Did Daniel really deserve a funeral like this? I have always been indifferent to him, but they are treating Daniel like he was a legendary character on the show and I just don’t see him as one. I realize some people might disagree, but it’s just my opinion, that’s all.
he is now purported to be, but I didn’t hate him like a lot of people on the boards did. However, your opinion is exactly that, yours, and you are entitled to it. As far as Daniel’s death, I completely agree that it was overdone. Eric’s memorial to Daniel in the HTS was OTT, but I can understand that he is remorseful and blames himself, but Daniel died almost a month ago, and they are just now putting him to rest. We didn’t see the actual funeral, only the reception; but, I will admit, the good Dr. Jonas has been sanctified, idolized, and memorialized to death (pun intended). I mean this kind of attention wasn’t even given to Bo or to Will or to anyone else who died during the 50th anniversary sls that I can think of, and the iconic Stefano DiMera seems to have been blown to bits. So, I agree, it’s defenitely time to let Daniel go, but I doubt we will see that happen so long as Brady has Dan’s heart in his body.
…that little Parker is a dynamite little actor. I think we saw it in the Subaru commercial, but if he cried those tears naturally, he’s a winner! What a sweetie! And Chloe just glows – you can tell she’s PG – they didn’t show a lot of body shots, but she has always been so beautiful – she and Nicole compliment each other so well – the blond and the brunette – then you through Mel in as the red head – powerhouse trio!
an 8-month pregnant Nicole on top of his desk, all while helping Rafe to hide her kid from E.J. Then there’s that time when he screwed Lucas over big-time by cheating with Chloe, knowing she was going to marry Lucas? Maybe even his almost tryst with Kristen when he knew how much Brady was in love with her….to name a few???? I actually liked Daniel, but it’s funny how some people just remember what they want to remember.
The only thing that bothered me was that Bo’s funeral was not given nearly the same level of detail and he was on the show wayyyy longer than Daniel. That being said, what a tearjerker yesterdays’ episode was! Maybe because I have a son Parker’s age, but every time he was on, I lost it! I thought everyone did a great job of making their grief look genuine.
I thought Roman was out of line for suggesting that everyone would welcome Eric at the memorial and that they’d want him there. It’s too soon. Yes, Eric is a good person who made a horrific mistake and Daniel was his good friend, but he needs to give people time. He is the reason they are all grieving and right now he’s the last person they want to see. I’m sure in time he will be forgiven, but for pete’s sake they just buried the man! He should not be showing up at Nicole’s door!
I was thinking the same thing. Bo did not get this type of send off nor did Will. I don’t get the point of deifying Daniel in this way. He was ok but in no way a legacy character. I found this big fuss odd.
they FLEW through everything about the SK storyline, never gave anyone what they deserved and now have slowed every thing down to the point that it took a month to bury Daniel.
But I think (ignoring the fact it’s a month late) Daniels funeral was fitting. The shrine was Eric’s doing, that was a bit OTT, but maybe no different than the side of the highway memorials you see. (Maybe he should have put it where the crash was. Too soon?
) Anyway, I was a Daniel fan so maybe I see it differently.when Daniel and Chelsea were an item even though she was so much younger. She broke up with him when she found out he had slept with her grandmother, Kate. EWWW all the way around!
I didn’t feel that the memrial was OTT. It seems like memorials always occur after a tragedy like this. I do agree it could have been at the site of the accident. As for the funeral, ther really wasn’t one. All we saw was the reception and I don’t think it was anything special.
Actually we saw more of a funeral for Paige than for any of the long time characters. I realize it was a mon ago, but not in Salem time! So it was ok for me.
Despite the "ladies man" rep that Daniel had, he did save a lot of people –starting with BO, then Johnny, Kate, Jennifer. He was bascially yhe all around doctor for Salem!
he was cremated. It made Nicole flinch when Maggie told her is was Daniel’s wish to be cremated.
But, as to the tears, I cried through the entire episode yesterday. I’d just dry up and something else would happen and they’d start again. I ended up just letting them fall until the show was over, then I dried them up and blew my drippy nose.
