Firstly, I’ve been weepy watching since Mickey died. For a character we really haven’t seen in years (I don’t count the fauxMickeys), I can’t believe how moved I am at the character’s passing.
The acting on everyone’s part has been phenomenal. Suzanne Rogers has been nothing short of amazing. While it’s a crappy story for the character, I LOVE that Suzanne is getting to showcase her talent.
We’re seeing a much more mature side of Melanie, at least how she’s relating to Maggie. When she stood there stroking Maggie’s hair, I was bawling.
I haven’t really been emotional about anything I’ve seen on Days in a very, very long time, but this one has me. I’m bummed that they didn’t show the funeral… but given the real-life logistics and such, I can understand that. I started watching the episode from that day but I was dozing off (I watched a few eps in the wee hours this morning when I was battling insomnia) so I need to go back and watch that whole episode again when I’m awake, but I found it to be very poignant.
And this might shock, surprise, annoy or infuriate some of you – but I’m actually sort of enjoying the whole Hope/Bo/Carly triangle. In many ways I can understand it. AND – soaps are about sordid trysts, divided loyalties and moral faux-pas, so it’s a typical scenario.
I’m not even sure I want Bo and Hope back together again (GASP!) The way they’ve been written in recent years, they’ve become stagnant and boring to me. Never thought I’d hear those words come out of my mouth/keyboard, but it’s always the same old crap with them.
I don’t think Bo and Carly should wind up together – because the "rebound person" doesn’t usually end up with the happy-ever-after in real life, but in many ways I think that what’s going on now, does imitate many real-life situations. It’s a hell of a lot more believable than some of the sci-fi crap they’ve thrown at us over the years.
Hope has pushed Bo away so much, that it was bound to happen – if not with Carly, with somebody else. Carly is a bit of a plot device, but I think Bo’s reaction to seek comfort elsewhere is quite normal. And now he’s stuck in between – he still feels an obligation to Hope, but at the same time, he’s had it with her crap, and wants to move on. I get that. Bo was vulnerable, Carly was right there to take advantage. Happens every day in the real world.
I liked Bo and Carly back in the day (before RKK), when Hope was believed to be dead. At first I thought maybe Carly was really Hope (a la Roman/face change etc). I liked them together then. Not so much now, mainly because of the way they’ve "come back together", but given all the circumstances, I can see how it was somehow inevitable. Carly did not manipulate or drug Bo (a la Billie)… she did want him and made that clear, but she really didn’t intend to lure him away – or at least that’s how I’m seeing it. She opened the door. Bo simply walked through it, and that was HIS choice. If he was so in love with Hope still, there wouldn’t have been an option for him – he’d have opted to stay away, but he didn’t. He caved in to the temptation. He can’t blame anyone or anything else this time.
And Hope can’t blame anybody either. She moved out, she kept playing head games with Bo, kept jerking him around and couldn’t make up her mind. Yes, legally they are still married, but IMO she checked out of the marriage before he did. Just because she didn’t sleep with Justin or anybody else, doesn’t mean she’s innocent. She wanted to hurt Bo’s feelings, and she ripped Ciara out of her home to do it, and she wanted to draw it out and make him suffer, and he turned the tables on her and moved on. You can’t mess with peoples’ feelings forever. If Hope really wanted to patch things up, she would have at least moved back home. She didn’t – even after she knew Carly was back in town.
So there… flame away My opinions even surprise me

No we don’t like Bo and Hope apart – but they have become not fun to watch – I don’t think I want them apart forever, because I’d like one couple to just be in love for the fairy tale happy ending we all grew up with.
I like Carly, (don’t care for the story line of Bo and her at all now though). I’m not sure why there has to be a triangle all the darn time. There are other ways in a story line to give this couple some oooomph in their daily lives.
