that Maggie has either put on a lot of weight or it was just well hidden before. I noticed how big her stomach was and then her neck and face also. And I think Marlena’s face shows some weight gain too. I know it’s hard when you get older but these ladies make their livings looking attractive and I think they take a couple pounds off.
Of course I’ve felt that way about Victor and Stefano for a long time. They just look so uncomfortable.
And there’s no need to come back at me and hit me over the head about this…it’s just my opinion. I don’t think they look as good as they did (or could).
What I noticed right away was she darkened her hair. I liked it better when it was lighter.
I noticed that Maggie and Marlena were a little heavier, but it happens as a person ages. That said, they both look great for their age.
a rare muscle disorder called Myasthenia Gravis. Her medication affects her facial muscles and at times makes her feel ill and her face appears swollen. She was forced to quit the show after 11 years when the effects of the disease became increasingly worse. Her entire appearance changed, and she did not return to the show for a year. When her health improved Suzanne returned to DAYS. Rogers, wanting to educate viewers about the disease, confronted executive producer Betty Corday about her character being diagnosed with the disease. Corday agreed, and a storyline played out with Maggie learning she has Myasthenia Gravis. I think she may be having a set-back, because she does appear to have gained weight.
Marlena has always been a little heavier than Kate and other woman her age on the show. She does carry it well though and she dresses appropriately. Sami on the other hand had no business wearing horizontal stripes! Not flattering at all. I do think Suzanne Rogers has put on a few but that might be the illness as others have pointed out.
Suzanne Rogers has been on and off steroids for her MG and that will cause weight gain and moon face or a puffy/round faced appearance.
of her MG. I don’t know what is causing it (weight gain), I just remarked that she looked heaver and not the Maggie we are used to seeing. Through the years, even after her diagnosis, she has always looked amazing. And she has stated she has her disease well under control.
Dr. Oz had an interesting segment on his program the other day and one question was whether we gain weight as we age. It was a myth. We gain because our metabolism slows down as we get older and don’t burn as many calories so, unless you do something to combat that (more exercise, less carories) it will happen. I’m not blaming them for it…again, I was just making an observation with both Marlena and Susanne.
as DeeLan did above, that it could very well be that she is having another bout with her MG, and the sudden weight gain could likely be the side affect of her meds.
