I remember when this guy played the original Austin and I loved him. But honestly, he seems so awkward in the role again. Is it just me? His acting seems stiff and he and Carrie are just plain odd together. Everytime they are with each other in a scene, it’s like he doesn’t know what to do or say. Christie Clark is great and he seems almost inexperienced.
I agree about Austin! It’s not just you. I’ve been feeling that something is a little off with him as well. Maybe it’s because he hasn’t played this character in a long time and it will just take a while for him to feel comfortable in the role again. Who knows. I don’t feel any chemistry between Carrie and Austin. Maybe all that will change once they get into a storyline.
Again, it could just be that it’s been so many years since he’s been on the show, and worked with the other actors, but I am not liking him so far. I posted the other day about how the only Austin I’ve ever known was Austin Peck, so this one is going to take a while for me to get used to. Do we know if Austin/Carrie are sticking around for a while?
it’s temporary, and afterall, he hasn’t been given much to say yet. I mean look at John and Marlena – kind of duds in their first week too.
One thing I noticed is Patrick’s voice sounded a bit weak and he didn’t appear robustly healthy. Maybe he wasn’t feeling well?He just seems to have aged (very much so facially), than some of the other original characters; and thus, I think that plays a part in it…He looks a tad old for Carrie.
If I remember when Austin first came to Salem he was much older than Carrie. He was an adult living on his own and she was either still in high school or just out and had a school girl crush on him. I think he was suppose to be the oldest of Austin & Billie.
I didn’t even recognize him, he’s changed so much. I had to look him up to figure out who he was and then had a debate with a friend who insisted that was not him!
Austin was doing graduate school stuff in music when he first came on. Carrie loved his piano playing in the apartment next to her’s. She would have been the first year of college so he was at least 5 years or more older than she was. Billie was Austin’s kid sister and she was Lisa Rinna (who if they put them together now, she might appear more in the age bracket with them). When AP took over the role, he seemed too young and had way more chemistry with Sami than Carrie in my opinion and he also seemed younger than the big brother that took care of Billie all those years. Looking at it logically (I know it’s Days but…) Sami had Will when she was 16 which was about 2 years or more after Austin came to Salem (Austin would then have been 26+ due to where he was in school plus the 2 years of being in Salem), Austin thought Will was his from sleeping with Sami when she was only 16 (she set him up to think this so she could have him for herself), since Will is now 18 that would make Sami about 35 now so Austin being 45 would make sense since he was about 10 years older than Sami to start with. I think PM is only 40 which is the same as GG. Carrie and Austin are supposed to be late 30s to 40s. Their parents haven’t aged at the same rate though! lol
I don’t agree with you guys that Austin is the older child. I’m almost certain that Billy is, and since, she’s Bo’s age, that would make perfect sense.
And I agree with Bono, remember he is much older now than when he was last on the show. The men don’t always age as well as the women, if you know what I mean. ;o)
And for me, Patrick will always be the real Austin, not doofus AP. And as much as I liked Julie Pinchet (sp?), I still think of Lisa Rinna as Billy. I thought they (Austin and Carrie) looked perfectly fine together, just like you’d expect from an old married couple.

I find it unsettling that they suddenly made Sami older than Carrie when Carrie was born before Roman and Marlena even knew each other.
Carrie is still older than Sami by 3 years given their new birthdates. So 6 years difference has now been reduced to 3? Someone seems to be ignoring that Carrie was 5 when she first came to Salem and R/M didn’t have Sami and Eric until Carrie was 10 or 11. So there should be atleast 10 years between them but that would make Will’s age a joke just like EJ who was born after Will!
watching PM in the role so he is Austin to me. However I agree about him seeming a bit uneasy. I wasn’t excited about Austin and Carrie coming back simply because the last time they were on I found them so boring. BORING! So I don’t even care about these two anymore. I am trying to give it a chance but Carrie and Austin thus far are not holding my attention. Also if they make Sami go after Austin I am not watching that.
and my only reasons are 1. Sami and PM’s Austin never had chemistry together (CC/PM did). 2. I think Sami and Carrie will find other things to disagree about but maybe they will come together and really get along for a change? No spoilers there, just my instinct. I also think it might be a little funny if Carrie found Rafe interesting instead of Sami going after Austin again. But, I really want Rafe with Sami as I think he can keep her under control better than any guy she’s found to date.
I also suspect that Austin is just getting started and the character really hasn’t had much to work with yet. I’ve seen PM in movies and he’s capable!
on more with Billie and personally, I thought he not only looked and acted younger than the actresses playing Billie (especially Lisa Rinna) but I’m guessing he was younger. When Billie first appeared, I believe she had an addiction problem and Austin was trying to get her out of that. Plus, I remember seeing flashbacks of Billie and Austin when they were kids and taken away by their father. Billie was several years younger and being taken care of by Austin.
