Last night was a fairytale ending to a fairytale career – Jeter getting the game-winning hit to end his storied career in Yankee Stadium.
What a stellar player and more importanlty, a class act all the way. Whether a Yankee fan or not, whether a baseball follower or not, this grounded and humble human being is one sports legend we should all admire and all of what is good about the American pasttime.

He is a legend of the game. I may not be a Yankee fan, but I certainly am a Derek Jeter one.

And how nice to see in this day and age of all the bad boy athletes we are seeing.

although baseball has had its fair share of bad boys in the game with the PED scandals, and now football seemingly having the worst of late with all of these acts of violence against women, etc., there are two baseball players who have managed to remain squeaky clean throughout their entire careers, staying with one team start to finish, i.e., Derek Jeter with the Yankees and Cal Ripken, Jr. with the Orioles. KUDOS to these two exemplary sportsmen.
