the idea of Gabi and JJ – VERY cute!!!
I also hate……….. the idea of Stefano wanting Hope dead. I know I said it on another thread but I don’t believe Stefano would want his Hope/Gina to be murdered. I don’t buy it!
I liked………… the celebration kick off today but as per the other threads, wow, the clothes were either GREAT (Brady, Daniel) or terrible (most of the women.) Hope’s hair def. takes the cake. AWFUL lol. Lucas, IMO, looked the sharpest!!!
November 3, 2015 at 4:27 am #49352justwonderingParticipantI really hated all the hairdos on the women! Jen’s hair lookes really dumb but Kates took the cake!
Adrienne’s real hair is much nicer.
Hope hair and make up reminded me aof Rachel Cory from Another World! At first glance she looked so much like her!
What was with Nicole and the nerd glasses?
Daniel, Eric, Justin looked good! Loved Brady’s coat – it looked like it was from Gone with the Wind.
Didn’t care for Theresa’s hair and not a fan of Caroline’s dress. I know it was a bicentential theme but Nicole looked like the 60s!
November 3, 2015 at 12:05 pm #49353dvalParticipantThat was the theme since "salem" was founded in 1965. Remember Daniel had that patchwork leather jacket and Nicole said there was more to 60’s fashion than wide legged pants and fringe or words to that effect.

November 3, 2015 at 2:34 pm #49358BonbonParticipantthe whole thing. I thought Adrienne’s hair was absolutely the worst but followed closely behind by Theresa’s and all the others. Jen and Caroline’s make-up looked like they hadn’t washed their Halloween make-up off their faces yet. So horribly, horribly, horrible, I don’t know any other words that would describe the whole mess.
Some of the dresses were okay but all-in-all it was just plain horrendous. Nicole’s was nice but not for a gala. She looked more like office wear…kinda Ad Men look. I was around for the 60s and I did NOT dress like that nor did I wear my hair like that, even when it was all gussied up. Yes, it was similar but they were so over the top as to be cartoonish. They really missed the boat there, it could have been done very nicely and elegant but instead, it was laughable.
And Hope’s wedding dress? I liked the one in Aiden’s fantasy much better although this one was very pretty too.
November 3, 2015 at 2:47 pm #49360caseyParticipantabout Daniel’s comments so the connection between the theme and the soap anniversary didn’t immediately strike me. At any rate, wardrobe and hair failed miserably, to the point of comic relief. I didn’t though, dislike Theresa’s dress as much as others. Poor Judi Evans – wondered how she felt about that upflip do? I didn’t even recognize her!
You and me both Bonbon were walking the earth(along with the dinosaurs!) during that memorable decade.November 3, 2015 at 3:24 pm #49363piewomanParticipantI think the dressing and makeup are spot-on! Teased and curled and heavy bangs and sprayed, sprayed, sprayed. I love the attention to detail they’re giving. Some are over the top, yes, but would you all like it better if they came in tye-dyed, bell-bottoms and long straight hair (guys and girls)? Not everyone dressed like flower children in the 60’s and 70’s – the mode of fashion and beauty the show is reflecting is very accurate! They may not be the most attractive looks on the women, but as a child of the 60’s, I think they’ve hit the target!
November 3, 2015 at 3:47 pm #49365justwonderingParticipantBicentennial means 200 hundred years. Salem was therefore founded in 1815 ni 1965.
I guess they decided to do the 60s cause Days is 50 years old.
That being said, Lani’s outfit was closest to 60s but not too fromal. Gabi looked great. Marlena looked good, but dress not really 60s.

After looking at thesse sites, I get the hairi dos!
I was in high school and mainly wore fluffy dresses and jeans!
November 4, 2015 at 1:19 am #49368dvalParticipantRight about bicentennial. My bad…confusing days with salem.
November 4, 2015 at 3:06 pm #49371BonbonParticipantThe Astronauts Wives, I though they came really close to the actual styles, hair and dress for the 60s. The only fault I had with that one was they were usually dressed too nicely for everyday wear at home. We wore more like capris and shirts during the day, not the dresses they portrayed. But the hair was spot on.
Yes, tie-dye and love beads were popular but were only a small part of the customs in the 60s. And I don’t think the “big hair” like they showed on the show (which was waaaay too exaggerated) really came into popularity until the 70s. The 60s were more like The Beach Boys, Annette Funicello, Bandstand, etc.
