Sadly she is heavy by TV standards. That’s why so many have eating disorders. That’s what leads to Hope looking so alarmingly thin. The media has poisoned the minds of our young women and men.
February 17, 2011 at 1:57 am #2096353tdogsParticipantEJ and Nicole are a couple. I was sorry for Brady that she left him in the lurch and so abruptly, however, Nicole and EJ "mesh" much better as a couple. As you mentioned LynneKaren, they accept each other, they know each other and there are no surprises with each other when they go down the "dark" side. If they have super power couples that are "good" why can’t they (besides Stefano and Kate), have a "baddddddddd a-s" couple that clicks!
February 17, 2011 at 2:14 am #2096453tdogsParticipantSami went on sugar busters diet, she has maintained a size 4. Just how small is small for t.v.? Sami was a normal size 12 (when I say normal – most adult women in the USA who are in their 40/50/60’s are 12 to 14).
Hope was almost sickly looking for about two years and I was glad to see her gain back 5 little measley pounds in her face and neck – she was looking like a concentration camp survivor for awhile there. Kristen is a beautiful woman.
Yepper yep, have to agree with ya Majenco, media and "fashion" have ruined a normal body image for women. There are ten-year old girls on crash diets! Look at Marilyn Manroe, Betty Grable, Gina Lollabrigida, Sophie Loren and all the older stars – They were and still are world wide icons of femininity – beautiful women! I blame Twiggy and Hugh Hefner.
February 17, 2011 at 12:38 pm #20971BonbonParticipantthat they’re won’t keep them together is if, for some reason, James and Ari don’t work well together. I’m not saying that’s what it is because they sure come across on the screen well. But if they’re not comfortable together TPTB may think it’s best to separate them. Either that or they just want to piss us off.

February 17, 2011 at 2:42 pm #20982PattiParticipantand Rafe gives him a good ass-whippin’ when his disgusting story line is over, I could give a crap about who he marries. Hell, it could be Mary for all I care.
February 17, 2011 at 5:22 pm #20987zsuzsaParticipantEj is just too evil for anyone else, especially Taylor. I think that they are the two most complex characters on the show, and they both are bad enough not to judge the other. Nicole really is trying to be good and just have a happy family life, and she softens EJ a little. I wish they would leave Taylor out of the mix, and let them fall completely back in love. Then Nicole could find out about Rafe and be torn between loyalty to EJ and trying to be a decent person. She really is the best "Dimera" in that house, though, and I don’t understand why Stefano hates her so much. He, after all, went along with her plan about Sydney and thought it best. She is the one who saved his life and empire when Victor was holding him captive, while EJ was ready to sign everything over. You would think that they would recognize her as truly being one of their own.
Bonbon, I can see why your son would say that Ali is fat, since she doesn’t fit the mold of the anorexic amazons on the runways and magazines today. She has the fuller, curvier look of the pin-up models of the 40’s and 50’s. She always looks glowing and gorgeous, though. Especially on The Biggest Loser. They have better stylists on that show, and my husband and I always discuss her different looks each episode. Has anyone else ever noticed that they NEVER repeat her hairstyle on that show? I don’t know how they can come up with so many different looks, but she’s always gorgeous!
February 17, 2011 at 10:47 pm #20996PattiParticipantwhy Johnny wasn’t wearing his eye patch in the wedding pictures was revealed. He’s having his eye implant tomorrow (of course, in Salem time that might be next week). I’m so glad about that; looked to me like that poor little guy was really irritated with that patch. He’s always grabbing at it or moving it. Must cause him some discomfort to wear it.
February 22, 2011 at 12:22 am #21125majencoParticipantIt really is sad. Girls starving themselves or purging and never feeling thin enough and the young guys who are feeding into this stereotype by calling size 4 or even 10 "fat"! It’s pathetic.
February 22, 2011 at 1:09 am #21130powerpaw2ParticipantI was shocked to find out that the Gap sells "skinny" jeans for little girls. How messed up is that?
February 22, 2011 at 2:41 am #21131majencoParticipantSo messed up. These little girls are being told they have to be unrealisticly thin and super sexualized in order to be pretty. It’s a disgrace.
February 22, 2011 at 12:10 pm #21136BonbonParticipantA lot of young girls (tweeners especially) are very thin at that age and regular sizes don’t fit them right. My g.daughter is one and so is the girl next door. Both moms complain about not being able to get pants that fit the body but are still long enough for their height. The skinny jeans do that.
Although, I’ll grant you, there are some tweeners who have already fallen into the weight trap. It’s really a shame.
February 22, 2011 at 12:12 pm #21137BonbonParticipantSami’s "girls" are so large, it gives the illusion of her being overweight. Also, she has a full face, not gaunt like Hope’s. When you see her entire body you can tell she is very slim.
February 23, 2011 at 12:01 am #21166SWParticipantrecently I saw on tv where a model was told she was ‘too fat’ at size 4 when she was 5′ 8" or 5’9"! It upset her so much she almost died trying to get thin enough to satisfy others. It’s scary to think that someone that tall is too fat at a size 4. Many of the tv actresses are size 0 or at the most a size 2 and it’s a tiny size 2 too. Ali looks great and from what I’ve read, she eats very healthy but doesn’t starve herself.
I also wonder about the ‘beauty’ contests for little kids where they make them up to look like ‘adults’ (to me they look like the head of an adult on a baby’s body- not attractive at all). Kids should be kids and not mini-adults.
February 23, 2011 at 4:46 am #21168DeeLanParticipantTotally agree. I keep thinking about Karen Carpenter. She was told by some record big shot that she was overweight or she needed to lose weight and she became anorexic trying to get there. That mindset eventually killed her. Tracey Gold from Growing Pains was told by a director or producer that she needed to lose weight and she tried so hard and became anorexic. She got so bad they had to write her out of a season or two for health reasons. If people would only stop to think about what certain comments can do to a person.
