What did you guys think of JEnn’s Date dress? That sleevless polka-dot dress. I thought she looked pretty good. much better than she has been dressing. I hate them dressing people like her, Carly, Kayla all frumpy and just bad outfits. I love Caroline’s look, she dresses pretty hip for a great grandma. her hair is nice all the time too, like Juiies.
May 7, 2011 at 4:52 pm #23471majencoParticipantI wasn’t too crazy about the dress or her date look although it’s an improvement over what they have been having her wear the last few weeks. Also, Daniel’s wine glasses are driving me nuts! They look like dessert cups!
May 7, 2011 at 9:52 pm #23474BonbonParticipantit looked really cute on her. But I also hated the wine glasses. The only wine glasses I’ll drink out of are CLEAR! And, I’m very fussy, they have to be extremely thin. I have a friend who has cut glass wine glasses and I hate drinking out of them. Almost to the point of passing up the wine…almost, I said. Don’t be ridiculous!
That probably came from when I was only about five-years old and I wouldn’t drink milk. My mom’s best friend gave me this beautiful footed, extremely thin, pink glass that was only for my milk. And believe it or not, it actually tasted pretty good out of it. I know, I know…weird!
What do you think is wrong with Jen? I’m guessing allergy to shrimp. Although if you are going to someone’s house for a meal and you’re allergic to something, you really ought to let them know. But I’m sure Daniel has an Epi-Pen in his doctor’s bag. BTW, do any of you know a doctor who still carries around a bag anymore?
May 7, 2011 at 11:04 pm #23476DeeLanParticipantIf you’ve never had a certain food you don’t know you’re allergic.
A bunch of us (8 Respiratory Therapists) went to Benihana’s a Japanese restaurant in Chicago where they cook the food in front of you. One girl in our group started complaining that her lips were tingling. She looked fine so we went on with our meal. When she continued to complain another girl gave her a Benadryl and another gave her a prescription allergy med. We kept on eating, talking and laughing and then she was complaining her throat was sore. She went out to get some fresh air and we still kept eating, talking and laughing. When dessert arrived she was in the bathroom and a couple of us went in and she was one huge welt. We decided we’d better get out of there and take her to the closest ER where she spent the night on IV steroids.
Found out later she had a shrimp allergy and the fried rice appetizer had shrimp in it. She’d never had shrimp before but did say she tasted a little of her husband’s the last time they were there and her lips itched later that evening but never thought it was the shrimp that caused it.
May 8, 2011 at 10:58 am #23481BonbonParticipantbut don’t you think at Jen’s age, she would know by now? How old was that girl and how strange she’d never had shrimp before. It’s not exactly an uncommon food. Now escargot or raw oysters I could understand.
I was surprised that it would happen that quickly but from what you said about this girl, I guess it does. However, I was camping a long time ago when a young boy got stung by a bee, but he knew he was allergic and his mom carried a hypo for him (before Epi-Pens). Only she said she couldn’t do it, so I grabbed tne needle and shoved it in his arm before she even knew what was happening, no alcohol swab or anything. Of course I was the hero then. :o) To this day (he’s now 50), he still thanks me for "saving his life." Anyway, he hadn’t started reacting yet after about 5 minutes, but maybe he would have in the next couple.

I thought it was so cute that she had to ask Abbey to help her pick out what she was going to wear, and then asked her advice on the earrings. Finally, Abbey giving Jen her own earrings to wear, and Jen’s comments about not wanting to be too "hip" and wanting to "look her age" was a delightful scene between mother and daughter. I could certainly relate to the fact that it’s hard to get back into the dating game when you’ve been with one man for so long, so I could totally understand Jen’s sort of nervous yet giddy way to seeking Abbey’s approval as to whether or not she looked okay. Very sweet in a sense where the mom became the teen, while the teen became the mom. Loved it.
May 8, 2011 at 2:07 pm #23489mommytutuParticipantMissy is about my age and that was definitely a dress I would wear, so I absolutely loved it. So much better than the frumpy, ugly colored clothing they’ve had her in. I especially hate the ugly polyester pants they’ve had her wearing–yuck! I wouldn’t wear any of it.
May 8, 2011 at 7:55 pm #23494majencoParticipantI loved the scenes with Jen and Abby. Abby is my new favorite and the best of the teen set if you ask me.
May 8, 2011 at 8:38 pm #23496BonbonParticipantspeaking of the dating game, I have to tell you something funny that happened yesterday. First of all, I’ve been single now for 27 years so the thought of going on a date absolutely terrifies me. Anyway…
My friend just came back from New Orleans and she brought me a little Voodoo doll. Before I could even take it from her hand my other friend grabbed it, held it in front of my face and closed her eyes (which is what you’re supposed to do) and started chanting, "Find Bonnie a husband, find Bonnie a husband…). I hate her!!!
May 10, 2011 at 2:12 pm #23522maryanneParticipantIf it works, let us know……some of us may want to buy one! LOL
May 10, 2011 at 4:51 pm #23538BethParticipantIt is extremely rare for an adult to develop a food allergy but not unheard of. Jennifer said she had eaten fish before and never had a problem so this was clearly a new allergy.
May 10, 2011 at 5:19 pm #23541DeeLanParticipantYou can outgrow and develop new allergies all the time. A friend of mine had allergy testing and she was allergic to chicken, lettuce and many other foods. About 10 years later she was having problems again and they retested. No longer allergic to chicken and lettuce but is now allergic to beef and corn.
May 11, 2011 at 3:36 pm #23586mommytutuParticipantIn my 20’s I became allergic to feathers so I couldn’t use feather pillows or comforters because I’d break out in hives. Now in my 40’s I sleep with a down comforter and have no problems at all.
May 13, 2011 at 4:59 pm #23673BethParticipantI said extremely rare not impossible.
May 13, 2011 at 4:59 pm #23675BethParticipantYour problem is not a food allergy. Those are different.
