we were lucky; only got about 4″ here in Maryland, but the further north you go, the worse it gets. I heard on the news Boston has 2 feet and still counting. Hope all of our New England friends are well, safe and sound.
January 3, 2014 at 2:30 pm #42186BonbonParticipantis in Ipswich, MA and they have two feet. It’s really fun watching those huge Great Danes romp in that snow. It is way up to their bellies.

if you’d like to check it out.
January 3, 2014 at 2:41 pm #42187caseyParticipantit’s a balmy one degree with 18 inches of snow. In "ski country" snow is the norm. But these vicious temps grate on you. I have some water pipe freezing as well. A weekend "warmup" coming then back to polar conditions next week.
January 3, 2014 at 3:07 pm #42188bluebonnetParticipantand have been ever since you told us about it over a year ago. Yesterday the place was beautiful–snowed all day long. They are out with plows and shovels this morning though. Can you imagine the work facing those people who work there? The dogs don’t seem to mind it a bit, though.
January 3, 2014 at 7:07 pm #42190BonbonParticipantI do remember seeing your name there. Great site, isn’t it? I just love, love, love those little puppies. There is nothing in the world cuter than puppies.
January 3, 2014 at 8:45 pm #42192bluebonnetParticipantI try so hard to keep the various pups in the litters straight, but it is hard! Seems like I always have one or two favorites in every litter. And, the people who run the place (SDP) always have interesting things going on and informative things to say. I just have to check in with them every day.
January 6, 2014 at 4:18 pm #42217MKParticipantWhere I live in Wakefield, MA, we got over 16 inches from Thursday into Friday morning. Shoveled almost 3 hours. But at least today it is raining and in the 50’s so it cleared all the packed-down snow on the roads that were badly plowed. Temps supposed to crash later today so everything will freeze and back to single digits tonight. I am so over this winter and it’s only just begun!
January 6, 2014 at 5:39 pm #42218caseyParticipantthis week’s weather is brutal – expecting single digits and record breaking wind chills. Not to mention tons of snow. At least it’s not supposed to linger and by the weekend above normal. That’s been the pattern for the past few weeks here.
January 6, 2014 at 6:08 pm #42219jma6512ParticipantMinus 17 degrees with a minus 39 windchill. It has warmed up 7 degrees
Minnesota is in the middle of the deep freeze
May get above zero by Wednesday

January 6, 2014 at 6:38 pm #42220MKParticipantMy mother keeps telling me that it could be worse and that is so true. At least we haven’t had an ice storm or a blizzard (yet). I am trying to stay positive but we’re barely a couple weeks into winter and already it’s been a doozy. My birthday is this Thursday and so far they’re saying it’s going to be in the 20’s (woo hoo! A big warm up compared to what tomorrow’s going to be). Initially they said the "S" word but now they’re saying any light snow will be on Friday but no real accumulation to speak of (hope that’s true!). I have a lot of b-day plans for the weekend, so I hope it is a good one. Casey, if memory serves, you live in NH?
January 6, 2014 at 6:49 pm #42221MKParticipantNever mind, Casey, just saw your post that you’re in NY!
January 7, 2014 at 3:38 am #42228PattiParticipanthere in Baltimore, with wind gusting to 37mph. I can hear it through my windows and it sounds bone-chilling. I feel so sorry for the homeless tonight. Hope the shelters are staying open for them.
