Why is there a need for Gwen, they had everything they needed to get rid of her, regarding of what she had done to Sarah’s mentality. To usher Ashford & Reeves out, they could have given the Spectator to Will to run & also they could have Sonny stay on at Titan, but here’s a twist, the characters of Will & Sonny will not be seen when they gave Massey & Tinker walking papers or a contract dispute. When the characters of Jack & Jennifer left to run the Boston newspaper, there wouldn’t have been a need to have them be blackmailed out of the Spectator, now would there? I’m not defending Jennifer’s actions when she chose to take pills again that caused Gwen’s accident, but when a parent loses a child, you tell me should she be blackmailed to give up the newspaper, given that it was her daughter’s murder that drove her to the choice to pop pills again? One Life to Live is also symmetrical with this, because when SE & BC were let go, the characters stayed but were never seen again, why not have that happen to Massey & Claywell by getting rid of O’Brien’s Gwen?
