well, and I live in the sticks! Try that too, but yes, I’ve been downloading free and .99 cent books all morning! The technology is amazing. I even downloaded for free The Bible! Now I can take it every where I go! Classics, romances, thrillers, best sellers! Just love it!
December 21, 2011 at 3:34 am #29781NoraParticipantI’m really glad you guys love your kindles, if I hadn’t gotten an iPad i would have bought one. But my sister has an iPad and I loved playing with it. You can get LOTS of games for free, and books, newer reeases or the ones I was interested in getting were 8.99. But what I like about the iBook on here is that if you see a book you want you. Can download a couple chapters for free to see if you like it.
My mom is hooked on books on cd, She gets hers from the library, we like the detective series by Catherine coulter. And now she’s listening to a jane evanovich book, sizzling 17. It’s a series too. About a bail bons woman, she has this really funny big black woman as her assistant and a way out there mother. It’s really good, we went backwards with both these series, didn’t get them in order. Lol. I still need to finish ice cold by my Tess gerritsen. I wish I liked to read more but it’s hard for me to sit down and read I’d rather watch tv. My hubby bought his mom a kindle not sure if it’s the fire or not, so I got her an amazon card so she can get books, she’s one that can have a book in her hand at all times, her mom was the same way.
December 21, 2011 at 12:09 pm #29785BonbonParticipantThe last time I downloaded a bunch of free books I got one called Dancing in the Moonlight thinking it a mystery/romance. I have to admit, it was pretty much "fluff" but I enjoyed it. At the end I found out it was a Harliquin Romance. I never thought I’d read one of those but it wasn’t anything all that I expected…in fact, I just may try another one. They kind of remind me of that magazine, True Romance, I used to read as a teen.
December 21, 2011 at 1:31 pm #29786SWParticipantyou can get ebooks from the library with it (I haven’t done this yet but a friend did) and you can download the software to run the kindle books and nook ones. I like being able to read in bed without the lights on too! lol I love the games, having my music available, along with photos and movies. It’s pricey but you can do so much more with it.
December 21, 2011 at 6:04 pm #29800NoraParticipantDo you have iPad1 or ipad2??
December 21, 2011 at 7:07 pm #29801SWParticipantbut I have several friends with the iPad2. I considered gettting the new one but then suspected that they might be coming out with a newer one so I am waiting. My ipad is running the latest OS system for it which was a free update. I love it and even if it is a little heavier than the new ones, it’s great.
December 21, 2011 at 7:45 pm #29803luckeyParticipantme that I’m going to check into for dowloading. Happy Reading!!!
December 21, 2011 at 9:22 pm #29813BonbonParticipantyou’ll always be in that boat. The way technology is moving, nothing will be good for long until because they’ll soon come out with a "new and improved" model/version/gadget.
BTW, I was watching on The History Channel last night their 101 greatest gadgets. Would you belive, the #1 gadget was the smart phone. In the top 10 were the telephone, television, radio, computer, typewritter (not necessarily in that order) and I don’t remember the others.
December 21, 2011 at 10:24 pm #29814DeeLanParticipantSo true. Usually by the time a new gadget hits the stores there’s a newer one in the works.
Don is my computer geek. He builds and can repair them. He sees a new video card or some other hardware and says it’s the best but in a few months the price is dropping and it’s now 3-4 generations behind. That’s usually when he upgrades but he’s always several generations behind he next best thing.
December 22, 2011 at 1:33 am #29821SWParticipantI’ve learned that sometimes you wait until January/February and this is especially true with the products that Apple puts on Black Friday sale. I am betting on more bells/whistles in the iPad3. We’ll see if I’m right or not. No harm waiting right now.
