as a corporate woman story. If you read the description of an Exectuive Assitant, it’s fairly general. Sounds exactly like what I did AS A SECRETARY. Yet now, 2 days into the work week she’s gonna be heading a project?
Maybe it’s because I don’t really like the Sami character. She’s so spazzy & hyper & is never with her kids. Before the story line change she ran screaming from the room from Rafe for a reason that now escapes me. What 30+ year old does that?!? I’m her age (at least I’m guessing she’s 37 on the show) and she seems at LEAST 10 years less mature than that.
Anyway, that’s JMO. Not a fan of her…
October 19, 2011 at 2:32 am #27732caseyParticipantMadison giving Sami the launch on this project is she wants the satisfaction of Kate to get the news from arch enemy Sami. Plus, when another thread listed Sami’s former positions, I had to admit she’d had more experience than I had remembered.
I’ve always run hot and cold with Sami, but maybe this SL is the new writers’ efforts to get her away from the countless who’s the daddy and how do I extract revenge on him diet we’ve been served for so long.
Time will tell as to how this plays out.October 19, 2011 at 3:11 am #27733DeeLanParticipantRight. I do remember her working at Titan at one time and she did work with Austin. Of course for someone with only a high school education she does seem to land in the great corporate jobs when she does decide to go out and work.
October 19, 2011 at 3:44 am #27734shadowParticipantShe drives me nuts. I have never liked her – she goes over board way too much. She acts like she is so crazy about her kids, but I don’t think she really wants to take care of them. Heaven knows, she sends them to Caroline’s ever chance she gets. She is not qualified to have the position she has been given. I thought Madison was smarter than that.

October 19, 2011 at 3:48 am #27737shadowParticipantI can’t get the "new" to appear on the post.
October 19, 2011 at 12:12 pm #27738PattiParticipantbut I think the writers are trying to move her in the right direction. She seems to have a loving husband whom she adores as well, she DOES have her kids with her much more than she has; and, in all fairness to Sami, if she’s going to be a working mom, it is obvious that she would have to either put them in daycare, in pre-k, or left with a babysitter. I admit, I like Sami …. I just don’t care for the way they portrayed her yesterday. Who doesn’t know their kids don’t have school on a particular day. That’s why they have calendars that moms put on the fridge that give you dates schools are closed, excluding inclement weather days. From picking up the toys and then dumping them on the stove to make coffee, to the forced child background noise throughout the scenes, to that damn forced laugh of hers, which I wish she would quit doing, it just made Sami look like a total screw-up, which I’m sure there are those who will always think of her that way. All that, plus she is, what, 2 days into this job and Madison hangs a project manager position on her where she’ll have to deal directly with Kate. I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m thinking that one might be fun. Sami was never, ever afraid to stand up to Kate, and I’d welcome a little bit of bad, snarky Sami vs. Kate back, because as relentless as Kate can be, Sami has no problems giving back what she gets. The absolute one thing I DO NOT want to see is problems developing between her and Carrie or Carrie and Austin, or Austin and Rafe, and mostly Sami and Rafe due to Carrie and Austin being on different sides of the fence where John is concerned …… but, it sure looks to me after yesterday like that’s what’s coming our way.
October 19, 2011 at 1:46 pm #27743MKParticipantThis answers the question I was going to post on how Sami qualifies for this executive position. I, too, didn’t remember of her past experience. Even so, watching Madison and Sami in yesterday’s show just registered as unbelievable to me. Unbelievable that a very prominent, successful businesswoman such as Madison would hire Sami for an executive level position. Even if Sami does have some prior experience for this position, she is too hot-headed and rash in her decision making. I just can’t see her in this storyline but am willing to give it a chance.
October 19, 2011 at 2:35 pm #27744lynnekarenParticipantalthough the Executive is just a fancy title.
October 19, 2011 at 2:37 pm #27745lynnekarenParticipantthat’s always a good thing jk
October 19, 2011 at 2:39 pm #27746lynnekarenParticipantI think she will be ok. He is the ONLY person that can calm her down, make her listen/rationalize normally & give her her ADHD meds. <— that was a joke
October 19, 2011 at 3:56 pm #27747justwonderingParticipantI found the situation completely believable. Sami has been a stay at home mom for a long time, days off from school were no big deal. Just getting this job has made her nervous besides she was never a fanatic house cleaner or organizer. Since she was so worried about making an impression on her boss it is understandable that she got disorganized.
I thought Madison handled that situation with a lot of class. Since she doesn’t have children, she could have been judgmental but she was gracious and calming. As for Sami being promoted, I think Madison did this because she knows how Kate feels about Sami and this would rattle Kate more coming from Sami.
Getting a full time job after being home for so long is a big step for Sami. It is nice that they show the down side like babysitting problems. Face it most people do all this with no help, nannies, cleaning lady, etc. I like the realism.
October 19, 2011 at 4:05 pm #27748MKParticipantFor me, the unbelievability comes from Sami just being Sami, not from her being a little disorganized and juggling her kids and everyday life stuff. That did add realism to it but for me that’s not the problem. It has more to do with her qualifications and her overall temperament. I just can’t see her in an executive position. She’s too immature.
October 19, 2011 at 4:07 pm #2774953tdogsParticipantsame exact thing about Sami. Sami was one of the main reasons I boycotted the show for three months this summer, (after twenty years of never-ever missing the show).
I thought she was doing a bit better at first glance. However, I thought perhaps it was because I had "detoxed" from Sami and now had a bit more tolerance for her manic off the wall way she sees and reacts to the world around her. Not the case, but I suppose the writers had to do something to move this diva’s story line along. (And just to be perfectly clear, I am speaking of the character, NOT Allison Sweeney who has had the gonads to stick with this craziness over the years, no matter how ridiculous and outrageous her character has become and became.)
After all, she’s been there done that in just about every senerio of life one can come up with except be a Hell’s Angel. And show said she is only born in 1977 making her 34 yet, I think for all her craziness and given Will’s age, she has to be at least 37, 38 now.
I get a headache trying to remember all of Sami’s misdeeds and crimes and what she has "accomplished" on my own so I cut and pasted from SoapCentral her little "adventures" : Various other lies and misdeeds, Kidnapped her baby sister, Belle, Changed paternity test results on Belle, Drugged and raped Austin, Blackmailed Kate, Stole Austin’s car (twice), Shot Alan Harris and castrated him to avenge her rape, Lied about paternity of Will, Lied about Lucas abusing Will, Charged, convicted, sentenced for murder of fiancé Franco Kelly (lethal injection), Pulled a gun on Kate and Lucas to get them to tell the truth about killing Franco, Fleeing the police with ex-husband Austin, Blackmailed Victor into transferring Austin to Hawaii, Seduced a mailman in order to steal the package with the tape (mail fraud), Broke into Victor’s desk to get the tape of her confession, Tampered with the results of Lexie’s paternity test for Theo, Blackmailed Lexie into telling Carrie that any children she had with Austin would have genetic defects, Helped sneak fugitive EJ passed a police road block and out of Salem (December 2006), Custodial interference- lied about Grace being adopted using forged birth certificates and adoption papers (February 2009), Shot E.J. in the head (September 2010), Assault- threw Arianna her into a table (October 2010), Obstruction of Justice- provided false information to police pertaining to E.J.’s shooting and Arianna’s hit-and-run (October 2010), Breaking and entering- broke into Arianna’s appartment to search for a video camera (October 2010), Assault- pushed Nicole into the side of the counter, knocking her unconscious on the floor(November 2010), Held Imposter Rafe captive in an adandoned building (May – June 2011)
If it were anyone else, Sami would be locked away in Gitmo. Isn’t she just such a fun person?
