Sydney! Sorry, but that child looks either bored or scared in every show she’s in. When Nicole talked about how much fun she had with Sydney, etc. it must have been hard as that child showed no reaction whatsoever! She looked more like she was staring at someone off stage! Maybe it’s after having the little girl that originally was Sydney and then the boys playing Johnny who are also great, this child just isn’t believable in the story and makes it hard to suspend the belief of them being a ‘family.’ Anyone else agree/disagree?
March 30, 2011 at 11:30 am #22285NoraParticipantI agree but yesterday i did think i saw a tiny smile from her. but she was looking right past Nicole. probably looking at someone offstage. but yes i wish she would show ANY emotion at all!
March 30, 2011 at 11:51 am #22286PattiParticipantand I wonder how many times Ari and James have to practically stand on their heads to even hope that this child will look at them let alone show any emotion. Must be difficult for the actors portraying her family when all she does is stare off-stage. Once in a while she looks into Ari’s eyes, but it’s like she’s staring at a blank wall while Ari is doing everything imaginable to make her produce even the hint of a smile. Doesn’t do much for the child’s career at all, IMO.

The director should figure out how to make it work with these little girls. I just wonder how the original Sydneys would do if they were brought back. Didn’t TPTB replace them because they wanted an older child?

Awfully cute and beautiful child, but this is acting – they could put a wooden stick paint a smile on with some curls on top and get more of a reaction. I’m sorry I know that is harsh but the little girl is distracting from the story in every scene. Heck – they could dress up the other twin "Johnny" as a little girl and he’d do a bang-up job playing Sydney while the other twin plays Johnny.
March 31, 2011 at 3:27 pm #22322mommytutuParticipantuntil Johnny’s surgery then I thought, that little girl has a real personality and can act. But by then, the writers sent her to Japan. I think it just takes some kids a little longer to get comfortable in front of the camera. The two boys who play Johnny are naturals! They completely control the scenes they are in and I love watching them.
March 31, 2011 at 6:01 pm #22327Karen InnaParticipantI agree to a point. But, I put myself in Sydney’s shoes, what would I be like if I had been born into such a mess. All the fighting and kidnapping, I’d be totalling withdrawn. So in a way she is realistic

April 1, 2011 at 2:49 am #22358PunkyParticipantyou have a point but I’m just glad she is on screen at all. So many times people have kids that are never seen because they are always in the other room or at Grandma’s etc.. I think replacing the original Sydney was a big mistake in general. What purpose does having her be older serve? She has no lines. Also the original babies adored Ari and recognized and responded to other cast members. So logically as they got older they would continue to be comfortable. Perhaps if the new Sydney could just smile more…
April 1, 2011 at 9:14 am #22363SWParticipantis that why they can’t find a child that would connect with Nicole/EJ/Sami? I have not seen this little actress make any type of connection with any of these actors. I could understand Sydney not showing emotion with one of the 3 but she shows nothing with any of them. I can’t believe they can’t find a child that wouldn’t show more of reaction than she does.
April 1, 2011 at 11:46 am #22364BonbonParticipantthe child labor laws limit the hours they may spend on screen. By using twins, they can double that amount. I don’t know what age that no longer applies because the current Ciera and Theo are not twins.
April 1, 2011 at 7:43 pm #22375SWParticipantwas is it too hard to find girl twins that can act at least like they like either Nicole/EJ/or Sami?
April 1, 2011 at 8:18 pm #2237753tdogsParticipantgot to be a lot of Hollywood Moms out there that would like to get their twins in show business. The twins that they have now are cute as buttons but cannot act at all.
