That was really a tough one. They found that the tube that drips the liver enzymes into my intestines was plugged with gall stones. So now they don’t know if it was the stones or the spasms that was causing the pain. Anyway, I’m home…shouldn’t be but I HAD to get out of that miserable hospital. I am in such pain that I can hardly walk and can only lay flat on my back. And getting there is the hard part and it’s been three days now. So, PLEASE, keep those prayers coming.
July 3, 2011 at 12:22 pm #24915kprstrsParticipantI am SO sorry you are still in such pain! Will most assuredly be praying for you!
July 3, 2011 at 1:55 pm #24916DebbiParticipantSo sorry to hear you are in so much pain! Thinking of you and sending healing thoughts! Take care!!
July 3, 2011 at 2:23 pm #24917PattiParticipantbut at least now you know what was causing you all that pain and hopefully it has been corrected. I wish you well, my friend, and know that my prayers and thoughts are with you. I will continue to pray that your day-to-day recovery will improve dramatically in a very short time.
July 3, 2011 at 3:10 pm #24919NoraParticipantPrayers on the way Bonbon, do you have anything you can take for the pain? Hope it goes away soon. Glad you’re home in your own bed though. so much better than the hospital.
July 4, 2011 at 3:06 am #2492453tdogsParticipantsoon. I’ve heard gall stones are awful, were they able to do anything about them? Or your spasms? Just rest and recouperate! Three days isn’t a lot of time for recovery so all the "Salem Place" doctors are ordering you to take it easy and get better! All the best!
July 4, 2011 at 12:14 pm #24926BonbonParticipantand opened the sphincter so it can no longer spasm.
You guys are the greatest…thanks to all for your prayers and good words. I’ll TRY to be patient. :o)
July 4, 2011 at 12:56 pm #24927DeeLanParticipantI remember when I started having the spasms the surgeon told me they needed to check me and run tests during an attack which was difficult since I was doubled up on the floor at the time and couldn’t move. He then told me he had a patient that they discovered stones about 10 years after she had her gallbladder removed.
I’m only lucky it happens if I take anything with an opiate in it (codiene, vicodin, hydrocodone but I can take 1/2 and I’m fine)
July 4, 2011 at 8:02 pm #24935BonbonParticipant13 years ago! You continue making gall stones but you’re supposed to be able to pass them.
I know what you mean about getting the testing done during an attack. It took me about 8 months to do it. I carried around a prescription for the blood test to take to the ER when I got one. When I finally got there I explained everything to the ER doc and he said, "Boy, I wish all my patients could come in with a complete diagnosis like that!"
I read about the opiates causing the spasms but I also read that they help the pain if you take them after the spasm begins. Go figure. It doesn’t seem to make any difference how much I take, sometimes I’d get one, sometimes I didn’t. I will say though that the longer I had them the milder they got and the shorter they became. The bad thing is that the doc couldn’t tell me if the pain I was having was from the stones or the spasms. I won’t get spasms again but I can still get stones. Great!
July 7, 2011 at 12:51 am #24990powerpaw2ParticipantReckon I should check out the Pub board more often. Hope you are feeling better and will say a prayer for you tonight!
July 10, 2011 at 9:33 pm #25066caseyParticipantNow that you’re a week past the surgery I sure hope you’re no longer restricted to lying on your back!
July 11, 2011 at 11:39 am #25069BonbonParticipantWell, I actually had to go back to the hospital again. I was having excruciating pain from the CO2 they use to pump up your belly for the laparoscopy. There is no place for it to go and you just have to wait for your body to reabsorb it. This has been, by far, the most painful surgery/recovery I’ve ever had.
The good news is, it’s getting better. Need to go in Thursday to get the stitches out. Thanks for asking about me. You guys are so sweet.
July 11, 2011 at 11:47 am #25070DebbiParticipantSorry to hear that you had to go back to the hospital. Hope all is improving now! Thinking of you!
July 11, 2011 at 5:47 pm #2507753tdogsParticipantrecouperating and taking it easy and getting better! What kind of stiches, the staple kind or the "soft" kind did they put in ya? You have just had your share of health issues in the last few months Bonbon, but I’m so happy to hear now you are doing better. So true what they say about "if you have your health, you have everything". My take on that is I sure wish I’d paid more attention when they said "take good care of your self!" Who knew it just wasn’t a platitude?
July 12, 2011 at 1:10 am #25088GoodyParticipantBonBon, you are in my prayers and good thoughts. It seems that you have had a bad patch of health problems for the past few months. I sincerely hope and pray that better health is in your very near future. God bless you.
