Can you say ready for some football?! And what a way to kick it off than Bills vs Ravens.
Anyone who wants to jump on board rooting on your favs is heartily welcome.September 7, 2016 at 3:13 pm #52144PattiParticipantI was going to message you today as well. Looks like it should be a great game. Ravens went 4 and 0 in preseason, but now we’re all back to zero. I’m pretty happy with most of our new kids on the block, but a little disappointed we had to let Josh Johnson go as our back-up QB. He reminded me so very much of Tyrod Taylor. In any case, I’m really looking forward to our two teams going head to head in the season opener. Win or lose, I have to say good luck to your Bills AND to my Ravens. If there’s one thing for sure, it’s that I know who we’ll both be rooting for. LOL! I’m having such a hard time trying to concentrate between the Ravens and the Orioles, who are still in it to win it as well. So, here we go casey. Look forward to our many discussions this season!!! Agree, I know we’re not the only women who love football on this board, so please, back your teams and join us week to week.
GO RAVENS!!!!! GO BILLS!!!!!!
Stay injury free and give us a great game!
September 11, 2016 at 10:11 pm #52182caseyParticipantThis was hardly a highlight reel game and I am furious with the Bills’ gameplan. One pass over 20 yards – are you kidding?! Last year it was the Taylor/Watkins bomb connection and Coach Ryan promised more of this. Instead, it was a lame, boring and uninspired lack of attack. 164 total anemic yards with their nemisis the penalty flag hitting them again. Defense though, which was a weakness last year was fine today.
I give the Ravs full credit for their defensive effort but the Bills did not look offensively prepared for this one. They have to quickly (which is probably good) put this behind them as they have a Thursday game with the Jets upcoming.September 12, 2016 at 12:36 pm #52183PattiParticipanton both sides. It was, however, a game of great defense, since obviously Tyrod and Joe both had their share of problems; The Bills just made more mistakes than the Ravens, and that’s a fact casey. They also had more destructive penalties to overcome, but the Ravens defense won the game and held the Bills to 160 yards on the day. That was most impressive to me, because although Joe started out great, something tells me he’s a bit gun shy when it comes to running or scrambling. His protection wasn’s all that great, and the Bills got to him quite a few times with the sack. But, a win is a win, so I’m happy the Ravens got off to a good start. I guess I just expected a lot more from the Bills, and didn’t see it yesterday. Neither Tyrod nor Coach Ryan are easily intiminated, and they know the Ravens game very well, so it was a little surprising to me.
September 16, 2016 at 1:52 pm #52206PattiParticipantgoes out to you once again this week for your suffering through the Bills loss to the Jets. Normally, 31 points scored in any game is a winner; sadly this was not the case for the Bills yesterday. FitzPatrick and the Jets scored just a touchdown better to get the win. But knowing how it feels, I can’t help but realize that without the full participation from a healthy Sammy Watkins, yesterday’s type of loss becomes more rcognizeable. Once again, it appeared that the Bills had the weaker defense, or so it seems.
I’m still not convinced, after watching the Ravens squeek through with the win against the Bills last week, that we will have some sort of explosive win this week in Cleveland. I’m looking for much bigger and better performances by both our O and D this week if we are to be considered any sort of threat this season.
September 16, 2016 at 10:26 pm #52208caseyParticipantdictate the true game. Jets QB simply shredded a defense that everyone thought would be so strong. Our DBs were terribly exposed and Fitz looked all world. The offense was merely quick strike – no sustained drives, running game or short pass attack.
So OC Roman, a perenially respected coordinator was made the sacrficial lamb today and let go. Sorry, but the fans are smarter than this. Let’s look in Ryan’s direction – the so-called great defensive mind. This is year two and where is his stamp of genius?September 18, 2016 at 10:05 pm #52211caseyParticipantYou must have been pretty worried with the boys being down so far. But kudos to the team for coming back and winning! 2-0, how bout that?!
September 19, 2016 at 2:18 pm #52212PattiParticipantI have to admit, I was bummed out at that first quarter, but as soon as Joe began throwing downfield, completing two touchdown passes to Wallace, I knew right then and there we would come back, and we sure did. Our special teams were a huge part of the win starting with that blocked field goal being recovered and getting us on the board with Cleveland pretty much believing they had it in the bag with a 20-2 score. Fortunately, for us, nothing bothers Joe in these situations; that’s why he deserves that nickname, "Joe Cool." Justin Tucker, with three field goals of 52, 49 and 41 yards, has always been solid gold for us, and although the Browns began their home opener in style scoring 20 points in the first quarter, it was our defense who held them to that score all the way through the entire 45 minutes left in the game. I wonder if McGowan will even be able to come back for the Browns next week. He took a licking but kept on ticking, but by the end of the game he was hurting pretty bad. I have to say, I’m impressed with what I saw. We haven’t started 2-0 since 2009.
September 25, 2016 at 10:35 pm #52253caseyParticipantCongrats to us both, Patti with victories. How bout your 3-0 Ravs? And the Bills surprising everyone with a rout of the high octane Cardinals! Maybe the firing of the OC Roman really was a good idea. We shall see next week when they play the plug n play Patriots.
September 26, 2016 at 2:43 pm #52256PattiParticipantcongratulate both of us, casey, as well as the Bills’ and the Ravens’ wins! Loved our "UGLY" win yesterday, and the Bills are back, that’s for sure. That’s true about the OC’s. I absolutely respect Trestman as ours, and so, I believe, does Joe Flacco. They listen to "each other" and respect one another’s thought process throughout the game, and that makes much more sense for a successful offense. I love the decision to bring ALL of the Ravens coaches, O, D, and ST onto the field with John Harbaugh this season. The Jags had a little payback due and a "I know that feeling" sense for their loss, because that’s exactly what they did to us last season. 3-0 Ravens start ….WHOOP WHOOP! Already looking forward to next week.
P.S. Also, our O’s are right back in the hunt, with 6 games left. Will enjoy a well deserved rest today, and then going to Toronto for 3 Tue., Wed., and Thur., and then Yankees for final 3 regular games of the season Fri., Sat. and Sun., so yes, I’m a pretty excited fan this season. So far we’re right where we need to be for a wild card spot.
September 26, 2016 at 10:14 pm #52260caseyParticipantmy Red Sox so we may meet again on the diamond!
September 27, 2016 at 1:18 pm #52265PattiParticipantjust hoping the O’s get the wild card, so one step at a time right now. I am a little happy knowing the last 3 games of the regular season pits Toronto meeting up with the Red Sox in Boston, who have already clinched, so I need them NOT to ease up on the Blue Jays. Woooo….exciting times!
October 3, 2016 at 1:25 pm #52308caseyParticipantI guess the Patriots aren’t omnipotent afterall. They looked truly unprepared yesterday as the Bills dominated. Even though Brady wasn’t there, to hold them scoreless at home was a real accomplishment. A strange unpredictable season so far in the NFL – Cards and Panthers having problems, Atlanta soaring after looking awful early on, some hot young QBs on the rise like in Philly and Oakland.
Patti, sooo sorry about losing by one point! But you’ve got a big game upcoming Tuesday. Have to say I’m a bit concerned about the Red Sox losing streak following their clinch. Hope it’s not a slump.October 3, 2016 at 9:22 pm #52313PattiParticipantI was ECSTATIC when the Bills beat the Pats. As for the Ravens, well, if we can put the first half of our game to equal the second half, we might never lose again this season! Horrible first half, but we won our first three games on squeakers, so I guess it was time to lose one on a squeeker. Sorry they went for the two point conversion after the touchdown tough. Could have made a world of difference. So, I had one good win and one sad loss; the Birds clinched a wild card berth. Just sorry the Sox couldn’t come back for the win; then we would have played on our home field. As it is, we have to go to Toronto tomorrow, and I’ll be the first to admit, that scares me. Keeping the faith though! Again, congrats to the Bills win!
October 4, 2016 at 1:07 am #52314powerpaw2ParticipantPatti your Ravens beat the Jags who are now my home team since I live here, however I was in my Aaron Rodgers jersey at the Sept 11th game. (GO PACK, GO!) The Jags defense was supposed to be shored up, but again they allowed a bunch of points in merry olde England. My Pack had a bye week, so they will be good and rested for Eli and the Giants Sunday night.
