What kind of hospital doesn’t have automatic back-up for files?

And the same with Daniel and his personal computer. Hasn’t he ever heard of back-up programs or the cloud? Crikey, even my lowly little computer backs up everything every 5 minutes and not just to my hard drive but off someplace in the air somewhere.

especially for the hospital computer. Plot points are shamefully ridiculous!

Application servers, databases, and user files saved to file servers get backed up. The hard drives of individual laptops or desktop towers do not get backed up. Since Daniel was keeping this under the radar, it was probably not saved to a network share and therefore would not get backed up.
