe I read, and it is too much for him jetting back and forth especially now that he is married again.
I hope Lolo Jones goes first. What a whiner she was last night and certainly not displaying any Olympic spirit of resiliency, complaining about the phone not beeping the text message so she didn’t know when to start dancing. hello honey, listen to the MUSIC!
I also liked Betsy Johnson and thought she was doing okay until she got tangled up in her boa, LOL. And Tommy Chong was surprisingly good. I was worried after I saw the practice package when he had on the big baggy shorts and black socks on those scrawny old man legs, LOL.
September 17, 2014 at 5:34 am #45279BonbonParticipantBoy, talk about cauliflower ear, that is a good example. I’m surprised they can’t do something plastic surgery wise for that. There are several pictures of him and his ear here:
It’s amazing that anyone would subject their body to something that could result in that.
September 17, 2014 at 5:42 am #45280BonbonParticipantI think it was her bad attitude and sourpuss face that did her in. If she had been more gracious and less whiney about it, the fans may have given her a break so she’s got nobody to blame but herself.
Betsy will probably go next though and I just hate that Tony gets cheated out once again with a dud for a partner. I’m sorry but I don’t find her entertaining at all, only an old lady desperately trying to hold on to the lime light. I really wish they would not select these people over 70. We know they aren’t going to last. They can’t possibly go up against the younger, more athletic ones.
As far as not knowing half the “stars,” that’s true just about every year. I didn’t get the selection of the blogger though. That is hardly a star, even in the broadest sense of the word.
September 17, 2014 at 12:20 pm #45282caseyParticipantthe blogger selection is an attempt to draw in the younger set. As for Jones, she was stiff and a malcontent who deserved to be booted.
September 17, 2014 at 2:39 pm #45287PattiParticipantand if she’s smart, she’ll adjust her attitude from here on. No one likes to be the first to go home, but Lolo’s was bad right from the start. I felt more sorrow for her partner than I did for her.
September 18, 2014 at 4:26 am #45299BonbonParticipantEspecially since he was brand new to the show. He didn’t even get a chance to show his talent.
September 23, 2014 at 12:27 pm #45351caseyParticipantBetsy did much better, didn’t realize Tommy was 76 (I hope I’m that energetic at that age), and the race driver needs to go – way too stiff.
What was up with Julianne’s hair? I would not appear in public like I just got up.September 23, 2014 at 9:15 pm #45354PattiParticipanthave young, talented stars, even though I don’t know who in the heck either one of them are. LOL!
September 23, 2014 at 9:18 pm #45355BonbonParticipantHow could Julianne possibly think that was attractive? And I’ll have to admit, I like the job she’s doing as judge. Fair yet constructive.
I think they have Michael Walthrop (sp?) there purely for the comedy. You’ve got to admit, he is funny. And he has an enormous NASCAR following so I don’t expect to see him go real soon.
