Just saw this on Facebook:
October 7, 2014 at 11:17 pm #45497bluebonnetParticipantWonder if he is from this area of the country.
Thanks for posting, rcel.
October 8, 2014 at 12:36 am #45498powerpaw2ParticipantAccording to the report, "Speed and alcohol are suspected to be factors in the crash."
Take a cab for crying out loud. And get well soon!
October 8, 2014 at 2:51 pm #45499MKParticipantThis makes me so mad. If he was drinking and speeding, he could have killed somebody. People will never learn. It’s funny that the six comments I just read on the site that rcel posted a link to, not one person condemns what he did (if in fact he was drinking and speeding.). Funny that celebrities are held to different standards. If this was in the local news in say, Boston, that some ordinary guy did this, people would be up in arms but when a celebrity does it, it’s a different story. I’m glad he’s okay but even happier he didn’t kill anybody, but he needs to learn a lesson from this and he should be ecstatic that he didn’t kill anybody.
October 8, 2014 at 4:22 pm #45500caseyParticipantI bet if it were the actress who plays Theresa there would be no positive comments. Because Sonny is such a likeable guy on tv, that gives him a pass in real life? All you who don’t come down on Mr. Smith shame on you. Either drining or speeding would be bad enough, but both make a deadly combo. And if Freddie says he “made a mistake” doesn’t hold water with me. You just do not get behind a loaded weapon like a car and think you can make it anywhere safely. I do hope this young man got a wakeup call.
October 8, 2014 at 5:02 pm #45501MKParticipantAt least I know I’m not the only one who is angry about this. And you’re right, casey, Freddie portrays a likeable character in Sonny so I guess for some it does give him a pass. They feel they know this guy based on his character on a soap.
When I read online comments in our local news about a drunk/speeding driver, pretty much everyone comes down on this person hard, which is the way it should be. But it is okay when a celebrity does it and one that plays Mr. Nice Guy on TV?
October 9, 2014 at 1:14 pm #45511dvalParticipantand this was the other day, were just posts wishing Freddie and his lady friend a speedy recovery. I don’t see anything wrong with that, frankly. None of the posts even mentioned the drinking possibility. Just hopes that they both recover from whatever injuries they may have. Now after that it should be left to the police to handle the situation, which I am sure they will. I am in no way, shape or form condoning what he did and he certainly deserves whatever the fullest punishment is but I certainly hope that they both recuperate from their injuries.
October 9, 2014 at 2:52 pm #45512justwonderingParticipantPerhaps the news release should have said that "the cause of the crash is under investigation". It takes time to reconstruct and investigate before any conclusions can be made. There should be no rush to judgement.
Finally, I do hope that he and his girl friend make a full recovery.
