Watching the new "Dirty Soap" on E and they said that Kirsten will be re-cast on OLTL for a couple of months. It’s an undisclosed health issue….so what’s going on with her? I liked her so much on Days. I’m worried about her!
October 17, 2011 at 11:18 am #27664SWParticipantmuch other than she’s out for an extended period of time. I wonder if it’s stress related due to her brother leaving. She seemed to have a very hard time dealing with his service.
October 17, 2011 at 11:32 am #27668BonbonParticipantgood grief, if she can’t deal with something like that to the extent that it affects her health, that girl has some SERIOUS problems. I think there is probably something else going on.
Will she remain on Dirty Soaps? If so, it sounds to me like something is going on at GH she’s trying to get away from. We may never know.
October 17, 2011 at 1:00 pm #27670PattiParticipantshe is pencil thin. Hope she doesn’t have a serious eating disorder. The media has really kept her problem under wraps, though. I love her as "Maxi Jones" on GH, even though many consider her (Maxi) to be nerve-racking and an endless pain, since most of the time she’s really overly-dramatic in her role. I think her situation with her brother leaving is only part of her stress. Since she admits she has no relationship with her parents, and her brother is her idol, plus the hours and hours she must put in for both GH and DS, it could be stress-related; but, somehow, I think it might go much deeper than that. In any case, get well Kirsten. Your GH replacement just isn’t cutting it with me, although I’ll give her one thing — she’s got your voice and walk down pat — but she’s just not Maxi Jones to me.
October 17, 2011 at 1:54 pm #27671PattiParticipantevidently she has endometriosis (sp?), and has dealt with it before. I don’t know anything about the disease itself, but I read it can be very painful. I wish her a quick and speedy recovery.
October 17, 2011 at 2:44 pm #27675BonbonParticipantAs with her, it often goes away after you give birth. Although I know it’s very painful, I don’t believe it’s something that would cause her to not be able to go to work. From what my DIL said, it’s much like menstrual cramps.
October 17, 2011 at 3:07 pm #27677DeeLanParticipantI had it and would get severe menstural cramps to the point I was doubled up on bed for 1-2 days each month.
It’s where the lining of the uterus that accumulates each month goes outside the uterus and can cause problems, one of them being infertility as it can block the tubes. Mine was discovered when I had an ovarian tumor removed. The doc said when he moved the uterus it looked like it had been sprinkled with pepper. The treatment is to stop the period for months so the endometriosis can sloff off or be absorbed. One way is pregnancy and the other is medication. I took Danocrin which is a mild male hormone which stopped everything for 6 months. The problem is the endometriosis can come back. They can also remove it via surgery but I’m not sure how exactly they do that.
October 17, 2011 at 3:09 pm #27678trykeryderParticipantit’s much worse than menstrual cramps. I had it 30 years ago and it was horrible. I needed some really powerful painkillers and some hormonal treatment to just function. I never knew what the expression "exquisite pain" meant until then. And it started after my C-section.
And it can cause infertility if left alone.
October 17, 2011 at 3:10 pm #27679trykeryderParticipantThat’s the same medication I was on…just couldn’t remember the name of it.
October 17, 2011 at 7:49 pm #27689cornbreadParticipantmy mistake, I thought it was One Life to Live and she’s on General Hospital. Shows what a loyal Days fan I am I guess I’m enjoying Dirty Soap. I’m liking Brandon Beamer better each episode. I always liked the other actor who played Shawn better, but Brandon is growing on me. Maybe he’ll come back to Days? I’m ready for Shelle to return!
October 19, 2011 at 7:28 pm #27759IzzyBParticipantThat could explain a lot. She seemed really upset on Dirty Soaps when she didn’t want to talk about it. It could be painful, need surgery, and be emotional because depending on the degree the doctors could be telling her she may not be able to have kids or will have trouble. I know how that news can be taken as I was told this at a very young age myself. Between that and not having a fmaily support system, I can see why she is feeling and looking the way she is.
October 20, 2011 at 3:25 am #27781CatLady54ParticipantI was diagnosed with it in my early twenties and have had multple surgeries for it. The pain can be extremely intense and there are many other problems & side effects you can have from the desease and the medication they may prescribe to treat it. Yes, having a child can lessen it or stop the disease from progressing, but that is if you are lucky enough not to have scar tissue damage that causes infertility (I wasn’t).
Sorry if I come on too strong, but when anyone compares it to menstrual cramps, it’s kind of a "hot" button with me.
October 20, 2011 at 4:02 am #27783DeeLanParticipantI agree. I remember laying in bed with a heating pad, pillow on top of that and a book to hold it down. I’d get nauseated and couldn’t move for a couple of days. One day I was at work and was holding on to the nurses desk with white knuckles it was so bad.
I was diagnosed when I was 24 and on medication for it and my doc said I’d have no problems getting pregnant. I got divorced the following year and never thought about having problems with conceiving until I was in my 40’s and married Don. He had one daughter and didn’t want anymore but knew I always wanted kids and said he’d do it for me. I never did get pregnant and often wonder if it was from the endometriosis. Maybe if I’d gotten remarried sooner we’d have realized there was a problem sooner and something could have been done but I’m now 54 and just had a hysterectomy so that part of my life is over. When they did the hysterectomy they had to leave the left ovary due to scar tissue adhering the ovary to the colon and kidney and the scar tissue was most likely caused by the endometriosis.
I worked with a girl who had endometrosis but it was in her lungs. Some how the endometrial cells worked their way up and she had awful problems with it. In reading up on endomatriosis some can have it in the brain.
October 20, 2011 at 12:02 pm #27792BonbonParticipantI was just going by what my DIL and some others have said. Menstrual cramps can be very debilitating for some women. Also, it’s intensity varies greatly from woman to woman. Sorry if I upset you.
