Wednesday’s show was a real snooze fest. I hope this isn’t indicative of how these new writers are going to continue. Same thing over and over and over, only using different words to convey the same sentiments…Jack, Jen, and Daniel foremost. And now same thing with the Maggie’s child storyline.
Speaking of that, how can Bo and Hope spend so much time away from their work persuing Maggie’s child and Mrs. H’s bank account. Don’t they have to work anymore? It certainly isn’t criminal activity…yet, anyway.
And, please, let me be wrong, but, did I detect something to come when Carrie hugged Rafe and then he offered to take her to the airport? It would really be a come-uppance for Sami if Carrie were to get involved with Rafe but I certainly DON’T want that to happen. Or was I seeing something that wasn’t there?
Anyway, I wish they’d start to move things along and spare us the same old conversations, ad nauseum.
October 20, 2011 at 12:42 pm #27796lynnekarenParticipantafter the HUGE buildup of excitement we are now slowly coming down from that? I find myself not paying as much attention again. Don’t get me wrong, I love the show now but I don’t know… I can’t explain. I’m looking forward to the holidays…
October 20, 2011 at 1:44 pm #27801PattiParticipantbut for now, I’m willing to take into consideration that in most instances, even though they are penned by the new writers now, these are still stories that originated with the old writers once it was revealed that John, Marlena, Carrie, Austin and Jack were coming back, which was revealed to us while we were still suffering through the Dena Higley DAYS, and the new writers had to unfortunately take on the responsibility for finishing them. From what I have read, all, or most, of the story lines we are now watching will be over and done with by year’s end, and all new story lines by the new writers will begin at that time. So, for now, I’m just happy with the fact that some of my favorites have returned, that a few more could be returning, and that the show is moving in the right direction. After this week’s scenes with Will, Sonny, Chad, Gabi and the new website, I must admit that I am now looking forward to the new story line concerning Sonny and Will, even though I believe most are not. I don’t know about anyone else, but I feel no matter how hard Will is trying to convince himself that he is in love with Gabi, and the more he hears and sees how Sonny deals with who he is, the more he (Will) will distance himself from a romantic relationship with Gabi, and I think the first one he will admit how cofused he feels will be to Marlena, which will then kick off that story line. I’ve waited a long time to return to better days. I think we have, so I’m not going to lose patience yet.
October 20, 2011 at 2:56 pm #27811MKParticipantLast week I posted similar concerns about the repeated dialog. At least before the change of writers, the conversations moved along much better. I am fast forwarding more now which doesn’t bother me too much only because it leaves me more time to watch all the other shows I record! It’s hard to keep up sometimes.
Bonbon, it did enter my mind too about Carrie and Rafe, but only for a second. I really don’t think it was meant to portray anything to come between them and I don’t think the writers will go in that direction. That would be a terrible storyline!
October 20, 2011 at 3:34 pm #27816caseyParticipantonce this John situation gets resolved and Marlena returns to work and in general SLs start showing some real meat, the show will pick up.
October 20, 2011 at 4:01 pm #2781753tdogsParticipantintentionally done by the writers as a tease…they do those kinds of things just to mess with us. I don’t think we, the fans, would ever stand for a triangle like this especially when Sami and Carrie have been at such odds for years and are now just "becoming" loving sisters again. Plus the fact that Rafe is suppose to be Sami’s calming rock after all her hectic behavior during her history on the show and Sami would "murder" all involved I’m sure. And Rafe doesn’t seem like the type, he’s like John, steady and true blue unless Stefano messes with his brain. Oh crappiola, I hope I didn’t give Stefano an idea here! Shouldda kept my mouth shut!
October 20, 2011 at 6:53 pm #27819Karen InnaParticipantRafe will be going through some hard times soon and he and Carrie will be bonding because of the sacrifices he has made to his career to help John. Sammy will get jealous. JJ and D it a total snooze. Love Maggie having a mystery child and that Victor was probably involved. Interesting. EJ for mayor not too excited other than watching EJ and Nicole together. I like Madison. She is funny with Sammy and makes Kate look pathetic. What’s not to like about Kate being pathetic. Love John and Marlena. But something about watching the actors and characters for years…you can totally predict how they will react, what they will say, and their expressions…
October 20, 2011 at 8:39 pm #27824BonbonParticipantit looks like Austin is seeing something there. Although I thought he acted like a real ass toward Rafe.
October 21, 2011 at 4:27 am #27842IzzyBParticipantHonestly I don’t see what others are seeing. I think this writing is so much better and I am enjoying all the SLs. I don’t want to start to become negative just because I am reading so much negative stuff.
The SLs can’t end in a week, they need to have a middle and I think that is what we are seeing. It is hard because they all started at the same time. But I think they will end at different times allowing us to have beginning, middles, and endings going on at the same time. Which will make it more interesting.
October 21, 2011 at 11:47 am #27845SWParticipantso much lately. I can’t wait to see where the stories go.
October 21, 2011 at 1:00 pm #27850DeeLanParticipantI agree. I think we’re jumping to conclusions that the storylines are going a certain way due to history but we’re really not given much information as to who, how and why which is good as it keeps us guessing and I’m hoping the ending to each storyline is going to be the total opposite of what we expect. As much as I like to read the spoilers I do like the not knowing every little detail which in the past you didn’t need to read as it was given to us and we had to see it over and over and over. There was no suspense just the feeling that it would never end.
October 21, 2011 at 4:36 pm #27859PattiParticipantI know that I have tried many, many times to express the same thoughts about the new writers and their stories, and I know full well that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, as are we. I’m also enjoying every minute of every story line going on right now and feel they are moving at a pace that, at the very least, still keeps me waiting for the next day. I do see some days of repetition for some story lines; but that’s what happens when a story affects so many other people; it’s what makes it an umbrella story line and we are experiencing several of those right now. Unfortunately, there are among us, and always will be among us, overly anxious, critical fans who, regardless of how hard the writers try, will always have to complain about something, make comparisons to ‘the old days’ and will never be satisfied, whether it be with a character, a story line, realism, unbelievability, or, hell, which way the wind is blowing that day. I was very glad to see you back on this board, because I find your posts to always be interesting and well thought out. Don’t let the negativity of some posts disrupt your positive ones. Your interpretive opinions are always spot-on, IMO, and I would miss reading them.
October 21, 2011 at 5:04 pm #27860BonbonParticipantbecause I said one episode was a snooze-fest? I’ve seen you criticize and complain just as much as the rest of us in the past. Just because we may have a differing view than you, that doesn’t make us "overly anxious, critical fans who, regardless of how hard the writers try, will always have to complain about something, make comparison to the ‘old days’ and will never be satisfied, whether it be with a character, a storyline, realizism, unbelievability, or, hell, which way the wind is blowing that day." Maybe you were just in a bad mood when you wrote that.
I beieve the main reason people come to this forum is to opine and read how others see things. Like a soap, it would be horribly boring if all we did was post positive things or refrain from differing views. I think your post was a slap in the face to many of us, but, since it followed my post, I will be the first to say I was greatly offended by your comments.
October 21, 2011 at 6:41 pm #27865MKParticipantBonbon, I couldn’t have said it better myself. This board is all about our opinions however different they may be. We’ve ALL criticized the show which is fair game but I don’t think posters themselves should be criticized for having a criticism about the show. And I don’t think any of us takes Days seriously when we criticize the show. That’s part of the fun of the board, seeing differing opinions and comments. We know it’s not real life, it’s entertainment, and even when I don’t like a storyline, actor, etc. and express it, I don’t get overly anxious or upset about it. We come to the board to vent and it’s all good fun. It’s fun even to complain about the show as I don’t get bothered by it. It’s just a show. It’s part of the fun. When I complain, it’s not the same kind of complaining as say, when I complain about taxes or politicians, for example. I love the show even if there’s stuff I don’t like. It’s pure escapism. I am a positive person and I am tired of certain people always complaining about others’ so-called negative posts. IMO, they are not negative, they’re expressions, comments of how we feel about the show. It’s ONLY a show! We are ALL entitled to our opinions of the soap we love.
October 21, 2011 at 8:42 pm #2786753tdogsParticipantI agree! Were it not for the preposterousness and neurosis of the Salemites, (even our favorites) why would we all even take the time to comment on them, other than for just the sheer fun of it.
I’ve always seen this site as sort of a "book club" if you will, where we, the members, comment on the nonsense or the common sense of the characters during their "Day’s" in our never ending "book". Everyone is entitled and welcome to agree or disagree, like or dislike what the characters are doing in the show or even the character themselves but with the class of not attacking the actors or anothers opinion on the postings in this forum. Just my take on things.
