It sure is different. And again, keeps him away from Sami. I think they’d completely moved away from the Sami thing with the destruction they’ve done to that relationship. Say what you want about EJ/SAMI but their sexual chemistry is through the roof. He loves her for WHO she is and ACCEPTS her for who she is. I always felt Rafe wanted her to be someone else…
Off track lol… Rafe n Kate are different for sure, we haven’t seen the older man/younger woman bit in a while. I’m for it for the sake of being different. Just like I’m for Nicole/Eric as well – her first true love, his first "ya know." Why not?!? What are we to do with Hope though? I hate a "hope" without a "bo" but I also hate seeing her WITHOUT Bo…. I would’ve been happier had they both left. I think I can digest that better then her running around Salem. OR at the very least, make her in charge of Salem PD and give her a full fledged career.
February 19, 2013 at 1:42 am #37957luckeyParticipantwe haven’t see the younger man/older woman thing in awhile because Rafe is certainly younger than Kate. As for EJ/SAMI, EJ may accept Sami for who she is; but, Sami surely does not accept EJ for who he really is. She’s fooling herself seeing only what she wants to see and what EJ wants her to see. A leopard does not change its spots and EJ is definitely a leopard!
February 19, 2013 at 4:05 am #37959justwonderingParticipantluckey, Thanks for seeing EJ for what he is. I compared him to a snake, even though he sheds his skin but doesn’t change who he is. My problem with EJ and Sami is that Sami keeps telling herself that EJ has changed. So she doesn’t love him for him, but the man she wants him to be. I don’t think he can change and I think that the true EJ will return when his father comes back. I feel that he needs his father’s approval more than Sami.
I also think that EJ feels that he can manipulate Sami whenever he wants. He likes her going a crazy cause it keeps her in trouble so he can be the hero.
February 19, 2013 at 8:37 am #37961BonbonParticipantthe younger man, older woman on the show with one exception. Justin and Angeleca Devereaux. That one was kind of nauseating also.
And we did have what everybody complained about when Daniel was "seeing" Chelsea because she was too young. But people seem to be much more willing to accept that scenerio than when the woman is older than the man.
In addition to the age difference with Kate and Rafe, I just can’t accept the characters havingany attraction toward each other. It just came out of nowhere with nothing to bas it on. It would be like Maggie and Chad getting together. Or Hope and Sonny.
February 19, 2013 at 1:32 pm #37963caseyParticipantabout age difference w/R&K, only that they are “strange bedfellows!” Probably because Kate looks terrif for her age and Rafe isn’t all that young – supposed to be 40ish or so? Now Chad and Mags – boy that would be one to raise eyebrows over!
February 19, 2013 at 2:13 pm #37966justwonderingParticipantWait a minute. What about Kristen and Brady. Isn’t that a younger man and older woman? Kristen was almost married to John, who is Brady’s father. Also she is old enough to be EJ’s mother , so she is definitely old enough to be his "mom".
As for Rafe and Kate, I thought that it would be wierd, but I really don’t mind them together at all.
February 19, 2013 at 2:48 pm #37968luckeyParticipantrealizing that his tough, arrogant, controlling demeanor didn’t work, so he went for the quiet, silent, gentle, supportive demeanor and Sami melted at his feet…just what he knew would happen. As long as a man caters to Sami in every way and never crosses her, she’ll be his lapdog. EJ will play the role until he has her reeled in up to her eye balls. When it all comes apart…and it will…she’ll go into one of her crying pity parties wondering how this could have happened to her….AGAIN!
February 19, 2013 at 11:59 pm #37984TFlo1018ParticipantI feel that EJ really wants to be good and Sami brings out the good IN HIM (for her and their kids.) Sami, while no saint either, is a flawed heroine (she’s not the Sami of the late 90s’.) Her character has come a long way and EJ see’s her just for that. Rafe wanted her to be Carrie (or Carrie ish before Carrie was back in Salem.) That’s NOT who she is. I was anti Rafe Sami since day 1. I loved her with Lucas but they did always seem more BFF then coupleish. I also liked her with Brandon though that relationship wasn’t much to speak of. And it was more physical in my opinion.
But yes Luckey I meant older woman/younger man – my bad with the typo. It’s different. And eew, when I think about Daniel/Chelsea. I don’t think I have an easier time digesting it when the woman is older. It’s just that in the case of Daniel and Chelsea he was a grown man and she was a VERY young lady. If he was 50 and she was 30, FINE. But he was 30’s and she was late teens/VERY early 20s. GROSS!!!
I guess i’m okay with Rafe n Kate b/c it IS so out of left field. Heck, it was different and caught us all by surprise right? LOL
February 20, 2013 at 2:09 pm #37994MKParticipantI was one of the few who posted last week that I was not bothered by Rafe and Kate. It adds something different to the show, something we’d never expect. I thought it would bother me but it didn’t at all. I actually enjoyed it much to my surprise!
And I agree with you about Daniel/Chelsea. I’m all for people getting together of different ages but that one was icky. She looked like jail bait and he looked like a perv.
February 20, 2013 at 3:25 pm #37995PattiParticipantthis post, especially the Rafe/Carrie issues. I am sick of Carrie being the good witch, and I would be happy if for once Sami’s family would put themselves in her shoes and base their opinions on how Sami has been overshadowed by Carrie for most of her life. I never, ever, ever, in forever liked Carrie for this reason, and have royally gotten pi$$ed at Marlena and Roman for the same reasons. Then the writers put this forbidden love story between Rafe and Carrie together, and people thought it was soooo great because it was "pure" Rafe and "pure" Carrie, and well, I think that’s when my feelings for Rafe went down the tubes. I no longer look at Rafe as the winner because he’s free of Sami, because that’s not the way he truly feels anyway, but …….. it’s the way I feel, so now for him and Kate to enter into this illicit interlude is just fine with me (it wasn’t at first, but it is now), because like someone posted somewhere, Lauren Koslow still looks great, and she may be 60, but GG is in his 40’s, so you know what they say about "if it looks/feels good ……" I say go for it Kate and get it while you can, cause I have a feeling it will all be coming to an end once Stefano gets back anyway. Plus, I love Kate’s and Rafe’s protection of Will and Gabi, and coming together on their opininos of Nick. I think I’m going to really enjoy that "interference" in this baby storyline —- anything to get Nick’s story moving. Plus, LK and GG work really well together and I enjoy their looks and inuendos while they try to stay on track. This whole decision brought life back into GG’s acting as far as I’m concerned, sort of like it did when he was R-2. Rafe Hernandez, on his own, is very boring 99 44/100% of the time.
February 20, 2013 at 4:55 pm #37996layseaParticipantDidn’t Kate have an affair with Daniel and EJ? Is that right?
February 20, 2013 at 5:29 pm #37998luckeyParticipantgot together with Rafe.
February 20, 2013 at 5:31 pm #37999PattiParticipantEOM!
February 20, 2013 at 5:53 pm #38001BonbonParticipant"illicit interlude." Neither of them are married or even involved with anybody so what makes it illicit? Just wondering. I don’t think we could even call it immoral with all the bedding out of wedlock the people of Salem do.
I guess I’m just in the minority or else it’s my intenst dislike of Kate (notice I did not say "hate") that I oppose this pairing. Knowing Kate and her past (and I don’t mean just the prostitution) it’s hard for me to believe Rafe would have anything to do with her. I’m anxious to find out the different opinions around town when it comes out. I imagine Sami will go beyond ballistic…if that’s possible.
February 20, 2013 at 6:07 pm #38002MKParticipantYou made me really laugh, Bonbon, over the last line you wrote! It is not possible that Sami will go beyond ballistic; it is entirely PROBABLE that she will. I’m just picturing her now! LOL
