ParticipantI know JennM does geocaching, maybe others here do as well. I believe someone posted some good websites a LONG time ago (previous board, maybe) that have good info for beginners. If anyone knows some good sites, please post them.
also, I would especially like to know whether the handheld GPS units you use for geocaching can be used for driving directions like a tomtom can (without the spoken directions, presumably).
Thanks in advance for info

Participantlove to be able to back for just one day and feel that wonderfulness again! There was a mention of the principal’s office and then going home to get it from your parents too. Well, our son who is now 31, would get to the principal’s office on occasion in elementary school and he’d get hit with the double wammy because his Mom (me!) was the principal’s secretary!!! He was very glad when he went on to high school and left elementary school and his mom behind!

ParticipantHad to ‘Google’ to remember what this post was about. Then I watched ‘Law & Order, SVU’ and guess what the show was about–geocaching.

ParticipantThat Law and Order episode about geocaching was WAY LAME.
If you go to http://www.geocaching.com and register/log in (it’s free) and click on the "forums" page, there is a lot of info for getting started.
You might also want to see if there’s a group local to you. Plenty of areas have local get-togethers or even clubs. I’ve met some great people caching – including my boyfriend of just over 3 years
We "met" through local caches but met face to face at a geocaching social.I don’t cache as much these days as I’d like to but I still love the game and get out there whenever I can.
For those who don’t know what it is – it’s a scavenger-hunt type game using GPS.
